Thread: Riflemen/Combat Medic Viable?
but take note that u can't heal while prone...........
also ur rifle acc goes to hell when moving
so if u try to heal poeple in ur group who all too often don't stay close enough (even with the great range on those range Es) u will have to move to heal some people, which is why pistol is kind of nice for medics
one great postive is that if u are rifleman u might stand better against opposing rifleman who often whack the medics first
- Korvein Kianeek - CM/Doc (and still considering rifleman) Ahazi
my question is if u are sniping ur not healing..why bother with combat medic...snipers arent usually close to the grp they are with...Master medic i can understand for self heals and downtime reduction, but most of the time a sniper is far from the main grp and that makes healing quiet hard even with ranged stims...and if u are in a grp pvp situation, the sniping is gonna delay your heals too keep the grp alive...
not to mention ull be out of the range for disease and dots which negates 1/2 of the advantage of being a CM (well its bugged so even if u do dot its useless lol)
just my 2 cents...
Okay, so I'm currently a Rifle Specialist. I have about 18k of combat exp I need to gain before I can become a combat medic, so I have some time if I want to change weapons.
Is healing speed supposed to be dictated by the speed of the weapon? Has there been any word that this is the way it is, and the way it will be?
Are there any plans to provide a way to heal mind damage (NOT wounds) in the field? (One of the reasons I went rifle was to do "blue" damage, that isn't healable in the field, particularly for pvp).
If I were to change from rifle, which would be better; carbine or pistol? I intend to take the weapon of choice all the way to pistoleer, rifleman, or carbineer. Seems like to me, if healing speed is based (and continues to be based) on weapon speed, I'd be an idiot to stay with rifle, and should move to pistol.
My goal as a combat medic would be to be able to FIGHT and HEAL. I don't intend to be a walking bandaid, whose sole purpose is to heal. I want to be able to hand out significant damage. This is one of the reasons I'm ignoring the doctor skills, even though I'm just wasting med exp at this point. (I'm full master medic with an additional 30k med exp... capped.)
actually my solution for this is to just pull healing during combat out of the medic and doctor lines and make it a CM only skill...hence the title Combat Medic...
Then have it linked to the speed tree in CM so u can heal faster as u progress up the tree...
that why CM have an advantage over doctors in combat healing...
Thanks for the response Elenora. I believe I understand how combat and healing work (when in combat)but the question was whether or not this is the way it is supposed to be. Because if it is, then I should definately change my weapon to a quicker one. There is also the range issue... right now I have to run from person to person trying to heal them. I can't wait till I can use ranged stims.
I think its made to be like that...healing while fighting without a penalty would see awkward to me...trying to shoot drugs into some1 or throw them a healing grenade will definately require more attention than can be give while focusing on shooting...
if you look at how healing works with specials..you cant heal if you have specials in the bar( unless u have already queued heals inbetween the special)
Besides if you think about it, in a game like DAOC you cant even attack and cast heals so, I'll take my auto-attack and heals and smile quietly...
Heya, i m currently Sniper/CM and it works well for me, maybe it s not the best combo but it works fine.
I'm not getting into tactical issues with sniping but mostly i m not going on field battle, guerilla is my way.
I'm sure TK or Swordman / CM would be an awesome combo tho.
My PvP and PvE experience just showed me that the best combo doesn t make the best player...
Kitsu Heaven.
I'm a rifle specialist and nearly master medic (missing first aid IV), I think since a medic usually wears lighter armor and has less health its good to be in the rear of the pack for pvm and sniping does nothing but help you. Also keep in mind there is many kinds of rifles, with all kinds of speeds. A spray Stick is around 2.0 sec's to shoot and relitivly close range, then when u get far away toss on that T21. When u get to pvp and you got your skills maxed out rely on your commen sense and L33t connection. If you are high in both you will do just fine. If you lack in one or the other could get rough.
K'o of flurry
havent meet a sniper would could solo me yet...
ther only time i have been soloed is when i got jumped by a TKA...
why would u ever try to mind sniper a zabrek medic? dont u know they /equilibrum?
here another reason to not me a rifle/medic...
rifle is most effective in prone...
you cant heal prone...
