Thread: How many of you plan to drop Combat Medic if 1hp poison goes live?
was already considering dropping the MCM as soon as i got it (finally got it yesturday)
when i was still on medic i wanted to be 'the ultimate healer' that was the only reason i mastered both doctor and combat medic.
i really am enjoying my ranged stim E, yet the poisons i find largely dissapointing, they seem extreamly worthless in pvE (i dont pvp)
I duo all the time with a teras kasi, when i was master doctor i healed fine, and with the buffs, we duo any mission on dathomir easiliy.
Now finally i got MCM for those ranged heals, and i realise that now im here.... what next? i enjoy the working towards a target, yet i have no target anymore. And really the ranged heals alone are probably not worth the skill points i payed, when compared to another proffession i could take up to complement doctor better
This change to poisons makes no difference to me, im waiting to see if mind heals are worth the skill points i used to get combat medic, if not il switch to something else. Not sure yet :/
Realize, our weapons are crafted just like any other. We can experiment on several things: Effectiveness (damage per tick), potency (the chance that it will be resisted), and range. For someone to hit you from 80 meters means they sacrificed points while experimenting on range, instead of effectiveness. So unless you have a mind pool that is 300 points or lower, you aren't getting dropped in 1 tick from 80 meters.
The poisons that hit for 500 are single poison C, and probably fully experimented on effectiveness. That means it doesnt have a high potency, or a long range. Personally, I experiment 2 on potency, and the rest on effectiveness. My poison does 475 a tick (8 secs), hits at a range of around 50 to 55 meters (i dont recall exactly), and is resisted infrequently.
Please, stop the lies.
"I will stay with CM. I do mostly PvE so I will not be affected as much as the FOTM CM's who just want to be uber."
I'll have you know I was one of the first combat medics on any server, so I wouldnt consider myself to be a FOTM combat medic. But **edit** this crap I'll change my career before I let them totally make me useless.
And are you german? Sprechen sie deutches? Nein? Then why do you say uber? Can't you just say super? Does it make you feel cool to come up with a new word that sounds funky?
lol, another ignorant Commando. If they choose to do the same to your flamethrower, prevent it from incapping people, you would be kicking and screaming.
let me be the first to remind you that combat medic does not mean you should do damage on par with a commando, let alone be a damage oriented combat class. youre a medic, the prefix combat means that you are a medic who excels at being a medic in combat, that does not mean you are more lethal than any other profession in the game in pvp.

Uber is not a new word. If you ever played Everquest you'd know that the term "uber" is commonly used in that game. Lot's of people are coming from other different games and have different mindsets and terminology. How many people who never played Quake before were bewildered by the term "frag" or "gibs"?KITE-ING (Keep In Touch Experience)for example was not something too many people knew they could do unless they played EQ. I've never heard of it mentioned in other games.
knus
I'm glad people will quit CM because of this nerf.
I'm tired of seeing a CM everywhere because they could use poisons.
There's no way I'm giving up CM.
you are ABSOLUTELY right! We shouldn't do as much damage as a commando!!!
But I have a surprise for you: we don't ![]()
I've never, EVER, seen a combat medic do 2k damage to someone in pvp, in one shot. It simply isn't possible when we have a DPS of 50 to 100. We also can't give someone 2200 wounds in less than 2 minutes (before the last patch, when you could get more wounds than you actually had health). And we don't have a weapon that does both damage AND wounds at once. And poison/disease can be cured. On Fire! cant be cured, especially in anchorhead ![]()
But it sounds like you got owned by some good CM's, and don't want to use your brain to think up a strategy against them. Your loss ![]()
let me break this down for you ...
commandos do 2k dmg to health + burn at 16m
cms do mind damage (youre dead in 9 seconds w/out a buff) at 80m
80m! you can poison, run away and never be in harms way, commandos on the other hand must get 16m away fromn their target, and even then they can heal themselves with stims, as well as opening the commando up to attack. honestly, having one class be able to outdistance every other class in attack range was not meant to happen, especially an attack that drains (very quickly) a non-healable pool.
oh and to add, because i didnt read your reply carefully enough, commandos do 2k - 4k damage to mobs, to players cut by 3/4ths. poison never got those reductions. so say i do 4k damage, thats 500 damage one hit, since i cant attack again for 9 seconds, ive effectively committed suicide if im fighting a large group of people. poison, (as you said), does 50-100 dmg a sec, but since im not in range to hit you anyway, im just going to die running in vain.
the problems are:
type of damage
magnitude of damage
range of attack
how do you not see this?
A really really GOOD combat medic might get 550 damage a tick. The range would be about 30 to 45m on this. Now assuming that combat medic hit you and you had 900 mind it would take 8 seconds after application and then you have lost 550 mind. You still have 350 mind left. Another 8 seconds and it ticks again taking you to 0. You now have 0 health. 8+8=16 seconds to incap you from at most 45m. This is not an area poison. This is a SINGLE PERSON poison. One of the very best out there.
So 1100 potential damage in 16 seconds. HOW THE **edit** IS THAT OVERPOWERED YOU **edit**ING RETARD?
Again, how in the holy goodness are cm's throwing posions and diseases from 80m? I've NEVER made or seen a posion do that! Again, I guess I'm using super crappy resources or my experimentation isn't going in the right place or something...And, I don't know of many places where you can see 80m away. And believe it or not, cm's must be able to see their target to posion them. So I'm willing to bet that the cm who tries to throw a posion on someone or something from 80m away gets the message; "you cannot see your target".
This isn't really relevant to the topic of this post, but I just had to comment on that. Everyone seems to think cm's rule PvP. Well please show me one! I've fought quite a few cm's and seen quite a few other fight and I don't see them soloing entire cities of the opposing faction. However, I see loads of bh's, commandos, riflemen, pistoleers and ch's who put serious whuppin's on 5-7 people at the same time. WITHOUT DYING. Can't tell you how many times I've died and gone back to check the combat chat channel and read; "so and so uses such and such attack on you for 360 points of damage! You shoot at so and so and hit for 45 points of damage! So and so shoots at you and hits for 275 points of damage! You shoot at so and so but he dodges out of the way. You catch on fire! You have been knocked down! You shoot at so and so and hit for 110 points of damage! You feel dizzy! So and so uses such and such attack on you for 490 points of damage! You have been incapacitated by so and so".
Grrr...no edit function.
Anyway, in between the two or three shots from my pistol that actually hit, my posion did about 230 points of damage because it got to tick twice. Meaning That whole battle lasted a whole 16 seconds. Yea, I can see how everyone thinks we cm's are overpowered...
ive seen 80m, our server is full of them.
now in response to the person before you...
BECAUSE YOU'RE ATTACKING FROM 80M AWAY!
on top of that, its a pure dot attack, which means you can attack, ands run away, run into a building, get killed etc., and that person still dies, FROM AN UNHEALABLE MIND POOL. there initially was a reason that rifles did less dps than pistols/carbines, because they do mind damage. obviously cm was never brought up in that discussion.
