go right ahead, good luck getting the resources you need, hope you have a deep wallet. I spent hundreds of thousands of credits on getting my resources, meanwhile any other combat proffession pays 15k for a gun and off they go.....enjoy yourself though, I don't care if a person who picks up combat medic and is master for 3 seconds comes here and says they're overpowered.

Kindred I am a +12 MCM on intrepid, if you have any questions send me a tell or e-mail. also you can get area/ranged stims, poisons and diseases at Stimcity on Naboo, or MCP on Tatooine. Stimcity has the best but you will pay a bit more for them, I am kind of the bargan vendor if you just need something to grind with, I am sold out atm, but Igot stuff on the factory now

I dabbled with going CM a while back, and then realised it'd be sucking too many points so ditched it (and the holo fever kicked in). Oh and I bought from Stim City back then

So I ended up doing every melee profession instead, a few artisan for holo, and finally got my silent on entertainer. From here I already had Fencer, so went Rifleman. I'll say now - Fencer/Rifleman is INSANE for defense stacking, people /tell me day in day out "WHY CAN'T I HIT YOU!", and in a way I feel guilty i'm pushing the system like this. They let us dabble, but I don't think they ever realised what would happen by comparing figures of attack vs defense. So we end up with defense stackers that normal people have a LOT of trouble hitting.

Now I would have left it here and just kept on being apain in PvP, but I thought i'd try CM since I hated them so much (hehe, worst thing in the world to a rifleman mind poison, really ticks me off (no pun intended)).

So although i'm dropping all my defense stacking, I will be picking up a weapon that isn't affected by melee/ranged defense. Also since I can master one Marksman profession, I'm already half way there to my CM/Rifleman template.

In a way I'll still be able to help my fellow Rebels "When Stackers Attack!", so I'll still be able to help in PvP even if I'll probably be the first target now But like my original post, I would rather piss the enemy off than keep having a TEF war or seeing defense stackers pick off the "lower" classes.

Anyway I'm almost done with Master Medic and have the Marksman trees needed. Quite looking forward to the profession now, and I've been gathering resources ready for when i want to craft my own (but with a +12 on my server, might just buy for "special occasions" ). One thing that seems nuts is Tolium has spawned about 2 or 3 times on Intrepid I think, something silly like that. Thats just evil, are the devs aware its that rare??

Lets see how things go anyway, and thanks for everyone offering to help

So Xytroncoreyou agree with my theory huh? Except for the range issue ...

I can only add that according to my (possibly inaccurate / uninformed) calculations, CM wepons are the most expensive -in time andcredits per shot weapons in the game. To some extent it stands to reason that they are so powerful. There is a defence against them in the form of Doctors, and the Devs have said that they are Biological Gas or Particle weapons and as such, can enter buildings (not that I 100% agree with that purely on balance reasons). Most CM agree that range is an issue.

I would also add that CM requires many skill points, and has no defence bonuses within the profession. A few shots anda stand alone CMdrops pretty easily.

it just occured to me that somewhere in another thread, i read someone's complaint that 'CM weapons ALWAYS hit'

the stupidity of whining about an area of effect weapon, like a grenade or a gas-bomb, always hitting actually hurts my brain.

i think i just lost an I.Q. point or two thinking about it, and i don't have all that many to give up in the first place

I have said before if they just capped our experimental range at 32m everything would be fine...only masters would ever hit the 64m mark (not like no masters fight anyways).

Commando grenades dont always hit. In fact they RARELY hit.Even while in Ideal range (which is inside blast radius) we only have about a 60% chance of hitting.

Yes the devs are aware how rare it is. Try Class1 radioactive it is pretty hard too. I have not seen that spawn on Ahazi for weeks if not months.

That is part of the reason that the devs have said that poisons and diseases are not overpowered. If you want the best then you have to be lucky enough to get the best resources. It is not easy. Also you have to spend a lot of time finding a very rich source for it when it does spawn. If you get a good quality resource and a richness of 60% then you are one of the luckiest CM on the server.

