I'm not giving up, just sorta in...waiting...mode. Waiting for a chance at the Combat Rebalance to put forth our agenda for the Combat Medic Profession. Waiting for the opportunity for some REAL balance, as opposed to band-aid fixing which many others want to impose upon us. Waiting for the right time to do what I do best...rant

As for the lack of nerf posts here, you have to take into account the fact that anyone who trolls here with a nerf rant gets locked or deleted quickly. The Mods don't take kindly to trolling, and since folks have started reporting them, they've all probably just headed to the GCW Board where they will get some lovin'

At any rate...

as to the original post... How would we make any money without having to depend totaly on another profesion? We would not be able to take missions, we would not be able to take money in PvP because no one would pay (well a few would but not many) and we don't craft for other people. (Sorry I know I am not a CM anymore but I will use we because it is easier and I will be back) So basicaly we have no way to make money. As it stands at leaste we can whittle down creatures on missions and finish them with our CDEFs. But with just debuffs we wouldn't kill anything because creatures don't get buffed.

I seesome problems with the debuffing idea

1) Griefing. Imagine arriving at Dath OP with your guild to allget grief debuffed by some random **edit** while still loading. The nearest buffing doc is on corellia and in any event the griefer promises to still be waiting if you go re-buff. This would also allow CMs to kill steal krayts and acklay etc by debuffing the tanks just before the mob dies getting them killed

2) Over-powered buffs. This is more of a Doc issue but buffs are well over-powered. If one side gets debuffed and the other doesn't it turns an even fight into a cakewalk. Even a Jedi Guardian would probably die if hit by this in PvP. It can't be right that people would be better off with a Cm than a Jedi Guardian on their side

3) Fun. It's fun to be uber it's fun to build an almost invincible character. CMs are the great leveller - they can turn a buffed defence stacker into someone who may well get killed rather than someone who can walk over a small army of regular players. That's the game balancing role of the poison and disease abilities and it seems very appropriate. However its' still fun as a determined defence stacker or rifleman has a sporting chance vs the CM. If you could both poison them and debuff them you win instantly. You're there in 80-90% comp, PSG, and full buffs, they cant even afford the ham cost of a special. You could go read a magazine for all the threat a non-CM is to you. That's not much fun for the opponent

4) Balance. Currently CMs are pretty strong. To take away area stims and ranged stims (while leaving master medic stims) and replace with a really powerful ability is just not appropriate. It is appropriate to look at ways to make CMs different. It isn't appropriate to ramp up their power

5) Docs. This may hit docs pretty hard as players might just stop buffing for pvp altogether. Maybe stop buffing for PvE too in any area where looting is competitive since it will become so likely that someone will grief your buff

6) Good of the game. The CM plays a vital role now in balancing people with uber armour and uber weapons. Sure those players aren't happy but the more low-powered majority benefit a lot in PvP. CMs are currently good for the game. If the CM's role was further extended to totally ruin someone's day then I think we would lose players and if people didn't actually cancel they would just give up PvP. Now that's not good for the game

I don't think buffs are the problem, to the contrary I think damage is the problem. In this game it seems there is a ton of damage done, or no damage done. THere is no happy medium.

The truth is that I think all characters should be hit with the same 75% damage reduction that CMs have. That is that every character would only do 75% of the damage they currently do, both in PvP and PvE.

People complain that combat never lasts, well it can hardly lsat very long when you have some guy spamming head shot and hitting you for 500 points of damage every second.

Well, I've been defending CM on the Naritus board today, so might as well give my idea on this board as well.

Nice idea about a debuff poison or whatever, but I can see even more calls for nerfs if we had this ability. "Holy ****! I just spent 10k for a full set of buff and lost it all after 5 minutes!!!! NERF CMs!!!" This won't help at all. Same problems would exists. PvP would end far too quickly for just about everyone's tastes.

What I suggested on Naritus boards, is that to solve the problem and make the nerf criers go away, is simply to make the mind an easy healable pool just like the health and action pool. Allow stims to heal the mind.

As a MCM, I find myself only using poisons in PvP as everyone lately is targeting the mind. With the buffs and comp armor, little damage is done to the health and action. Yet we can make incredible area stims and ranged stims. What a waste.

If the mind could be healed the same way, there'd be no justification to people crying for poison nerfs. I've yet to see someone cry nerf on this board by saying they've been hit with a 700 health tick. It's always been about the mind.

So that's my idea to bring peace and harmony to everyone. Make the mind pool healable. It wouldn't kill the CM profession, as we still can poison groups and watch those with non medic skills panic. It'd be a great annoyance to them, not to mention the diseases would actually have some time to do their stuff and start rotting away their HAM.

This is a much simpler way to resolve alot of the issues, without actually nerfing any profession. Also a good way to get people to try out pistoleer or carbiner or something else instead of the popular MCM/Rifleman combo. A little more variaty in what combat profession is killing me would be refreshing.

Oooh oooh, can I please have a badge, or at least a new title. Master punching bag? That would rock.....

Just wanted to give thanks to all the knowledgeable CM's out there who have fought for our profession with statistics and extreme analytical skill. Props to you all.

You can't give a "support class"a 75% reduction? we're not a combat class

but a "support" class shouldn't be able to outdamage a combat class.

if you truly believe that you don't need "balancing" your a hardcore powergamer with a need to dominate in game to make up for RL issues or are just a punk who likes to cause people to hate you.

well 644 + 470 + 286 + 376 + 216 = 157.6 damage per sec (assuming no second disease)for 4 poisons I use and 1 disease non bile/venom

this does not include the 644 a tick health action poisons I threw for xtra damage and rifle damage incl bleed

so disregarding rifle(only rifles IV anyways)I'm now doing worst case 286.4 Dps agaist a AR3 80% resist opponent definitely possible so take youe head out of your ..... well wherever you keep it and look at cold hard facts. To equal this they would have had to do 286.4 X5 (80% reduction) X2 X2 (we'll assume they avg AP1 btwn power hammers and fencer stuff they had) =5728 Dps and half the time they were incap cept one sworddsman so not happening w/o major spd tapes on swordsman.
