Thread: CM poison (and who knows what else): way too much damage.

This is an old argument now and really we just have to stop responding each time this is posted.

The problem now is that mind damage in the enitre game (meaning damage done by Mobs, by Eye shot, by mind shot etc etc ad nasuem) severly outclasses any other damage because there is no way to heal it up.

If that gets fixed or addressed, then the griping about CMs stops.

I'll also have to agree / disagree if we take a few things into view:

As it currently stands the combat medic only has one real offensive weapon, these poisons. When you compare their dps to that of any other combatitive class in the game you will find that it is FAR lower than what any melee or range class can achieve. Also in order to achieve that sort of effectiveness you have to surrender the range so a cm is forced into a 40m ish range to actaully apply damage. Any ranged class can kite that very easily. So all of these things listed above is why I disagree with your statement, however there are the issues that I do believe become a problem and bring people to cringe about cm dots:

Unlike bleed dots and fire dots which can be alleviated rather easily through either first aid (which I'd say more than 50% of players have) or a quick jump in the water, the poison dots however require a trained doctor multiple C level poison packs to remove it which is a problem. The fact that the poison is not quickly alleviated after a battle is completed makes it somewhat a griefing tool. That also leads into the next big issue of the mind pool. Health and action dots arent all that bad, they can be taken care of by any regular medic just by patience and a barrel of stims. Of course mind it isnt the same case so we have this issue of people crying its too strong its too powerful when the issue isnt the strength of the dots, its the way the mindpool works.

So its not actually our fault, its the fact that we're still working with this bogus ham setup and the mind bar. Personally I donttry not touse mind dots anymore as its come to the point that it could be viewed as griefing.

Well think of it liek this 430 a tick every 8 seconds is a dps of 50. all of you guns do way more than 50 damage a second so your are right cm's poisions and disease are WAY underpowered.

I don't know if the CMs around Coronet on Bria are just using crappy poisons or what, but I have NEVER had a poisoned patient that I couldn't one shot heal. I've been a doc for a while, and I guess I've gotten good at crafting high quality meds, but I still find it hard to believe that EVERY case of poison I've seen is from a 'bad' poison. Maybe your doctors just aren't too talented.

As for the thread topic, I don't think the damage is really all that high. I don't need to restate everything that was said in the previous posts, so if you want my opinion on this, just assume that I agree with most of the posts above about the the comparable DPS to ranged/melee weapons.

"Considering that my guns dont come anywhere near that type of damage, I dont see how its justifiable that a poison attack can be this powerful in pvp. This a throwback to the way pvp was prior to the 75% reduction stuff."

What is your level of weapon mastery? FYI, 450 dot is a Combat Medic Master poison. When I was a Master Pistoleer my pistol shots did the same if not more damage than that depending on the weapon I was using. Your statement is false. Come back when you know more before screaming wa wa I got ganked.

oh yeah, one more thing, when I was a master Pistoleer (gave it up to go doctor to help my partners more) I could shoot you faster for more damage in your health pool than my mind poison would tick. God I'm so sick of people crying nerf this nerf that. Go try out a Combat Medic if we're so uber. If you'll notice, there isn't a lot of cm's out there, that tells you something don't it? Better yet, go master your weapon profession and you'll find yourself on more even footing with the master's of their classes, not just a master combat medic.

Let me reiterate, a poison tics anywhere from 3-5s, lets go with a 3s tic for it to be worthwhile. A pistol at master level shoots every 1s, that means in 3s on an average i'm shooting 140x1.5(basic shot with no styles)this is using a scout blaster and this is every second, do the math. If you as a say a master pistoleer did 450 every 3-5s in PVP you would bitch that you sucked. Again that 450 dot is a master combat medic

I experiment with effectiveness first over charges when making poison cure Cs.Other docs in groups I've been in have commented it took them at least 2 cures to wipe a player made poison. My guess is effectiveness plays a big role in curing the severity of the poison. I remember when starting out as a Doc I got messages like "The poison has subsided" meaning it was gone, to "The poisons severity has decreased" which like bleeding it was still there just lessened and I would have to apply another cure. Ever since I started to max effectiveness when experimenting cures, I have had no issues curing anything in one shot.

In summation, unless your cures are top notch, be wary of CMs that make the more potent poisons.

I totally agree with what the CMs here post. At least you CAN do something against a poison. Against KDfire its just bye bye, once you're dizzy. And to bring the DPS of a poison into the discussion is ridiculous, you ran into a MASTER CM. Do you expect Master Carbineers to hit you for 450dmg every 3s? Heck no, they hit for more and every second at that.

Get some Muon gold next time.

poison always works in pvp, ALWAYS, and if you get mind poisoned (which is the only poison that gets used, ever) thats all she wrote, you WILL get incap because theres literaly nothing you can do, unless your a doctor. this coupled with the tef bug, is a 100% sure fire way to kill a person, even if you have to die in the prosses. so the solution is 1 or a combination of the following:

reduce the dmg and/or duration of poison

remove the ablility to poison the mind bar (probably not gonna happen, i doubt people would go for this, but i had to get it out there)

allow anyone to use cure state packs

its not as if master combat medic takes all your points, and you have no other way of dealing dmg

poison always work in pvp? um NOT. I've been resisted and resisted over and over. I can do one of two things..... To get my poisons resisted less I have to sacrifice dot output. When making a poison you have 3 things to experiment on- charges, ease of use and effectiveness.charges increases my range and how many i will get in a stack, ease of use increases my potency(this means how well it will stick and how often the tics are i'm assuming[haven't played around with this but going to]) and also increase the ease of use. Effectiveness increases, of course, damage output. Using all advance componants accept resiliance (since we can't make those atm) and if i put all into effectiveness i can get a 558 dot- the potency (how well it's resisted) is at 65-70 depending on the oq of the rest of the resources that went into making the poison. This means that 558 dot will get resisted 40% or so. That's pretty hefty in short VERY short battles. CM's don't get 2nd chances, throw a poison, hope it sticks and hope it tics before you die. In my experiance that's not often. NOW tonight I made a disease with a 95% potency. You ain't gonna resist it. I've yet to test the damage output of the disease but I also made a poison with the same results, the poison had a effectiveness of 150- that means a 200-250 dot; but chances are you ain't going to resist it. Why am I saying this? Well partly to say we're NOT gods, we're not masters, those AOE guys who run out of the cloning center... that's NOT cm issue that's a bloody tef issue. Any other class can jsut as easily run out of the cloning center and do the same thing. And if you'll notice these "whiny" babys are complaining just that on each and every board, need I show you the posts? I'm also saying this to show you what we go through to MAKE these UBER meds. These UBER meds are also MASTER CM. you guys just don't get it. And again I say if we're so UBER go become a CM, I'd love to see it, cause we're a RARE RARE breed.

oh yeah... and that comment... nothing you can do unless you're a doctor? Um.. well docs can cure poison and disease on other people.......Maybe you should think about having a doc in your group.
