Thread: So what are CMs going to gain to mitigate this nerf?

1. No, skill point investment is different than investing in Armor and Food. Armor and Food do not have opportunity cost.
all costs are opportunity costs. you can spend your skill point, credit, and time. at least with skill points, you can recover it. not so with credits or time.
What do you give up when you get Armor and Food? Credits. And thats it.
no. it boils down to thetime it took you to earn them (or dupe them, heh). again, you can get the skill points back. not time or credits.
What do you give up when you spend Skill points on Doctor? You lose the opportunity to pick up another profession: you could increase your combat abilites, you could pick up a money-making crafting profession.
but only until you decide to change your template. then you get them back.
This type of opporunity cost is unacceptable in order to counter ONE single profession in PvP that is not even a pure combat profession.
it is all the same. it is preparation for eventualities. you want to use other skills, you risk getting hit with certain weapons. this should be true, regardless of the skill you choose. spending skill points, credits, time, effort... it all boils down to the same thing: making a judgement call about what is required to achieve the level of performance you desire in a certain situation. you are given skill points while you must earn credits, true. so in one way, the investment in doctor skills is easier: once you get them, you do not have to get new ones for each days combat. you do have to spend time and credits regularly to "re-earn" food, buffs, armor, weapons. so skill points spent are more effective use of your time/effort in that way.
the fact that combat medic is hybrid has no bearing.
2. No, you haven't. It is mathmatically impossible.
so is flight by a wasp. go figure. but the math proves they cannot fly. the saying goes, "there are lies, damn lies, and statistics." you can produce a mathematical arguement to prove almost any viewpoint. soooo...
If you are a doctor, and I am a combat medic, we can both use our meds once every 4 seconds.
incorrect. docs can use meds every 3 sec for cures, every one sec with havla for heals. i have indeed been one of two docs in a team that healed spammed poisons in our ten person group as fast as they accumulated. no one died until both of us were dead, and that occurredafter a long battle. so you are just wrong. it does require planning, teamwork, and coordination. teamspeak is essential.
I throw an AoE Mind Poision C at you and your group of 9 (10 people including yourself). Within 4 seconds you have cured yourself, and one other teammate.
we were able to cure much faster with single cures and havla. with our teammates nearby, we cured andhealedand no one went down from poison. you should also try to kill the opposing cm. once you shoot at them, they tend to run or die.
you do not have to cure one poison before the next to prevent incapps.a combat medic for mind heals is very helpful here. perhaps that is where you were failing.
At the end of this 4 seconds,I throw an AoE Health Poision C, applying 2 seperate poisions to your group of 10. In the elapsed 5 seconds I have applied two poisions to 10 people, requiring a total of 18 poision cures (Remember, you cured the mind poision on you, and one teammate, but you both have had another poision applied, while the rest of the group has 2 different poisions on them). In 12 seconds I can apply 3 different poisions to 10 people, and you can only heal 3 of those people in that time frame. Not to mention at every 4 seconds I reapply the posion which had been cured. You would need to have at least half of your team using master level cures in order to keep from taking 700 damage ticks and up. Sorry, you lose.
blah blah blah. you can also set a bunch of people on fire, and do it repeatedly while the doc uses fire blankets. fact is, with coordination and preparation, that is more easily dealt with than poison. but the poison can still be dealt with with a prepared group. been there, done that.
3. Yes, and thats the way it should be. You shouldn't rely on your Combat Medics to deal out the most damage because their attacks are unblockable by anyone without doctor (See 1.). CM poisions should be an annoyance, and extra damage dealer in the battle, but nothing too signficant.
that is just a load of crap. tell it to your temploiter friends. no one here buys it. you personally should be an annoyance... oh, wait... never mind.
(You can still go through poision buffs by experimenting your potentcy over 200%)
here your lack of knowledge is beyond repair, so no attempt will be made.
Not 1,000 tick spider venoms, and not 700 tick crafted poisions, thats just fvcking retarded and is bad game design. Thats why so many quit PvPing,
many people quit due to tempoiters, jedi, and just plain old bad combat system design. in fact, the only people i know personally who quit had nothing to do with cm, but rather the other factors mentioned. pvp is still pitiful. if you like it the way it is now, you are probably next for nerfs. or one can hope.
there was almost no way to counter CM's >>Effectively<< without switching HALF of your skill points to doctor.
you don't need master doc. just poison heal. 92 sp? and that is if you don't have any medic at all, which seems uncommon with 400+ stim b's available to novice medics.

