today being the 40th anniversity of ML Kings speech at the lincoln memorial...

i think there is no better place to do it...

King's speech there wasnt a candlelight vigil, i was people getting together to express their mutual concerns

it was a statement about injustices and there was no place more fitting then the lincoln memorial to do it...

I wasnt in beta so i dont know who the memorial is for, but from what others has said, sounds like this is exactly the kind of thingthis beta tester stood for...

Ele...the Memorial was for a Beta Tester, and long time follower of the game, Moraj. Great guy, posted and chatted with him before Beta even entered our minds. He loved this game. Just the same as we all do, to one degree or another.

He tried to make this game the best it could be during testing... what's wrong with us trying to make the game better by drawing attention to some issues by gathering at his memorial? Where is the disrespect? Where is the harm?

Holding a demonstration to make the game better at a place that was a memorial to a person that worked hard to do just that seems completely appropriate to me.

Just seems that someone wanted to flame and send this thread off track, and did a very good job of it. What better to flame really?

I would say that a thoughtfull and respectfull person would not have stated opinions in that fashion, and would have voiced a concern in a much more intellegent manner. You dont get people to listen to you by bieng abrasive and pissing them off - even if you are right it doesnt work.

Given thats the case, I dont see why anyone would listen to a very inconsiderate person talking about the location of a demonstration bieng improper, when this person has pretty much shown that they dont have the class to state an argument without attacking someone in the manner that Superkermit has done.

I doubt anyone attending this demonstration is going to seek glory and fame. No reason to flame.

Z has been working extremely hard on the issues affecting our professions. I've read his postings here and on another board. In fact, he was initially opposed to a medic's strike which was an initial idea for protest, and through sensible discussions through the boards, this meeting is what the compromise has come to be.

We are, by nature of our profession, healers. We want to be able to tend to wounds and damage to the characters we interact with. I myself enjoy talking to the patients to find out what happened to them to put their course on a path that intersects with mine.

We do not go out and start up 20 to 40 threads on a daily basis on the Discussion boardscrying NERF this, that, and the other and degrade that discussion into a flame battle. Yet, it seems those professions are the ones that are seeing some kind of a response.

We are the quiet ones, for the most part. We're patient. This meeting of the medics is simply our way of asking for someone to turn an eye on our profession and give us a chance to be heard, and give us some form of response.

While I cannot be online to participate in this event this weekend, the lack of my character being online combined with those going to the meeting may help to send forth our message that we're requesting communication from the devs on our issues that Z has so patiently put together.

Super Kermit obviously has some concerns about what he feels is an apporpriate setting. And I think we should all respect that. Anyone who shares such concerns and does not wish to attend because of them will certainly be missed, but we should still respect what their feelings on the matter. I would suggest that alternately Bestine does have a Med Center for folks who may feel that setting is more appropriate and would like to some but feel uncomforatble going to the memorial for whatever the reason.

As others here have mentioned I was definitely not for the idea of a strike. I'm less interested in a bitch session than just about anyone. I do have concerns that I wish to have raised and injustices that I feel are in the process of occuring. But I am also a big proponent of compromise, no matter how dirty a word "politics" has become. Compromise is often seen in American society as some form of weakness of character, of the inability to stand up for your beliefs.

I definitely do not see it that way. I see it as a strength of character to be able to admit that there are many and valid points of view on any given issue and that compromise shouldn't be a center ground where nobody is satisfied, but a center ground wherethose viewpoints can be shared, understood and a where an agreement can be reached that is satisfactory to all involved. One that considers all of the concerns and allows us to move forward insted of stagnating.

A strike, to me, could have done more harm than good. Aligning other players against us. We have enough of that as it is and I don't feel we need any more.

The place, from those who did know the man and his ideals, seems appropriate. As appropriate as what Elenora has stated. I don't want a bitch session either, but I think that getting healers together all in one place to just meet, talk to each other, get to know how we all play the game and just interact can be a good and healthy thing. At the same time we are gathering in a place to make a simple statement, that we are here, that we are valid players, that we have valid concerns and that we do not wish to be ignored.