As a community we have been saying a long time that the resources are hard to get. Everyone still wants to cry nerf.

Combat Medics and Riflemen are endgame........1 second headshots and poison disease that never miss are extremely unfair.......I have basically quit pvp'ing because of these two classes.........most of the dam server are these two classes because they are the only ones that are effective.......what a fun game.

Thank god I have armor crafting to do now to occupy my time until lineage 2 launches......

Yeah and they nerf commando.....gg SOE

.... join them.

Well i'm sick to death of being poison+disease incap'd (which seems to cause a system death rather than a PvP death, thus having decay - total grief). Not to mention countless other bugs.

And it seems the devs are quite happy letting people do this, so I'll be joining the fellow CM's on here to see what its like from your point of view instead of whining from a receiving end.

Money down now on what I'll find out when I'm master:

a) the profession is overpowered, and fellow CMs don't want to be nerfed
b) the profession isn't overpowered, and everyone does just whine about us all the time

I'll still thinking a), since I was fighting with two CM's last night (one on our side, one on the enemy) and both admitted they were overpowered and thought the profession was boring because it was that simple to put people out of the game.

Looking forward to my findings

your still going to get poisoned and diseased.. I think you might want to pick up doc instead

ya but poison doesn't one shot, but it will kill you, stacked with a disease, and the radius is huge, so once you have this on you, your dead, very little anyone can do, unless your a doctor.

you still can kill off 50 people before you die, and that gives alot of CMs great convidence...sure you die, but you kill off everyone else anyways.

minus the docs ofcourse, but yet might as well just have everyone be CMs and docs, and call it medical wars.

For those following this thread, I am now Master Combat Medic (*cackles*).

Didn't get that much chance to try much PvP since I got it late last night, but what I did manage I liked. Bought some Mind Poison B with Range 38 (i.e. 76m at Master), and let that puppy fly - 300 a tick, and this wasn't even a C.

I also crafted a C myself and tested it on my poor friend - 480 a tick!

So I found a poor Imp, and /exam (he's a melee fighter, swordsman). So I get at my max distance, and let the C fly... poor guy didn't know what to do, by the time he made the distance to me (I even stood still for him) he'd ticked and was down to about 300 mind. 2 headshots from my trusty Jawa and he fell at my feet.

Honestly, I couldn't help but giggle like a girl. Granted the circumstances were in my favour (melee fighter, normal mind HAM to start with, obviously pretty dim), but its just really cool to see someone "tick" at that much damage before you even start to fight.

So first experiences lead me to believe CM gives you an edge, or "head start" in ranged solo fighting. Of course if he was a lot closer to start with I might have been in trouble, but thats just tactics and choosing the right fights or battleground that has your advantage (hills for example - watch those non terrain walk up, ticking away )

So far so good, but I haven't had to craft too much yet and since there is no current spawn of class1 or tolium i'm stuck using rancor bile in anything I make in the future (still, 40m or so range ain't THAT bad). Look forward to crafting my own poisons when I can

As for the overpowered saga.. still undecided. I haven't put my skills to the limit, but I'm hoping for a raid tonight where I can use some AoE's and truely see what I'm capable of (and how many times I die )).

Right now I'm just on a high from the fun factor and the fact its a new profession, and since the game is all about having fun I'm loving every minute of it. Too bad the guy on the other end probably isn't.

Out of interest, are most CM's killed by ranged fighters? (makes sense if we kite melee)

I hope you get banned, I was told by a CSR the other day that what you're doing is an exploit. Sooooo....enjoy yourself and hope someone like me doesn't bother to report you.

And since you're a master riflemen too I wouldn't think you'll be dying all that much.... but whatever, you'll find out that you do more damage from a 30+% damage sliced rifle with a 33% max damage powerup then any poison you can make and just leave when you've found out that combat medic is just a waste of skill points.
