Area effect (when splash damage is fixed) and a chance to set mobs in the radius on fire.
Glop nades are an area blind, cryoban are an area snare and combat speed reduction(albeit short).
Imp dets are a 20 meter radius KD.
They don't always stick the states but when you get a nice one off it is good stuff. Area damage is borked atm, only your actual target will take the hit although the status effects will get a chance to stick.

I'm MCM, MP, & 4XXXdoc. It's a nice template
Firearm strike is nice, especially as an MP with its more advanced form. I use it to get myself some distance some quick distance (With elect drain). Its a nice tool, that I think many people under use.
I use stopping shot solely for group crowd control. I don't like to use it to give myself distance since it has a couple second kicking in time that lets them follow me anyway. I like to save it since it has a big timer. I'm hardly ever in enough trouble that I have to use it since I have such good heals.
Paralyze is good too. I really don't use it as much as Stopping shot or Firearm strike. I find myself using it mostly when I have a hot head who aggros everything. And so I'll paralyze one target, and then state/dot another one, and then come back to the paralyzed one and light them up with states and dots as well.
I enjoy the crowd control aspect of my template. Gives me a lot of abilities to offer a group. Only problem is that I generate alot of hate. You need some group members to keep an eye on you from time to time so you don't get overwhelmed.
I dream of an area CM attack......hopefully that is coming. It is really logical......what army ever developed a chemical/bio attack that could be used only on one soldier at a time?
