Thread: BHs lobbying to get medic skills build into class
Get real dude.. you have plenty of points to spend on medic too. BH already gets incredible speed bonuses,a heavy weapon, knockdown, burn damage, and added accuracy. And you want free heals?
I am a BHer. I would like to see some medic abilities in the BHer profession. Here is my basic idea (dons poison proof clothing - hey at least I know what forum I am in :-)
First the background of the situation.
Investigation sucks (even for those of use who like it). It is about 300+ hours assuming there are no bugs (mark doesn't show up, mark is not attackable, mark is in the wall of a building). Marks can only be done solo.
Do you want to follow me to the middle of Endor to heal me? For a share in the... lets see 10900 credits is what I make right now... Corellia->Naboo->Endor->>Naboo (I can get a mission on Endor and talk to an informant on Naboo - and then I am probably off to Lok)... that is about 11000 - 700+2200+2200+1000 (for cloning) = 4900 profit. But wait... I forgot your expenses that puts us into the hole... so now you will be paying for the fun of healing me. That takes around 1 hour of our time from taking the mission to talking to the next informant.
So for 1 hour of work we have lost money - all so you can throw 1 or 2 stims at me. Ok if you want to do that I am all for it - lets go.
I am going to assume that you do not want to do the above. Right? If you do want to go and are on kettemoor then please let me know I'd like some company on my trips (you pay your own way though :-)
So give that investigation sucks... and we have to solo things that have 10K (or more) HAMs... we are looking for somethings to make the investigation line more "popular". That is how the thread got started (at the moment the idea is dead... but still kicking).
I typically use 1 or 2 stim-Bs per mark (I don't use buffs since I don't know how long I will be travelling) and I don't use spice. I on occasion forage for something and eat it. I don't use pets (hey if I am going to travel for an hour I want to kill the thing myself).
Here is a proposal that would benefit both of us (yeah BHers more... but I don't think it is too offensive to medic based professions):
Only in the investigation line add the ability to use BH Stim Packs.
These stim packs are only craftable my those in the medical profession.
The stim packs can only be used by a BHer.
The Stim pack can only be use on the BHer (we are not out to heal the world, pets, etc...).
The stim packs are costly to make (require stuff from advanced planets) and thus costly to sell
(you make money - more than you do for selling me a stim-B).
The stim packs perform "poorly" in comparison to Stim-Bs - at each level of investigation and BH you can use more advanced versions - but all version are less OR there is only one version but we get faster at using it.
It would be "better" for a BHer doing investigation to get novice medic and use Stim-Bs... but not a requirement. Remeber we are forced to solo on advanced planets (well ok some people use pets and some people abort missions on advanced planets... a fix for part of that would be to not allow grouping of pets on marks - but that is another topic) so having novice medic is pretty much a requirement.
Note that the 0-X-X-X BHers (those that want to be the uber PvPers) do not get this - and even if they did take it they are better off getting novice medic (more bang for the buck and it comes with a trip to the medic trainer not 300+ hours of soloing).
This isn't really a "we want to do everything" sort of thing... rather it is a "we wan't to be able to do our job more effectively" thing.
Thanks for your time... poison away.
"Seriously though, how can you people NOT find it juvenile to request this? If it's a problem and you just need healing for the investigation line, here's a thought: this game has given you the ability to lose unwanted skills, so get novice medic and FA2 until you complete investigation and then LOSE THEM."
Perhapos because I intened to keep doing marks after I reach master - I am after all a bounty hunter (in game)... killing marks is what I have chosen to do. Would you ask a master armorsmith to stop making armor? Should a master CM stip poisoining people? (No I don't actually ahve anything agaoins poison - just wait until we ask for poison darts that work on people though :-)
"I don't want to see a bounty hunter have MORE skill points to spend in pistoleer so they can eyeshot me better."
I personally think that once you take BHer you should be barred from any other combat profession. I dislike the fact that the mods stack as much as anoyone (except for those that do it of course).
"Sorry to say it, but you guys sound like the little rich girl from "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory" - I want it all!""
I just want the tools to do my profession as effectivly as possible.
Seriously do you think somone is going to get Master BHer (300+ hours of investigation) for a less effective heal than they can get at novice medic when it leaves them with the same skill points left over?
0-4-4-4 BH = 217 - 1 - 2 - 4 - 5 = 202 + 15 (for medic) = 217.
Why bother? You can grab novive medic in all of a second - not 300+ hours... and you can be a much better healer.
0-4-4-4 BH = 217 - 1 - 2 - 3 - 4 = 207 + 15 (for medic) = 222.
Off by 5 - but the argument is pretty much the same... 5 points doesn't buy you a whole lot.
well it ain't gonna happen, however useful it ight be. doc/CM doesn't get any surveying either to search for those umpteen special resources (which would be even more following your "special BH stim" train of thought). also it would attract even more 1337s to the BH line as is ("what BH can heal himself now? dude i am SO rolling a BH") which isn't in anyone's interest i guess.
even if you want to do some investigation once you hit MBH, still enough left for novice medic... so...

