Actually Masta, I think he's referring to the mainly PvE CMs, not the touch-of-death PvPers like yourself

You're not the only one. I use my CM/Doc skills for medical purposes. Not Al-Qaeda warfare.

Hmm well I still consider myself a combat medic, been one pretty much since 2 weeks after launch. I didn't take CM as a way to get an edge on PVP. I am not FOTM. I lived through the nerfs and mass exodus of our profession back when they took away incap. Through it all I have modified my template from MD/MCM to all kinds of different configurations with only one constant in mind... I will always remain an MCM.

I believe in the profession but I don't believe we were meant to just be combat healers. In combat we are second-rate healers anyway. We can only heal 5 of 13 types of damage incurred in combat. We are geared and meant to be damage dealers in this game. That is apparent by the amount of offensive medicine schematics to defensive medicine schematics in our crafting tree.

If you choose to remain strictly as a healer then that is your choice. That's right it is your choice to only use 1/3 of the potential of this profession.

However, don't impose that choice on me and tell me I don't play my role as a true SWG Combat Medic.

Gnuut,

we have pretty well always agreed in on pretty much everything in the past. i think often times we think alike about the class, its current state, and the improvement that need to be made not only to Combat Medic, but to the other classes and the game as a whole to balance out the problems, bugs and glitches that exsist.

i was NOT implying by ANY means that my way of playing the class is the 'right way' or the 'only way' or even the 'intended way' i was mearly trying to find out if there were others like myself who enjoy the healing part of the class as much as (if not more than) the offencive 2/3.

you've every right to play the game as you see fit. i have stated in the past more than once that i admire your ability to play two classes i have been torn between for a very long time (since two days after launch in fact).

please understand this was not a slam on those who are powerful combatants, but rather an honest quest to find other like-minded players who enjoy healing and combat.

I took it mostly for it's healing abilities since my guild fights a lot of high level mobs and we didn't have a competent healer. So I took up the slack and started tossing stims. My only regret is my healing abilities in most situations are needed either sparcely or not at all.

im a master combat medic from the intrepid forums. to answer your questions

How many Combat MEDICS are there out there? ME! one. lol
Players who took up the profession as a HEALING profession with some combat skills. NOT as a way to get an edge in PvP?

I took this for both way's. I get tagged along and rented out to become a healer for them. I get paid very good. I also go for PvP and just regular NPC killing. I really don't care, I PvP with my bud's or what not. So it's pretty cool.

I decided I want to be a medic/doctor/cm before I started playing the game. This was back in September, I read a post on Allahkazam (sp?) about how this guy became what you call a medicine man. After reading that post I knew I wanted to be the ultimate healer, and that has been my template ever since. Oh for personal protection I have pistol 4, so don't mess with me or I will own you with my uber leet pistol 4, hehe.

So, I am what you can call the Medicine man. And horray for all you healers out there.

I took up CM before but I gave it up to finish TKM (Range Support requirement took up skill points I needed for TK). Now I gave up TK,finishing upCarbineer (2-4-4-4) and I'm going back to CM to master it. The thing I like about CM is that you're always appreciated and needed in combat (Docs included). I love the ranged healing part of CM but I haven't explored poison/disease much. I rarely PvP and I PvE everyday. Looking for resources is a chore though. /sigh

w00t!

keep these great stories coming folks! it is great to read about each of your takes on healing and healers.

Gnuut opened my eyes to a few fact, and i am going to explor the other 2/3 of the profession, however that will never change the fact that i am a healer at heart (i guess it helps that i am also a healer in RL, working 3 to 4 13 hour shifts in the hosptital each week)

GREAT STUFF!

I have been thinking of droppin CM for something else until I kept our group alive as the only healer against a Dark Jedi Master.Since TKA's hit me from 40m because I'm on dialup I think I'll just stick with PVE.

I too am mainly a healer. This is in fact due mainly to lag issues on my computer, but also because my friends desperatly needed a healer that wasn't just a 0/0/4/0 medic. Area stims are about the best thing that has ever happened to me because now i can actually heal the guy i want to when my computer lags instead of the target being out of my range. Keep up the good fight CMs.