There is no intent to dishonor the memory of anyone. No intent to be subversive. No intent for any ill will at all. If we had wanted that we may have tried to see if we could get onto a live server, gathering all in one little med center somewhere in a busy place like Coronet and seen if we could bring a server to it's knees while we refused to heal anyone. Instead we have chosen a server and a place that should not be too heavily crowded, where the hope is that the only players we will be truly disrupting with any chance of lag, is ourselves. A server where there are many good folks who work as tirelessly as we did in Beta to test and help improve the game in what ways they can. A place where many gathered at the end of Beta to celebrate all that was accomplioshed and to shoot of fireworks in joy and clebration. A place I think most appropriate for the intentions of why so many have suggested meeting in the first place. And the time frame is quite broad, so I expect that folks will be coming and going throughout that time, further alleviating the possibility of overload.

The intentions are pure, as far as I'm concerned. Those who wish to join are more than welcome. Those who do not, for whatever reason, will be missed, butI do believe their intentions should also be taken as pure and right, evan if sometimes the wording does not always convey that at first glance. If I were to have such a memorial I would also want it to be such a place. A place for folks to be happy and to enjoy the things they have now and to try and better themselves and the world in which the live and, most appropriately for here, play in.

My promise is that I will not assign your intentions any ill will, as long as you are willing to provide me, indeed all of us,the same courtesy.

As far as I'm concerned, this isn't a strike. It's not about trying to harm or disrupt other players. I have no intention of pushing any issues with anyone. It's a time and a place for all of us to meet, talk about whatever we with to talk about, issues or not, and to just enjoy the company of new friends. The only "issie" involved is simply to bring a little attention to the medic community (indeed all of the support professions that got lumped into Holo's "remaining professions" that did not receive a direct response to their issues, as the Devs had promised).

I have no agenda here, and I have no intentions of leading anything. If you have issues you want to bring to me as the Doc Correspondent, feel free. I'm always available to here what folks have to say and want to bring up. It's what I volunteered to do. Just don't expect me to be giving any speeches or have some list of classes or anything like that. It's just a meet and have a way of telling te Devs "Hey. We are here and we are a valid group of responsible players with a valid set of conerns and we just want some acknowledgement that you have heard us and that you really are listening."

If my cable modem comes I'll try to make it. I want Doctor problems fixed (especially experimentation on ease of use for enhance packs and the factories), but also secretly hope BE and DE professions are their top priority. Let's not forget about some of the other classes that have been broken even worse than oursfor some time. Although the impact to SWG community will probably be larger if we cannot keep up with the demand due to factory problems.

I WON'T be there. You're talking about using a memorial for a dead guy as a meeting place to bitch about the game. It's rude. It's the same as holding a protest in a cemetary. It's one thing if it had to do with Moraj, but it doesn't. No, I didn't know the kid, I wasn't even in beta. This just is a little weird.

Please don't take this the wrong way. I think most of us are VERY aware of the issues some of the other professions are having and accept that some sacrifices should definitely be made, if needed, to ensure they get fixed.

The biggest issue I think most of us are having right now, however, is that we were promised, gauranteed even, a response to our Top 5 Issues list. Other professions who area of varying degrees if needing to be "fixed" have been given those responses. Other professions had been given the courtesy of immediate response, or even forewarning, of nerfs that would be affecting them so that SOE could get player input in the design process. Neither of these courtesies have been extended to most of the support professions.

I expect this to be a way for us to meet each other, share our concerns and just as a quite, friendly way to say "We are here and we deserve respect and consideration."

We are NOT saying "Fix our Class NOW!" Not at all. Not even close.

We are saying, we want a response. We want delivery of a promise made toolong ago.

Hmm.. you have a point there. Certainly no disrepect is intended here.

The idea was brought up by another Beta Tester. And we are NOT about BITCHING about the game.

This is to meet and greet each other. Share concerns. And just to say that we are here. That's all.

We want to see what we can do to help improve the game, just like evry Beta Tester out there did, just like Moraj did. Just my humble opinion, however.