I was not whining about losing money really - I was just describing the missions - showing the impracticality of the situation.
The whole game depends on balance. Grouping. Needing each other to function. It sounds to me like you are just looking for a better way to solo. Players should depend on Medics/Docs/CMs to keep them healed through a fight. Just like they need to depend on an armorsmith to craft them some decent armor, a weaponsmith for a good weapon, an entertainer to heal their mind wounds, a Droid Engineer to provide them with droids, an Architect to build them a house etc...
What's next? "Well I feel SOE should allow me to heal my own mind wounds like an entertainer as this will allow me to not have to depend on anyone else when my mind is severly wounded. The BH missions are too hard as I have to do them solo and carrying around all the creds I've made from previous missions along with the gagglefkk of FP I've gotten from previous missions is just too much of a burden for me when I proceed to my next mission."
/sarcasm off
Don't come looking to the medic/doc/CM forums for sympathy. We got enough issues with having to deal with low FP gain, crappy mission rewards, having to find ways to stay afloat in this economy of high priced/hard to find resources. You know how we deal with it? We group with others. How can you deal with it? Bite the bullet and hire a medic/doc/CM to come babysit you on a mission. I know plenty of BHs that use their extra points to buy up some CH skills and get a Graul to tank. Then you would have to purchase pet stims so now you'd be depending on a BE.Boo hoo. Otherwise spend the points to get novice medic like we had to toget decent weapon skills.
You think it's bad getting Investigation XP?Try Medical Crafting.

What you viewa CM as and what the website says are completely irrelevant to our skill set. Did you know thatthere are no slicingbonuses listed in the smuggler tree? I guess that means thatsmugglers shouldn't be able to slice any better than you either!
Frankly, I'm somewhat tired of the BH'scoming over to troll our boards..have we gone a day yet without a BH posting about how we're overpowered HERE?
mm.... Did you happen to miss the original post on this thread? It is calling for going over to BH forum to protest. So it would kinda leave this particular thread open for reply in kind wouldn't you say?
And as for what web site say, well here it the direct quote
"Combat Medic: A healer who also has some field training to increase his odds of survival in battle."
and a link for you to go for yourself.

That and the fact that your profession is not handled by combat designer, but (and this is my guess) by healer or support designer lead me to think that you are (and it is just my guess) a healer and not a combat profession.

The big difference here is that we require combat experience (see Marksman) to even gain entry into Combat Medic. So here's my solution: Add an additional required Medical Line to the BH requirements (yup, 29 points) then you can get healing skills if ya want... and you can use your 4 left over skills points to polish your Schwinn you juvenile freaks.
Sounds good. And since CM as HEALER profession want defense bonus, weapon speed, accuracy bonus, accuracy while moving, special moves, terrain negotiation as well as bio weapon certs, I guess there is master marksman and line or two of scout as pre-req for CM. Then you can get all this offensive skills and terrain negotiation skills you want. After all, you are not required to KEEP any of your markman weapon skill once you have the required marksman SUPPORT skill.
And oh yhea!

I got this off your CM wanted list. And it is my understand that you find this "reasonable" request for CM. Then I am frankly surprised that you are not more understand to BH's wants.
#2. Combat Medic Support line
improving the skills set of the CM by possibly providing such things as defense bonuses, weapons speed and accuracy bonuses, accuracy while moving bonuses, special moves of a defensive nature, more Terrain Negotiation or even the addition of state attacks and/or schematics (such as a Stun or Blind grenade, or saleable chemical ammo usable by other professions).
· A better spread of skills throughout the tree, and not at just Master, is also requested, in order to provide a set of useful skills outside of only those available at Master CM.
#8. Bio Weapons
CMs seem to like the idea for a more standard combat option within the Combat medic tree. Something like a Bio rifle, pistol, or carbine. This would be similar to a commando gun, starting at the novice Combat medic box and gaining +speed +Accuracy type stuff that only applies to that gun. Suggestions have been made to give such a weapon a few specials, possibly with special status effects attached to it, or just damage augmenting specials. Rifles have been suggested because rifles normally have a Mind cost attached to their special uses as a balancing point more effectively because health and action special costs would be pointless to a Profession that can heal those more often. It could be rationalized in the SWG universe as a Radiation Gun, Poison darts, Poison gas, Gravity gun or whatever, just something to the effect of causing instant damage to a biological system. Further balance could be given to the consideration that any particular special of a weapon may need to use some form of crafted “ammo”.
====================
And what else was there.... Oh yhea
Why don'tcha hop on over to Doctor Forum and ask them how "reasonable" they feel CM is asking for..
21. Resuscitate for CMs
· Moving or at least granting Resuscitate to Combat Medic is requested.
I guess if you look thru your own wanted list, you sound little like that girl from Chocolate Factory too huh?
yay let's generalize! all BHs are 1337wannabes, all CM want combat uberness and doctors skills to boot. i know i don't, all i would have liked was for our subcomponent crafting we would actually used combat medic crafting bonus, but we use doctors crafting. guess what i did... i shtucked my CH skills and went novice doctor and am working up the crafting tree as we speak, works well and i might even pick up some rezz-skills along the way. i wanted better crafting i decided to pick up the aditional skills to suplement my profession. you want healing? become a medic.
if you don't have a solid argument pointing out faults in the opponents arguing or completely changing the subject (to theCM wishlist) ain't gonna make your argument any better...

I see what you are saying, that with the way investigation is now, you basically have to have medic skill or a medic with you to kill your marks and just paying for the medic's ticket would make you lose money. I think they need to fix it so you don't have to have healing to take out your marks instead of giving you healing ability or pay you more money (sound like they need to anyway) so you could take a medic along or both. I just don't think it makes sense for a profession to have healing in it when none of the prereqs are healing and making some healing a prereq for you would not really help (you are already taking novice medic anyway) and wouldn't make a whole lot of sense.
This is a similar situation to medics as a whole basically having to take novice artisan for survey, though at least you can probably drop novice medic once you complete your investigation tree (or maybe not, not sure). I don't think I will ever drop novice artisan, but I accepted it, even though I still hope that will change the way surveying works eventually. Anyway, good luck getting it fixed.
As for the folks saying we shouldn't get TN, we already have it at master, so it isn't something new they are adding to the profession.
