No, potency is basicallychance to hit. The higher the better. 60-70 is like 60-70%. Also potency determines how hard it is to have a Doctor cure poison. If it is higher it is harder for a doc to remove the poison. Experament with ease of use to get the potency higher.
Actually this is wrong, potency only determines the resist factor. The way a Doctors cure works is by removing a set number of points. Takea poison that does 650 damage and apply a highly experimented Cure Poison C and you will see about 400+ poison damage cured, leaving the remaining 250 still ticking away.

dayam... my info was wrong for the components (or rather it's dated as I think that was what it used to be). Here's what stats are important now...
A. Dispersal Mechanism:
charges OQ-75% Decay-25%
Effective Range OQ-66% Decay-33%
Area Effect OQ-66% Decay-33%
A. Infection Amplifier:
PowerOQ-66% Decay-33%
A. Resilience Compound:
Potency OQ-66% Decay-33%
Duration Decay-60% OQ-40%
This is info directly off my tool, kinda sucks
. I have 200k of what should have been a really nice titanium alum... which is now crap with double digit decay. bleh.