I am implying nothing except you have flipped your response to the I WIN button being nerfed. I am implying that I am glad you are gone from CH because any true MCH knew our nerfs were unreasonable. There were many professions that could beat CH simply by mass damage (Commando, CM or BH) or damage mitigation (TKM).
Yet the CM's cannot be countered as easily as pets were. That is why you do need nerfed. CM's have group TEF Exploited from launch. CM's are way overbalanced and it is time for their nerfage.
i don't think you understand what is being said. and i can pesonally say that i was opposed to the creatuer handler, commando, and bounty hunter nerfs. i would be happy to help try to stop such things if i knew of an effective way to do so. but i do not, not even for my own profession. so while i sympathize with ch, commando and bh, i am at a lost as to what i personally could have done to prevent their nerfs.
but i do not gloat in them, neither do i shake a finger at them and troll their boards. they should be repaired. and even if they are not, that does not make screwing up another profession appropriate.

LOL. The most Ironic part of thsi comment is that most of you know you are overpowered. Know you have gotten away with it since before the CH nerf. And you want a bone? LOL. You should just be thankful you lasted this long. I got a couple rocks my useless pets get stuck on, maybe you can throw those instead of what one hopes will be useless grenades.
no, the most ironic part is that you are a troll, and you know nothing, but continue to speak as though someone would take your drabble as influential. and in addition, your sentences frequently do not make any sense.
back under your bridge!

Is any other "combat" profession required to have 2 different combat skills to be remotely effective?

You ever tried commando we have to spend the same 169 points as a combat medic.all of our pre-req is combat, yet to be effective we have to pick up one of the other combat lines. Look on the bright side you haven't been nerfed as bad as commandos until your area poisons, willpoison you even when they miss your target. That is what our grenades do.
I know you guys are frustrated but with the summit it appears that the entire game proffesion list is going to be re-balanced and you must admit alot of people are going to be upset with such sweeping changes. I would dare say however good players will recognize the areas of their profession that are overpowered and be prepared for the "balance".
no balance here. anyone seen any balance?

