I concur. I don't PvP. I picked a master CM/Doc combo because I wanted to play a healer and I thought my primary value would be as a healer. Instead I find my primary value is as a buffbot, which is not fun. With buffs and good armor there is no need for the area or ranged heals of the CM.
While I prefer playing with a group, there isn't always a group around. The most common group I see any more is a "solo group." It would be nice if Niamb could actually hunt things on her own. Mostly she is the guild buffbot. I only take her out on our guild hunts very occaisionally, for Krayt hunts the GeoLab and DWB. She isn't even useful on the Corvette, which we have guildmembers who do it in teams. CM is not needed for healing and wholly ineffective in PvE. If I stack poison and disease on one HAM bar while a guildmate attacks a different one, the MOB is dead from my guildie's attacks long before my poisons and diseases have any appreciable effect.
This is the only MMORPG I know of that has no meaningful role for healers in the field. When the game was new my skills as a CM and Doc always made my addition to any team a welcome one. Now, beyond my buffs before the start of a hunt, my skills as a healer are seldom called on and not really needed.
I truly enjoy playing a healer and wish they would introduce some meaningful role for us in PvE beyond buffbot. I would certainly like to see a bit more combat capability in Combat Medic when it comes to PvE. Every player wants to solo from time to time. Since they are nerfing the role of the CM in PvP, why not take this opportunity to boost its effectiveness in PvE? Make our poisons and diseases effective against MOBs and NPCs and give us credit for the damage we do. That would give me at least something to do with Niamb besides the mindless role of buffbot.
Better yet, give healers--both CM and Docs--a meaningful role to play in PvE. With buffs and armor our usefulness inthe fieldhas shrunk to nil. There are quite a few folks out there who enjoy the role of healer. I wish there wasa role for that class in this game, beyond buffing.

yeah, CM aint too handy as a PvE proff, unless you consider the group healing ability, which is all I have kept after these nerfs (im sorry, balances) and even that was hardly affected by a nerf.
