Thread: Petition for new CM Correspondant
Note that one doesn't have to log in to read the forums, or to play the game. Also, this is summer-time; and as others have noted, there is a RL that we all participate in (hopefully more so than the game), and this is vacation time.
Smells like sour grapes to me.
/sigh
yes, I do have this thing called a life despite popular belief. And no I don't check forums religiously as I'm sure many of you will probably hate about how I work things. So let me explain WHY I wasn't around so maybe those that wish to remove me from my position can better understand.
Firstly, I have a job, gotta pay the bills somehow. I do manual labor so when I get home I'm tired, the last thing I typically want to do is read through 100+ posts most of which are flames, or the same things that have been posted already. No offense to those that post legitemate issues, I appreciate every one of you.
Secondly, sometimes I feel that SWG is like having a second job, this is without being the Correspondant. Just seems like a chore every time a log in. Could be me, could be the game who knows who cares I'm entitled to my opinion.
Thirdly, we, the correspondants, have been asked to not submit new issues until they address the last weekly report. Which to my knowledge has not been done yet. I was going to post the weekly report when I submitted it last week but I got sidetracked with RL issues and was unable to get it posted. I will do so soon.
I ask that if you have a generally good list of issues that have NOT been addressed already please email them to me: josh@equinox-designs This is my private email address so I ask that you don't spam it, or send flames to it out of courtesy to me. Granted you can and probably will do whatever you want.
I hope this clears up this issue, thank you.
For what it's worth...
I completely understand about rl and gaming. I too work very hard every day and are tired at the end of it. I don't want SWG to become a second job and that is precisely why i did not volunteer to be the correspondant.
As unpopular as it is i have to agree with Khragon, why did you volunteer for what was clearly a labor intensive job? We can all make excuses for why you arent active on the boards but the fact remains that you arent. Neither am I and as such Im not representing a whole class of characters in this game. If you truly have no intention to engage in the discussions and would rather us just email you privately with our issues, I don't think you are representing us as a group, the point of this forum is to discuss the issues we have with this class, not to email them to nowhere and hope that they get fixed.
I have to vote yes on this petition, I am in the same position as the correspondant juggling real life and gaming and wouldn't want me as a correspondant, so i can't rightly want someone who isn't super-up-to-date with the issues like say Elenora is.
Personally I dont know whyyou arent the correspondant Elenora.
Course that's just my opinion I could be wrong...
Long' Sahpoone - Aspiring CM
You misunderstand my post. I never said I didn't think it would be more work. What I did say is that I don't want to read through 100+ posts on issues that have been addressed 100 times already. Yes disease/poisons suck, yes AOE is broken, yes support is useless, yes crafting sucks, yes XP is slow and we all don't realy know what the point of this class is anymore. I understand these, and have them noted. What I want is NEW information, when someone figures out "Hey! I just got that AOE to work! and this is what I did!" THAT kind of info tells me it's not broken, it's just a royal pain in the butt to get working. That means they don't need to look through for a bug, they need to rework the code to make it easier. Things like that make the devs have an easier time fixing the stuff we think is broken.
That was just an example, in no way am I saying it's not broken. At this point in time, with the information I have all the issues we all know and hate are legitemate. All I'm asking is that we stop posting "Disease/Poison, What's the point?" posts because we all know it doesn't work. It just makes my sifting through the posts take longer than it needs to. I don't think this is a "cop out" of work, I think repeat posts on the same subject are uneccessary and pointless. NEW information is more valuable than anything.
i think the idea of disease and the effects of in PvP is a good hot subject right now that hasnt really been addressed...
its not a complaint or a bug but more of a issue of gameplay and is there another more effective effect that disease could have over causing wounds over time...
Also Im thinking possible additions of combat bonuses for training in support might be a great thing for us. something to say help keep us from being knockdown and not able to heal or just ranged defense or melee defense to help us stay alive in combat so we can do our jobs of healing...
otherwise flithy is right, many of the old posts are the same reasons for and against everytime... even i have to admit i get tired of posting the same reasons to the same issues everyday...but that also shows that these are huge issues to us and the devs should know how huge they are...