You make it sound easy for us
us? i do not think anyone expects YOU to fix anything.
to fix something the Devs WILL NOT FIX. You claim in the CH forums you are a CH. You call me an idiot.
well, the idiot thing has a growing following...
What do you call someone who claims to be everything and argues everything???
Pluto9Moon?
I call you phony.
You once wrote:
"If I recall correctly Pistoleer, Creature Handler and Bounty Hunter were nerfed through the floor because a lot of the 'tards were shouting and yelling that they were overpowered, Commando was as well. This has led to a lot of disgruntlement and disgust in the respective communities.
PvP-players have left their former professions because the nerf made them feel the classes were unenjoyable.
Now people want to give this foaming bundle of love to TK, CM and Rifleman? You expect these players to stand idly by and watch when the nerfbat is swung?"
No one wants you to be nerfed.
this is simply not correct. you need only read this board to find too numerous to recount episodes of gloating that cm is functionally ineffective now. in fact, your posts would seem to be among those.
Due to the current political climate of SWG and the lack of insight from the Dev team it is the only plausible solution.
again, simply incorrect. many possible remediesexist. the devs chose a very poor set of responses. politics? they simply did something simple, designed expressly to incapacitate the profession and placate the whining adolescent masses, of which you would appear to be one.
You cannot stay (what was your word) ubzorness.
???
I die in 4 ticks from mind poison before CH was nerfed. Ironic it is that you cling so hard but cried even harder for our nerfs.
point is, they did not call for ch nerfs, based on what has been posted here. i think you mis-read, perhaps intentionally.
I call it kismet, karma, fate and just plain funny that the axe now falls on you.
you do not seem to understand what has been said about this, so your deep abiding insight into eastern religious concepts would also seem a bit suspect. you are glorying in the cm nerf. few, of us would do likewise to CH/BH/Commando, etc.
Breaking the cycle of hate is not what I want right now.
not hard to get that impression from your posts.
I want every profession to fall.
then you are stupid.
If everyone becomes as weak as we are then it will take 100's of people with many deaths to take down one kimogila.
and no one will play due to the massive lag that groups of that size engender. and what about the guy who likes solo play? he is outta here! small group players? outta here! not many left...
When we pointed out that if we were the first others would be next. No one caught on. No one defended us.
not true. no one defended you effectively, including yourselves. but many of us expressed our dismay at the nerfs to other profesisons. we simply have no effective way of intervening. and i for one refrain from trolling the profession boards of those who have been hammered, telling them how they deserved it...
I will not stand idly by now when the nerfbat gets swung. but I will shout "SWING!!!!" and "HIT EM AGAIN" so maybe the our Special Olympic Devs will hit hard enough and maybe hit twice as hard.
one could only wish that your metaphor could be lived out in actuality on you.
CM is a hybrid class, part healer part combatant. The devs gave us a choice, some favor the healing aspect, others favor the combat side. To say cm is strictly support is simply denying the fact our offencive to deffencive meds are 9:1 ratio, the fact that doctors overshadow us in healing, the fact that we act as a group multiplyer. Your blinded by your hatred for us like every other nerf hearding troll.
You say all cms toss a poison and run away is again false. It takes many throws to stick a poison now and I for one dont run away, neither does every cm. Your claim of those uber 1500 a tick poisons we all have is again false. And btw how long is a couple seconds 2 - 3? It takes 10 seconds to see any damage, thats ample amounts of time for your doc to area cure it. If I were you I'd be yelling at the doc who didnt do his job, not the cm who does his.
We are talking PVP not PVE. I could careless about my ability to heal others in PVE combat. I'm more concerned about my ability to disable others in PVP. I think the CM should get some added combat defenses (what I have no idea). Or make mind heal effective..maybe an area mind heal would be cool. That would come in handy for PVP

You're getting ranged heals
area heals
you can heal mind (albeit at a very high cost to yourself)
you get to be a real medic with combat abilities
you might stop being the first target on the battlefield
you won't be hated as much as you used to be
you're ignore list might even shrink
you'll probably live longer
....
You are extremely effective at something, healing groups of people in the middle of battleat once
I really don't see much bad coming from this.
What combat abilities? Poisons and Disease packs cant kill anyone. It leaves NPC's and PLayers with 1 ham point left. That means you have to have a 2nd professon to actually kill something. Otheriwse how do we actually kill a mob? Beat it with a empty stim pack?
Not meant as a flame but I just wanted to point out a misconception about our "combat abilities"
The problem with beig a combat medic, as Niamb pointed out, with buffs and armor we are not really needed in a lot of grps. Unless the buff and armor revamp is done at some point, I do not see this changing. As these hanges willl be very unpopluar I am skeptical about the fact they will ever actually happen
Did you notice the last patch where NPC's use specials and hit for insane dmg now? Im willing to bet combat medics will be "needed" now.

Here is what cm's aren't seeing, CM is a support class like doc not a combat class in it's self. That is it you should not be able to kill an elite prof in pvp with novice marksman/mcm all you do is 1 throw then run away till we have nothing left in our mind then shoot 1 time any hit inc.you should not be able to do 1500 dmg every couple seconds in pvp. you just need the 75% reduction like all the other dot's like bleed and fire have. Weapons with poison/disease need there 75% nerf also.
Master Combat Medic requires mastering the entire medic profession skill boxes, the entire Combat Medic profession boxes, and a full tree of ranged support....FOR ONE PROFESSION. Is that reason enough to be able to kill an elite profession in PvP? Shouldn't be able to do 1500 every ten seconds? You mean like that TK thats /headhit1 spamming through my 80% kinetic who never had to using 2 trees of crafting to get his "elite" profession? Need a 75% DoT nerf? Wait you mean those DoT pikes and ranged weapons had to be crafted? You mean the commando has to pre-load his flamethrower with rare resources to get a person or group of people to catch on fire? Plus the fire DoTs from the different specials stack (bet you didn't know that)!
Lets face it, I spent the points to be a powerful HEALER and a powerful POISONER. I earned it.
