Thread: CM poison (and who knows what else): way too much damage.
This is an old argument now and really we just have to stop responding each time this is posted.
The problem now is that mind damage in the enitre game (meaning damage done by Mobs, by Eye shot, by mind shot etc etc ad nasuem) severly outclasses any other damage because there is no way to heal it up.
If that gets fixed or addressed, then the griping about CMs stops.
I'll also have to agree / disagree if we take a few things into view:
As it currently stands the combat medic only has one real offensive weapon, these poisons. When you compare their dps to that of any other combatitive class in the game you will find that it is FAR lower than what any melee or range class can achieve. Also in order to achieve that sort of effectiveness you have to surrender the range so a cm is forced into a 40m ish range to actaully apply damage. Any ranged class can kite that very easily. So all of these things listed above is why I disagree with your statement, however there are the issues that I do believe become a problem and bring people to cringe about cm dots:
Unlike bleed dots and fire dots which can be alleviated rather easily through either first aid (which I'd say more than 50% of players have) or a quick jump in the water, the poison dots however require a trained doctor multiple C level poison packs to remove it which is a problem. The fact that the poison is not quickly alleviated after a battle is completed makes it somewhat a griefing tool. That also leads into the next big issue of the mind pool. Health and action dots arent all that bad, they can be taken care of by any regular medic just by patience and a barrel of stims. Of course mind it isnt the same case so we have this issue of people crying its too strong its too powerful when the issue isnt the strength of the dots, its the way the mindpool works.
So its not actually our fault, its the fact that we're still working with this bogus ham setup and the mind bar. Personally I donttry not touse mind dots anymore as its come to the point that it could be viewed as griefing.
I don't know if the CMs around Coronet on Bria are just using crappy poisons or what, but I have NEVER had a poisoned patient that I couldn't one shot heal. I've been a doc for a while, and I guess I've gotten good at crafting high quality meds, but I still find it hard to believe that EVERY case of poison I've seen is from a 'bad' poison. Maybe your doctors just aren't too talented.
As for the thread topic, I don't think the damage is really all that high. I don't need to restate everything that was said in the previous posts, so if you want my opinion on this, just assume that I agree with most of the posts above about the the comparable DPS to ranged/melee weapons.

"Considering that my guns dont come anywhere near that type of damage, I dont see how its justifiable that a poison attack can be this powerful in pvp. This a throwback to the way pvp was prior to the 75% reduction stuff."
What is your level of weapon mastery? FYI, 450 dot is a Combat Medic Master poison. When I was a Master Pistoleer my pistol shots did the same if not more damage than that depending on the weapon I was using. Your statement is false. Come back when you know more before screaming wa wa I got ganked.

I experiment with effectiveness first over charges when making poison cure Cs.Other docs in groups I've been in have commented it took them at least 2 cures to wipe a player made poison. My guess is effectiveness plays a big role in curing the severity of the poison. I remember when starting out as a Doc I got messages like "The poison has subsided" meaning it was gone, to "The poisons severity has decreased" which like bleeding it was still there just lessened and I would have to apply another cure. Ever since I started to max effectiveness when experimenting cures, I have had no issues curing anything in one shot.
In summation, unless your cures are top notch, be wary of CMs that make the more potent poisons.

poison always works in pvp, ALWAYS, and if you get mind poisoned (which is the only poison that gets used, ever) thats all she wrote, you WILL get incap because theres literaly nothing you can do, unless your a doctor. this coupled with the tef bug, is a 100% sure fire way to kill a person, even if you have to die in the prosses. so the solution is 1 or a combination of the following:
reduce the dmg and/or duration of poison
remove the ablility to poison the mind bar (probably not gonna happen, i doubt people would go for this, but i had to get it out there)
allow anyone to use cure state packs
its not as if master combat medic takes all your points, and you have no other way of dealing dmg