A problem that is running rampant all over all the boards here.
All the correspondants are floating, waiting for their first response (except Commandos, who hated theirs).
It also seems, some of us got the "hold off on new issues until old issues are addressed" e-mail(which also included some format info, and some info on how to do stickys) and some did not.
I didn't get one, but another correspondant forwarded me a copy. I wrote Q, asking what is up with that...
Something people here should also note, even if Filthy sent in a list every day, from now on, we are looking at a patch every month (3-5 weeks). Even if the devs agree with everything, it may be quite some time before you see the fixes.

Could do with the fact that I have 3 warnings in my emailfrom the CSR for critizing someone on my server board who was basically posting about how he used exploits in game and boasted about it...lol..same guy who build his PA hall on top of another PA's hall, a PA that was made of players that had quit the not so nice player's PA...
that and i have sent some choice words to the CSR for their responses to my open tickets...including a responseon a bug onthe game removing me from my faction basically erasing 3000 fp worth of fp in ranks. Their response was we know about the bug but it is our policy not to return lost items or faction points due to bugs...
suffice it to say the CSRs dont like me and I dont like the CSRs...could be why i wasnt picked as a correspondant...
Yeah those CSRs don't like to hear how they're terrible at the job they're being paid for. God forbid someone in charge sees the posts. I'm glad to see someone else uses choice wording. I think every 10th bug I send in is all "f"s. So about two of those a day. Here's the newest for me: rebel c3-po missions are broken once you get to Lt.Lance, Jedi temple missions on Dantooine are broken, Jabba the Hut is just a fat slug (been there and seen that and it wasn't worth the 4km walk to get there).
Odd things: even though my title over my head says Master Combat Medic people still expect I'd heal their wounds gratis. Lower level combat medics think you should be forced to train them for free. I'm not handing out credits to people and I'm not handing out supplies or materials to people. Oh and lastly, "can u heal me plz" isn't a sentence. My friends may ask for heals anyway they want to and I'll do it, random d()0d sp34kers don't get heals at all.
I think the idea of a correspondent is stupid anyway. Doing a poor job of it is kind of funny though. You're basically working (or not working) and getting flamed for it yet you volunteer even though you have a wicked busy and interesting life. Let the devs read their own boards, not sure why they get away with being lazy. They released an unfinished game and now they are resting on their laurals? Top 10 issues should be "finish the game" x 10.
You said the game feels like work? Are you even playing the game? Elenora said she hadnt seen you in some time, which tells me you are playing the game about as much as you read here. Is it necessary to be here daily? No...but you took this responsibility on yourself knowing what your RL situation is. Do not forget YOU represent the thousands of CM's playing the game who actually care and want it to get fixed. It helps for us to have a representative whos actively communicating and playing the game to do this, and if the game seems like "work" to you, then maybe you should re-consider the fact that you asked to do this.
We could all use the Real life card as an excuse, but fact is you are the Rep because you asked to be, act like it.
Quore, a CSR not able or not allowed to solve certain issues does not mean the CSR is doing a bad job. I can understand beeing upset if things don't work the way they should and i can understand beeing upset if the person supposed to help can not do so, but neither is the fault of the CSR. And detailed information of all circumstances of the broken feature will certainly help more on solving the issue than a ticket containing only f words.
This discussion is moot, the job of the correspondant is to make up a list of problems the CM are having...and from what i have seen flithy is doing exactly that...the other job is to report back to the players what the devs said and since the devs have said nothing no worries...
a correspondant doesnt need to actively partake in dicussions to do his job. As long as he is getting the issues down and to the devs he's going his job. So far from what i have seen flithy is right on.
In fact i think it may be best if the correspondant takes a neutral view in order to objectively rank the issues. I know when i worth my list of top 5 it was really hard to put my personal feeling aside on many issues. As those of you that read the boards often know iamd very passionate on certain issues that I would like to see dealt with.
So lets just put this issue to an end. flithy is doing the job and thats that...
