I am confident that we will keep our ranged and area stims, they are one of the two defining features of our class.

I speculate that we will come more in line with docs, i.e. more shared ability with perhaps fire blankets and maybe rez kits. We get our terrain negotiation and poo slinging, so the docs will of course need something to set themselves apart.

Then again, with the removal of the crafting tree, there is little or no reason to master CM anymore, at least not for the person who seeks to heal rather than harm. Depending on how it all boils down, I might consider "stacking" doc and cm to get certs for fire blankets and rez kits, yet still keep master pistoleer. Just an idea I've got clanging around in my head.

Heh, whose up for defense mods in place of the crafting tree?

Give us the ability to use rez kits, still let us poison something (I don't care what) and keep the ranged/area stims and we've still got something good going. I hope. . .

Also, I dont think they will remove ranged / area stims, but the original announcement dont give any informations about .. only that you can start using stims without novice medic (oh, I forgot the old trick with +5 Med Use tapes ...)

About crafting, hope this will come from Medic Part, not too much from BE.

And, at last, as I can understand, real BIG enhancement will come with all master boxes, dont know what this mean for CM.

Yet to play WoW. Waiting for the CoH PvP arena + expansion. Until then, lets hope SOE does something productive.

If it's like WoW (which it sounds like it is), then I'm game. Haven't played SWG in months because combat in WoW is more fun imo.

When I first started SWG years ago, Master CM was my first prof and I loved it. Then holos, buffs, etc etc killed my profession, so I became a Master TK/ Master Chef. Then I got bored and longed for the fun times I had as a CM. CU sounds like a breath of fresh air. Spamming and soloing everything is quite lame and not a challenge.

Erm Gamin I don't mean this as a diss but you are wrong. Both MxO and WoW have made a commitment to to continuously adding quests and content as a basic part of their game-what you pay your subscription for. MxO proudly announced they had signed the guy who write the strip 'concrete' to write/lead develop their story arc and I don't think there's been a month that's gone by the WoW have not released new quest stuff. SOE charges with mixed results. got away with it on EQ2 but undermined game loyalty. When WoW spent all the cash on parties etc for Euro launch friends of mine who can stomach that elves n orcs crud celebrated and dumped their EQ2 accounts. And the less said about planetside's expansion the better

That said MxO may have lots of new missionsbut every tower block looks the same and even with snazzier mission update system it still feels kinda empty compared to the gorgeous SWG environments. I like the ideas behind the GCW, recognise that combat's got to change and knew that docs were getting nerfed.I am intending onswitching to cm/pikie after the curb. What I did not expect was the complete confusion caused by this bungled CURB.

Devs have been working on it 2 years and they mention they are substantially rewritng crafting without clear info 2 months before they are going live and without having started beta yet?? Crafting changes are coming later but oh yeah actually er you have to completely rethink crafting as an option if you do not pay for two accounts because we are completely rewriting xp system and all you experienced cm and doc crafters find a sharp stake, take a seat and make yourselves comfortable...Everybody gets1 shot at rewiting theirchar but unless you make it onto the beta you will not understand what you are doing... Correspondents held to an NDA so tightly they cannot do anything to allay justified concerns of ppl who have invested up to 2 years of game time? Not even censored posts?

People are welcome to disagree with me as that is part of what being in a community is all about but I hope Blair learns to respect paying customers better (and i bet the day after his triumphant announcement he was in a bar nursing a beer sat with a smug thunderheart saying 'I warned you...') Have a great Easter everyone.

I take nothing as a diss Ambiguous_Lee, that’s the nice thing about these forums...we can 'discuss' things...I'm actually not sure we completely disagree though...I had to go back to my post and read it again but I think I see what you are saying. What I was saying is that SOE is not charging for the CU, just the Wookiee expansion. What I think you are saying, and please correct me if I am wrong, is that we are all paying for the content in the game. I agree with this completely.

The only other MMORPG that I have played is Shadowbane, which was really more of a MMOPvP game lol So I don't really know how EQ2 or WoW or some of the others people have talked about stack up to SWG. I do believe that SWG is a very unique and complex game, and I hate to see some of that complexity going away and I hope that they replace it with a similarly complex system (combat, hams, professions ect...) instead of just makeing it a 'simpler' system.

I have been pleased with some of the recent changes and additions they have made in the game (biting the bullet on the 'snappy' movement, just hoping it was a necessary change). But I have to admit I am very apprehensive about all the changes in the CU. I went back through some of the concept threads on the HAM system and the Armor/Weapons, and it seems like they are throwing a lot of those ideas out the window (just have to wait for more information I guess). I'm not going to cancel my accounts any time soon, nor threaten to, I still don't think there is a better game out there...and there certainly isn't another Star Wars on line game, I'm sure it will still be a fun game to play - we just have to wait and see what happens I guess.

I really wish they would hurry and come out with more information though!!

Quick! To the City of Hero's cave!

Im going to keep my gloomy outlook on this CU till it's released. Ive yet to see any information that even looks promising. It's vauge, like the community relations team at SOE.

*waits for more dissapointment*

Gorgeous SWG enviornments? 2 years ago, maybe, but by todays standards?!.. I want to try out that pair of rose colored glasses you're looking at the game through.

Should check out CoH if you want to talk about gorgeous enviornments.

As far as content in SWG, IHO, it is very disappointing. Aside from using names of popular SW characters and slight references to the SWEU, it doesn't have a proper SW feel or immersion it could.

I share most of your sentiments Gamin, the only point i was disputing was that some other games, including some that are stealing SOE's market, do not charge for expansions and plot development as they see these as essential parts of keeping players happy. That said, SOE are the only people to revise a combat system (and seemingly the crafting system through changing xp requirements

Stealing SOE's market? Personally, I think SOE's market isn't doing its job to keep it's players happy. While this CU is long overdue, it has most of us (correct me if I'm wrong) pretty skeptical about what will happen. We're in the dark here and no one is turning on the blasted light. . .yet.

So, the question on my mind, and possibly a few others is, 'Can SOE pull this one off? Or will it break what's left of SWG's player base?'
