Hi, I was thinking about makin a Riflemen/Combat Medic combo, I'm really orienting this char to PvP a lot, I'm thinkin some one that can shoot some one far away and if nessecary heal themselves. I was originally going to the Riflemen/Ranger route but it turns out that Rangers are mostly geared to PvE because thier traps and warfarying abilities won't work in PvP. Anyways I was wondering if you think this is a good idea or have any other combos involving a Riflemen coupled with a profession.

that will likely be a very viable combo

This isthe route I'm going. My only complaint so far is that to heal some of my groupmates, I have to get closer than the "ideal" range with my rifle. I assume this will improve as I can use better medicines.

You healing range increases as you move up the combat medic tree.

I'm trying to figure where to go as well, rifle or pistol (or carbine I guess). Will healing range increase enoguh to be out at a decent rifle range and still heal folks?

Thanks

Well, what I'm worried about is that rifle attacks use Mind, and guess what? So does heals, so I went carbine for now because it's mid-range..huge action cost though

Maybe I'll have to give carbine a shot. I'm rodian, so action is never a problem. Mind does go pretty fast however. Maxed out mind statsaren't that great on a rodian. I've been doing pistol since I'm often up close during the fight to heal, figured that short range is good.

I am playing Indralia DirtyTricks on Kauri

Im going CM too

I have riffle 3 and trapping 2 (or 1, i dont remember).

I have mastered First Aid IV (and now need about 350 teaching xp !)

Good trick to solo : Make a grenade (Glow-juice or something... gives a penalty to the creatures vs ranged attacks). Kneel (at about 30 paces from the creature, giving your a +45 modifier), throw the grenade and use powershot (or your most powerfull attack). One shots greens/blues and some whites. Need about 2 shots for a yellow. Reds are still invincible tho, except if it is trying to fire at you from a range

Crafting medecines is funny, altough a bit long ? Guys, just find a nice place with ressources (metal in mountains, chemicals in cities, etc hehe) and sample the place while you craft (Wood is a good thing to harvest, as well as chemical and (of course !) water !!) If you do it in the wild, make a camp. This way, you'll do a lot of xp's of different types.

I did start placing structures all around (the night i found how it worked)... 8 structures in the same day... now i got 3 left and i dont plan to have more. One windmaker (in a 78% spot ) one Steel and one Chemical. One chemical is coming, and ill be able to have everything i need to craft medicines (unless some high-end stuff needs nuclear or something to do)

If you need a heal/grenade, send a tell in game

The only problem is rifles tend to be slow weapons and you will not heal in combat as fast as with carabine/pistol.

I noticed rate of fire effects time between heals alot and I want to be able to heal my group quickly if the situation does change so, In end game what has the faster rate of fire? Pistols or Carbines. Also what works better with our DOTs?

it doesn't realy matter what weapon you use.

you canmacro /peace;/healdamage to get instant heals, except when you have direct agro. the thing is, if you have that as a Medic, you did something wrong in first place or are doing PvP. And in PvP every weapon has it's use.

I dont think rifle is very viable...carbine pistol is much more effective...

Rifle delay is too long..and yes weapon speed does matter...even with peace...because healing takes an action and delays between the weapon shots will effect this...I've tested it usuing a 2.3 scout blaster and a 3.8 fwg5 I get heals off much faster...

the range you will mostly likely be at with CM is most likely inside the ideal range of the rifle. i have distance 2 right now and my ranged stims go about 24 or so meters. Besides even with ranged heals, the normal stims will heal more and I basically use ranged heals as a hold over until i can close and drop a stim D.

> you can macro /peace;/healdamage to get instant heals

There is still small delay, it won't work well if you are being attacked and you'll have to retarget before and after the heal.

It's much easier to fire away while switching between groupmates, you contribute damage (and it can be quite a lot , being Combat Medic means at least Novice (Rifleman / Pistoleer / Carabiner) while performing your main duty efficiently.
