lol its so much easier not being correspondant...dont have to mash my words...

besides even if u are opinioned, as long as u can report the top issues without bias and in a clear manner, you could be a fine correspondent...

i'd like an update every week that says what hes been doing... what issues if any hes posted to the devs. have they responded. what his thoughts on the profession is. we're discussing things daily here that he has had zero input on. heck, his last logon was on sunday without a post. you cant be a correspondent if you arent vocal.

Which part of 'he wasn't supposed to send in a new report until they get responses back from the first report and get those out of the way.' did you not understand. They haven't posted there response to our class (might be coming soon as ranger recieved feedback today) so he is not supposed to submit anything...

Filthy is not a master combat medic.

He cannot test anything we suggest first hand.

All the information he is giving to the devs or what was in his weekly report was all second hand information.

I am not trying to bash him or what he has done. Howeverthismust be pointed out. The whole idea behind the corrispondants is not just someone who reads the boards gathers our opinions and then cut/pastes them into a report. They are supposed to do all that and then test what we have been saying first hand to corroborate(sp) them and make a judgement call with our help on what to do.

In DAoC we had an incredible Team Leader for scouts. The amount of work he did for free was truly amazing. Mythic rarely listened to him, but he knew the class probably better than anyone and could readily tell if something was amiss or if someone was just trying to BS him. He ran a scout website, he ran hours upon hours of testing using logs and was very active on the scout boards. Thats what we need here as a Corrispondant.

The GCW needs serious attention. If you agree with that also please post a reply on this thread

ok, but it does matter what he's thinking. perhaps the english language and text has failed me again and I will try to rephrase...

Filthy is our correspondant. What goes through his head eventually goes to the Devs. Even the most objective person in the whole world will bring some of his/her oppinion into the uncoscious making of decisions. By that logic, his oppinion does matter, because part of it (even a small bit) will get its way across to the Devs.

Secondly, what i'm asking for (which people seem to be forgetting) is that he keeps us informed of developments. Even if there are no developments. Why cant he post here every week and say "The Devs havent responded to anything i've sent them." And why cant he post here and say "these are the issues I've brought up with the Devs" or even better "Here is the text of what I submitted to them". and to take that one step further, he should be telling us each week "Here is a list of what I plan on proposing to the Devs, please tell me your thoughts." The last time he personally initiated discussion here was over a week ago when the patch came out... Getting our data and oppinions to sort through is his job, and I dont see him doing it. its like we have a phantom for a correspondent.

Right now, I have no idea what Filthy is planning about LOS or mind dots. Two HUGE issues we've been arguing about here. What he plans to bring up with the devs on these issues needs to be addressed. Lets hear it or find someone else to do it.

Lets not confuse the SWG Correspondent program with the DAoC Team Leader program. Correspondents are not (currently) advocates for our professions, it isn't their job to do our thinking for us, or to lobby SOE on our behalf.

They distill dozens, perhaps hundreds of threads and posts, summarize the Top Issues as best they can, ideally in an unbiased way, and communicate them to SOE. That's all they currently do.

Yeah but to actually do that, he would need to come to these boards or play the game. Last time he visited these boards....4 days ago, usually hes longer. Seen a nice string of 8 days before.

Well all this could be pretty moot soon. I believe Filthy's month as correspondent is almost up and then we'll get a new one who hopefully will be a touch more visible.

shouldnt I be let in on the knowledge of what hes distilling? what hes going to say to the devs? thats my entire point how can I make myself more clear? we are not being kept informed by filthy, and I feel that we (as those who play the profession) deserve more. as mentioned everywhere in this post, a man who has not even logged on to the forums for over 4 days or sometimes as long as 8 days cannot be expected to "distill dozens, perhaps hundreds of threads and posts" at all dont you think?

What does it matter if he is or isn't supposed to send in another report to the Devs unless he's heard a reply on the first one if he isn't even logging on to keep up to date on the issues while he's waiting?

I don't think it's unrealistic to expect that the correspondent would be at last somewhat keeping on the boards, and you know, posting occasionally.

And if we get a replacement correspondent, please don't let it be Elenora. She doesn't seem to agree with the large majority of the class, is an exploiter of the previous TEF issue, and I couldn't abide my representative using the "word" "u" all the damned time.

As the Doc Correspondent, let me chime in here real quick. It sounds like some of you may not be aware of what the correspondents is supposed to do, and mroe importantly what the things are they cannot do.

Correspondents are suppose to be nothing more than data collectors and collators. We have no hotline to the Devs or anything, jsut an email address to send our Top 5 proession issues to.

Our original directive was to compile a Top 5 on a weekly basis. It is supposed to be a completely non-biased list detailing what you guys on the forums are talking about the most. However, the Devs turned around and TOLD us not to send any more lists until they had responded to the first set of Top 5 issues. That was almost 3 weeks ago now, and if you haven't noticed, they have not responded to any of the Medical (other than BE) professions in any of that time. As such we are not suppsoed to send them any more issues.

The Devs do NOT talk to us. All we do is send them information. That's it.

I happen to be a somewhat vocal guy, so you'll see lots of my posts around, especially on the Doc forum. That's just me, though. In fact our inital accpetance letter as correspondent asked us to NOT be leaders in our community and to be humle, and so on. Of course some folks just end up being leader in the community, through no initiative of their own and I've seen that some of the other correspondents are respected as leaders in their communities. I certainly have no problems with that, personally, but it is not only NOT a requirement for the position but apprently the Devs consider that it may even be a hindrance to the position.

So, all Filthy is really required to do here is to figure out what you guys are talkinga bout as hot topics AFTER the Devs have provided us with thier reponse to the first list. That's it. I can jjust about gaurantee you that even if Filthy was trying to send questions to the Devs on a a daily basis that he would just be ignored anyway. They don't WANT us to be buging them with stuff, they can just come read the forums for that. They just want us to compile inromation. I could never, ever post on these forums and still be able to do that.

Diffferent correspondents have different methods of compling information. I've chosen to do so by creating a Big List of issues and having folks vote on what they think are the Top 5 issues in a preference vote. That's just my style. Other correspondents work of of number of posts on a topic and/or the rating system for posts. That works just as well.

So far I don't see that you have anything to complain about with Filthy. You're anger is misrepresented. If there is anyone to be angry with for time delays, you need to be angry with the Devs for raising your expectations with the original idea of weekly responses and with the general delays we are seeing in getting those responses at all. (And I know the Devs are getting hammered on that one, just go use Dev tracker and check out some of Q3P0 and Holo's posts and constant apologies on the subject.)

So now you need to tell me what about that original mandate is Filthy not complying with?

I think your expectations of what you want a correspondent (a terrible name since it implies two-way communication, when in fact it is a one way communication postion, us to them) to be are simply not in line with what a correspondent really is.

Oh and in regards to the Devs asking US our opinions on some issue or another. That does not happen. (Well maybe ofr one of the correspondents). All we are supposed to do is sum up the Top 5 issues, list suggested solutions from the boards and provide links to the relavent threads if needed. That's it.\

It's a one way street.

To repeat, the Devs do NOT talk to us, there is no open dialog between correspondents and Devs. Nowhere have they statedthere would be (although the name implies differently.) In fact I personally prefer taht the Devs provide all of their responses directly to the forums, like they have been doing. In that way we do what they ask us by passing on info, and they respond right here for all of you to see.
