Thread: So what are CMs going to gain to mitigate this nerf?

I have to agree. The way to fix an imbalance is not to make another profession more powerful and ignoring another profession. This is clearly a nerf of CM's. It would be nice if we were thrown a bone and not made an even poorer step child of the medic line

I posted on the pistoleer forum about this same subject. . .
I've been pistoleer for awhile and we all know how broken that is. I drop Doc and pick up CM to deal more damage and the devs propose to completely destroy one profession (CM) while enhancing an already good prof (Doc) while completely ignoring a broken profession such as pistoleer. . .

Does Combat Medic not require Ranged Support IV any more? You DO get attacks in that line, right? Not the greatest attacks, that's for sure, but attacks nonetheless. But seriously, the only Combat Medics that don't take points in a combat profession are the Doctors/CMs. Your argument is a moot point.
Here are the "attacks" We get.
Threaten Shot
Wraning Shot
Supperion Fire 1
Oh that support line really help! I also get all of the tumble commands wohoo!!!! Fear Me you evil Rancor!!! ![]()
Of course since the only cert I would have if I only took this line would be for a CDEF gun. This does not provide us with ver much at all IMO

As for what you're getting now, nothing, except the same fate as the Creature Handlers of old, a well deserved, one way ticket to nerfed obscurity.

Well what are you, a CM/Master Artisan? Didn't think so.
Is any other "combat" profession required to have 2 different combat skills to be remotely effective?
While on the subject of artisan. Medic is the only quasi "crafting" profession that does not have access to the survey skill. This forces someone who does not have another character that can do their surveying to either buy all their raw materials or take another novice skill of aritsan so they can find the items they need. And dont get started on forge, cuase we all know that is one big joke.

And this is a good thing? Seriously, don't you want to see a variety of combat professions in PvP? How did removing creature handlers from PvP actually make things more interesting? Removing combat medics completely from PvP will not increase the number of pistoleers, smugglers, pikemen, commandos, or carbineers in PvP. It will just mean more riflemen.
The more variety we have in PvP, the better the game will be. That doesn't mean CMs should be "uber". It does mean that poisons should be somewhat effective.
Make it so a CM could solo like a TKM in PvE by making poisons and disease more effective against NPCs and MOBs.
Hum, a DE use 140 Skill points, he doesn't own everything is PvP or PvE.
but, that's not a combat prof blablabla.
a SL use also alot of skill point and cannot solo anything.
a smuggler use alot of skill point, but he cannot own everything.
a ranger use...
a commando...
a BH...
...
...
Each profession has a role, and the role of CM is not to own everything. PvP or PvE.
Granted, TKM can do a little more damage than CM in PvE, but they cannot poison, they cannot heal their damage, they cannot heal their wounds, poison, disease in combat.
Yeah, they can heal some stuff, with meditate, not in combat, not possible when on fire, not possible when intimidated...
Each profession has a role.
Each profession has strengh and weakness.
And even if CM is partialy combat related, it is not an elite combat prof.
And it's shouldn't deal the same kind of damage as a full, and only combat profession.

You are not a primary combat profession, you are a secondary/support combat profession.
Ok if we are a "support profession" ask yourself this...
When was the last time you "needed" a CM?
Now ask yourself if you had the choice of having a Doctor or a CM in your group which would you choose?
If you answer either of those questions truthfully you know we are not much of a "support" profession. So explain to me what is our role? Why have we invested 169 in this skill when I could have saved myself 29 sp's and been a docotr instead?
Q: So what are CMs going to gain to mitigate this nerf?
A: You get to be half balanced for PvP and get to stop ruining it. That is your reward. You are less gimpish now. Congrats!

Hi,
I like those specials. But you are right. We should have some version of /rescue as well very much like RL combat medics who draw away fire from the wounded w/ their own body. Quite heroic and quite dangerous.
SOE was gracious enough to give a Combat Medic real fighting chance. Our poison/disease makes us good enough threat. I am really grateful for SOE about this. This makes the profession not as suicidal and quite playable. Also, this make our prof quite unique.
For the record, I think most of us MCMs can solo some heavy duty missions. ... Unless of course YOU choose NOT to pick up any combat prof. (Yes it is your choice. SOE will not take responsibility for your choice, you see? I can't blame them; I won't take responsibility for your choice either.) In which case, it's your own poodoo. ...
