combat medics balance a lot of things out in PvP more than they affect it IMHO. why do i say that? because with 40stun/90base armor, 2.7k doc buffs etc, any random pvp encounter would take 43987 years to finish otherwise. while that would be fun, it would get very monotonous and it would make pvp very slow and boring...poisons (especially cm ones...not 100 tick janta knives) add urgency to pvp. you have to act decisively which makes pvp more fun, and makes it a more group oriented thing too.
as far as spider venom goes, i dont really have a problem with it either way...there or not. if it dissapeared i wouldnt lose any sleep over it, but i certainly wouldnt think the game was instantly saved henceforth because of it either.
oh and as far as cm dabbling goes, the idea of swg is that you make a template which is effective both offensively and defensively. i was a MCM for about 9 months before dropping down to 4004 to pick up some doctor as well. i think that dabbling in profs is the nature of the game, so i dont see why CM should be any different. not to mention that you have to get 2 whole trees to really be an effective CM dabbler as opposed to one in pistoleer for defenses, or one in tka for meditate.

This comes from someone who doesn't craft...
The reason CM is not a dabbler friendly proffession is because the real benefits of being a CM come from 3 of the trees and hitting master. Honestly, CM is meant to help out a group more than help himself.
ive always crafted my own cm packs. ask anyone from shadowfire about it and youll probably hear my name. the only problem with dabbling though, like you said is that i have to get on a friends mcm/doc to craft my crap now.
and i can also still help the group a great deal. i dropped mind heal, but i can cure poison and fire now which helps out more on shadowfire as its a real small server. but i can also pick it right back up if i want to in about 15 minutes grinding as long as im doing it daily.
