Yes, you used to have to be master marksman to be a CM. Then they changed it to just having the pistol line in marksman... but many people complained about wanting to use carbine or rifle, so they made it the support line.

I think I am one of the few people who got CM so they could heal... Still havent used a poison or disease. I havealittle bit ofdoctor, and will get a little more... but doubt I will go to master.

I found getting novice doc to be a good way to use up the scraps of leftover skill points after mastering CM. My char is comlete and looks like this:

  • Artisan: 0 - 0 - 0 - 3

  • Marksman: 4 - 0 - 0 - 3

  • Master Medic

  • Master Combat Medic

  • Rifleman: 4 - 0 - 0 - 3

  • Doctor: 0 - 0 - 0 - 1

Having the extra expirement points, and being able to use wounds C's make dabbling in doc worthwhile. I found out exactly how useless I am at my rifle abilities (PvP wise at least), loosing 2 matches in a PvP tournament against master riflemen. A master rifleman took me out in one shot.

Master Doctor/Combat Medic with a Zabrak heritage that has maximum substats, minimum health and action, maximum mind is the template for one of the most powerful PvP profession.

I don't care who is may be, with the long range, wide area affecting mind poison, unless you're another Master Doc/Combat Medic, I can drop you in less than 3 ticks. I have poison with 72 meter range that ticks for over 560 damage, even if you're a doctor, you'll need to cure at least twice, and that's assuming I haven't applied another dose.

One on one, this template is nearly unbeatable. You can fully buff all your 6 stats freely, cure blind, dizzy, stun, bleed, poisons and diseases. You'll be able to wear full advanced layered composite armor and a PSG3 withoutthe side affect of low substats. When I go up against eyeshot spamming Bounty Hunter, the maximum amount of damage I take per shot is between 34-55, that's when they're in the range and have Line of Sight, which are rare in both instances.

Even with the changes to the poison DoT, an investment into a intermediate rifle on marksman tree would resolve that problem easily. In addition to that, by boasting our potency with the new Advanced Resilience Component, along with the new Decay Resistance stat which will make both the Advanced Dispersal Mechanism and Advanced Infection Amplifier even more powerful. You could potentially make 700-800+ ticksingle or 500-600+ tick area pioson with range far surpass any weapon currently capable of.

Regardless of any other templates that there are, the only truely self-efficient, combat effective one is the Master Doctor/Master CM, because as more and more Combat Medics are popping up on the server, without the ability to counter poison and disease will ultimately land you in the cantina and medic center for an extended stay.

These arethe true thoughts from me, and if you don't believe me, feel free to come on to Bloodfin and I'll enligten you on the errors of your way.

Not everyone.

I was going to go MD/MCM, but I find that I have more fun with the CM side, and I want to keep some combat ability as well as artisan.

I'm going for
Novice Entertainer/Artisan (switch around as needed) 0/0/0/0
Master Combat Medic
Pistoleer 0/0/2/1
Doctor 0/4/3/0 (Revive & buffs)

I'm hoping that will give me decent solo as well as group utility.

Depends on your playstyle and friends, honestly. I'm 4/4/40 doc, master CM because I wanted to be CM but needed the cures, revives, and buffs that the doc lines provide. I'm in a relatively small PA and our PA's doctor plays odd hours, so I'm the main healing machine, and we normally do PvE, not PvP. He makesall subcomponents, buffs, single target "stationary" heals, and we share resources.

If you're in a PA that regularly has a doc online and grouped with you, there isn't a need except for convenience to go doc with your CM.

I have really enjoyed being a Master Doc/Master Cm. i play two machines at once and with my second character using fan shot and comanding a Mauler we are unstoppable. If I was a solo character I think I would still enjoy the utility of being albe to do all things HAM related.

I will admit that since i got master Cm i have used a Small Stim pack. I may investigate losing that portion of the doc tree, and taking some pistoleer.
