It would be fair to drop my prof? Riiiight. I didn't make the profession the way it is. It happened like this. I was there when Area Disease adn Area Poisons weren't even CRAFTABLE. I was there when it wasn't the PVP killer it is now. I AM a fair player when I say that we need to be adjusted to make things HARDER for us. I understand the cries you have. I became a CM way back when for the area heals. Mind heal came later and now poisons/diseases are powerful as well. I didn't do it. But I'm not changing. I will still be a CM LONG after the nerf I'm sure.

The thing that always gets me is that people cry about this stuff about PvP but you don't realize that BOTH Rebels AND Imps can be CMs. Because of this... it is fair! Now, if it was like AT-STs where only Imps get those but only Rebels get CMs or something... then YES... you'd have room to cry. The number one rule in PvP... is bring Docs and CMs of your own. More than 1 of each.

Throwing beyond 64m is a known bug and many in the MCM community would like this fixed.

The only thing wrong with CM is the ability to throw like Michael Vick. There's no need to gut the profession as has happened to others.

I a big proponent of allowing Armorsmiths to install gas filters into helms that completely incase the head, even ST helms(I'm also a proponent of player-crafted ST armor to help improve the GCW). Armor can be crafted with resist to any type of damage, even the uncommon Restraint damage ie. Nightsister Force Choke, so why not resists against poison/disease? Only makes sense. In RL when soldiers go into a potential bio/chem battlefield they have gasmasks not to mention that Composite Armor already has hoses hanging from the helm.

"No way someone should be able to throw longer than a gun can shoot![/b] At VERY MAX, the range of poisons should be 40m and average about 25-30m."

Most rifles can knock the **edit** off an gnat at 1000 yards actually... and pistols can go for pretty far also.

Yep you guys are so good that you killed PvP. Went up in a big cloud of poison.

Good to see you realise that every single person in the world that plays CM wins because they have more raw skill than you.

Throwing beyond 64m is not a known bug, its a known issue. The devs specifically limited the throw range for CM poisons/diseases to 47m experimented (odd number, that). If it was intentional (which it was) its not a bug.

Check the patch history, if it still goes back that far. This happened months and months ago.

Anyway, I would agree to limiting the maximum range to 64m IF the 4 second animation is removed. As it is, I can throw poisons from 90m.

However, about half the time that I do this in SOLO PvP, I get owned. In the 4 seconds it takes me to move or act again, someone has /target ed me, /follow ed me, /burstrun and covered the 26m it takes to get within shooting range, then /mindshot3 /mindshot3 /snipershot (ranged DB from 64m away). All of this, including the /DB, happens before my poison has dropped a SINGLE TICK on the opponent.

The extended range for CMs is not a bug, but it is an issue. As the system is now, it is only unfair against noobs and whiners. Again, take away the issue with me standing still for 4 seconds and i'm totally cool with losing the additional range.

However - we must consider that there are hundreds and hundreds of CMs out there (per server) at this very moment who have already made crate after crate of long range poison. Unless the Devs retroactively nerf every single poison and disease stim out there, or make the nerf directly to the CMs effectiveness rating, we are going to have extended range PvP bombs around for LONG after the nerf.

This will, however, open up a shiny new market for Pre-Nerf meds. Maybe we can finally make some cash?

Judas, lets give commandos a 90 m range on there grenades and give you zero defense to it. Oh lets have it do ar 3 dm to the mind. So once every 6 secs you get hit for 350-500 dm. Sound familiar?? If commandos are restricted to a 16 m range so should you. Then you guys wont have any nerf calls because you will have to fight up close and die like commandos do in pvp. Lol. Id rather give commandos the 90m ranged mind armour piercing dm . Im not big into nerfing a class and I like alternatives. But its up to you guys to come up with some good alternatives to nerfs. The original poster had some good ideas and I think you guys should listen to him.

I agree that he had some good ideas. There have been many other CMs who have posted MANY great ideas in regards to balancing this game. The thing is, not everything is the CMs fault. As it is, I agree that there are aspects of CM that need fixed. I just get tired of hearing from everybody and his brother how CM ruined the game. If people would simply learn to work as a team, and had a well rounded group, there would be no problem.

However, in ANY battle someone loses. Most of the anti-CMs seem to be the ones who regularly lose. Maybe if they considered their actions, and how they could improve their tactics, they would get somewhere. Simply coming to the CM forums and whining isnt going to help anyone, unless you know of some CM who WANTS to pull his hair out.

I, and many other CMs, have offered Tips, Tricks, and general Advice for defeating and surviving a CM. It's not my fault that you (not you specifically) didnt read it.

And while i'm here, what the hell is "ar 3 dm"?

1) Damage of pioson/disease I really don't feel is unfair. It takes a LOT of searching for the right resources to get the advance parts. Those that take the time to find them ... should be rewarded with 700+ damage ticks. Those that are able to loot venom should also be able to do extra damage. I treat this issue like Weaponsmiths do. If I took the time and moneyto find the great resources and craft everything to the best I can... I deserve to do more damage.

Yeah, the problem with that whole deal is, those ticks NEVER miss once they are stuck and FAR outdamage any regen that someone can buff to their mind.

(edit)the fact that you guys are excellent healers is what makes it a little bit ridiculous because you can do real raw unmitigated damage in pvp (while being free from any recourse) and also be a healer. I feel like its a bit of wanting to have your cake and eat it too to read a lot of posts in this forum.(edit)

I see your argument about how hard it is to get resources for that stuff, but I disagree. You have to remember, I killed a lot of krayts, geo mercenaries, nightsisters etc... to get my nicegun thatI cannot shoot you with while youreout of range letting the poison take it's toll, and spent aLOT of money on my composite armor that those ticks disregard.

The reason hardly anyone wants to pvp anymore on my server is exactly that reason.

Message Edited by Doobeous on 04-14-2004 12:03 PM

You are wrong. Even if we stick you, you can still RESIST the ticks. The problem is only the CM can see that you resisted it. You never recieve the sys msg telling that you resisted it.

"The fact" that CM's get no defensive skills what so ever keeps play fair. You may have a slice of my cake.

We spend LOTS of time searching for good resources. What we cannot find, we pay out the @$$ for. Thats if anyone has any to sell.

Sure, I'm glad you got to kill lots and lots of critters to get all of that nice loot to use and sell. It's a shame we CM's have NO WAY to make any money.

You notice the only persons not crying and still PvP'ing are the ones with Doc skills with their Fighter skills and/or the ones that run with a Doc. It's your fault not ours that you choose to ignore the few forms of protection that are redilliy available for you to defend aganst the CM.
