Thread: Diseasing Corpses right or wrong?
Diseasing/Poisoning Corpses is lame I believe. Why? Because they are dead. Diseasing/Poisoning an Incapped player is fine by me and I do it all the time. Why?They are still alive and laying there. Why shouldn't you be able to effect them. I think bodies on the ground should be able to be attacked and if all your HAMS go to 0 then you die. Anyway keeping players incapped is a great way to take them out of the fight and is essential especially with the "clone wars." You wanna know what I hate? Woosies that cant take a beating and duel each otherthen DB each other to clear the poison/disease I gave em. Take your wounds like a man or woman.

Master CM, Master Surgeon, Trickshot.
There are many ways to get around the disease problem. For instance lets say you die with a disease on you. Have it add X amount of wounds and have the disease disapear when you re-clone. This way your not sitting around diseased for 30 minutes trying to find a doctor to heal you and you still can't jump right back into the fight.
This would also eliminate the need for people to even bother diseasing you when your dead. Last thing i want is to hurt your class.
At the same time perhaps make the wounds from the diseases kick in faster making your class a bit more usefull in pvp. This way you can still do dmg, wounds, and the only diff is when you clone you will have all the wounds and no disease.
The only reason i do it is so half my profession/classes weapons are useful. Players are not going to be fair and let my disease work on their stats. That is something that is to much to ask for. So My way works. They come out of that cloning center and they can choose to either go to the med center and get the disease taken care of.
Or they can choose to clone rush me.
98% of the time i have to deal with that revenge tef. So i toss the rules out for those players. They are lucky i stop at their Health/Action and Mind bars. I could take the time and make diseases for all their attributes. Its not like i dont have them already in my inventory andhavent found that special idiot to use them on.
If they want to fix the disease corpse so called exploit. They should make it so that the disease stays on after death and increase the power of everything in the combat medics arsenal. Give us something more to use other than poison and disease. If you look at the doctor tree. You see they have stuff that cures states. Dizzy Blind etc...
Why cant a combat medic have something that causes these states.
Here is my suggestion. Concussion Grenades which only C.Medics can craft. How about Flashbangs? Both of these things can cause someone to get some dizzy or confused or stunned or even blinded. So whydo combat medics not have things like that? Why are we just limited to poisons and diseases? This is a fantasy game. Why not include a few real life items into it?
These items can causestates that doctors to heal. Which creates a better demand for doctors other than for buffs or wound healing.
Casper once again the problem isint the wounds and the disease. Its the fact that the disease still affects you after you clone forcing you to wait until you can find a doctor.
Diseases ARE good for stopping TEF rushes but there is a better way. Did you even read my idea for a suggested change?
By having the disease add a large amount of wounds when you die that will end TEF rushes while at the same time preventing someone from being infected by a disease for 30 minutes after you clone.
You know what forget it its not worth it. Half of you agree that its an exploit the disease people after they die and the other half thinks that they should be able to disease you when your dead. Its just not worth it. I tried to be civil and post ideas that would eliminate TEF rushes without taking away any of your dmg power and you flamed me.
Not once did I say you should be nerfed only improved. If you dont want to have a rational discussion about a way to use diseases to end TEF's while not explotin fine explot away. Ill stick to PvP against the guilds that fight with honor and respect.
permacap happens when your stats are altered, IE through the use of drugs or enhancements and food. in my experience at least. and I have been permacapped before always by commandos.
the devs say corpse diseasing is an exploit, i try not to do it.
For everyone saying that it should stay on the corpse, when you hit the cloning center, you are a clone, you were not rezed ala EQ/SB. Its a completely different and earlier version of you. Now, then it would be interesting if you could contract the disease(s) when you went to recover your items from the bones, once insurance is added again.
Ok so i do agree that diseases should not continue on your cloned body... because if it is in fact a clone then it was not involved in the receiving of the disease.. THAT should be fixed
But should you still be able to disease a corpse? yes. as soon as i die i clock the button and it loads to the cloning center..... if i stuck around to watch the battle.. it IS my fault if my corpse gettings diseased.... it is mere seconds after i die that i am back in the cloning center.. if it isnt.. that means that i am purposely leaving my body on the battlefield and i am at risk for whatever happens
but you should still be able to disease a corpse that is still there.. after all like i said before, rotting corpse carry diseases! But yes, that disease should NOT be on the cloned body at the cloning center
Well if you are incapped and we want to be able to deal damage to someone, it should be by any means available. The pistol, the sword, disease, poison should all be available. Causing wounds is how this game generates downtime and allows one side to win, it is essential to be able to cause wounds. But has been said here, when you clone, get a new body, any and all positive and negative effects should be abolished by the process and you are left with any and wounds, battle fatigue, generated prior to death blow. When you get death blowed by the same person a few times and immediately see you are diseased after it, its not an error, its planned. As far as doing to an incapped character, whats good for the goose is good for the gander, if one class can do damage to an incapped character all should be able to.
It is good to see that the vast majority of combat medics are in agreement here on how their skills can and should be used.
> Using torso shot is not griefing nor is using flame DOT or disease
> on a person when their alive.
Oh really ? Nothing annoys me more then FOTM commandos one-shotting me and then sending "ooo I soo owned you" tells.
They did it on propose AND they annoyed me - griefing by your defenition
I think the word "griefing" is the second most-abused word in SWG after "exploiting" - if the game causes you big distress (which is what griefing really means) - QUIT the GAME!!!
I'm not talking about diseasing a corpse with an AOE attack by accdient. However how do you all feel about the combat medics who kill someone and then purposely disease their corpse?
Is it right or wrong? Post here and explain why.
If you think about it from a reality situation the clone was kept isolated from the original s it should have any of the problems of the original (IE: diseases or poisons). Even in reality diseases don't typically infect dead cells, they go after the live ones so how can a corpse get a disease?
In game I can think of no reason to justify diseasing a corpse. The only proctical usage would be in group on group PvP where you disease a corpse so if he is revived by a doctor his wounds keep him out of the combat for some time. In actuality though its main used (along with other tactics) to cause players excessive downtime waiting for a medic to heal wounds after a PvP battle.
If there was more practical usage for such a thing it may be worth keeping, but since the overwhelming usage of this its purely malicious intent it does not need to be in the game.
