For me, this is a pointless argument. I'm mostly a PvE healer, so people ask for res, then immediately for a buff.
Anyway, as for keeping docs off the battlefields and in the hospital, I know how that is. As an entertainer, I've been told while I was playing out in the open for my enjoyment) to go back to the cantina where I belong. If doctors are restrained to the hospital as entertainer (besides ID's) are to the cantina, we'll see a whole new AFK revolution around the doctor profession, as well as many doctors leaving the profession due to boredom from the static scenery.
The only thing I wish was added to the Combat Medic profession from Doctor would be to fully experiment the subcomponents to their ranged and area stims. I don't want to have to pick up all three medical crafting lines (medic, CM, and Doc) just to make good area stims.

The subject has been toyed with time and time again. There was a consensus that wanted at least some form of stabilization that would extend or freeze the rez fail timer but thats it.
Then again, rezzing has limited uses since any and all buffs are still stripped. Jedi are the most reliant on it so far unless distance becomes a issue for whatever reason (pvp or pve).

That's simply not true. There are US Army and Marine Doctors who treat injured soldiers where they fall. Not all military doctors are behind the lines in hospitals or on ships.

Sure Docs come back to the fight, by the time they do few people gets killed and get sent back to the cloner and then you chase each other arround like a chicken with it's head chopped off.
I'm worth well over a Billion credits on my server. I also invested well over 50+ million credits in PVP gears. All the money in the games will not make a person good at PVP. It take skill and persistence. I PVP once a month at most, so my lack of PVP skills is not from lack of money but lack of interest and dedication.
I think you misunderstood what I meant here. I said I was all for Docs being on the battle field but, would also like for Docs to have the ability to have a central location where they can do their job without worrying about being shot at. Have you ever seen M.A.S.H.? How often do those Doctors pick up a gun on the show?
Again you did misread the sentence, What I mean here is it seems to me everytime a group gathters for a PVP session there seems to be 1 doc for each player (but I might be over estimating, maybe 1 doc for 2-3 player). So what you are saying here is if I buy some good poison and am a Master CM I will be Uber no matter what I go up against. WOW!
Ventrillo & Teamspeak can handle about 8 players max. Very hard to deal with when you have a group of 20. I have a 60 dollar headset for Ventrillo and it works great!. Dunno where I unleashed my frustration at with my inablity to PVP at arround here. I was here pointing out that some one had a good idea and add a suggestion that I thought was a good idea at the time. Didn't think anyone would fire up a Flamethrower my way. /duck.
The few times I have PVP'ed it seems we were up and down Dantooine, then Naboo, then Corellia hmm dunno how far from shuttle I'm most of the time. I thought you have to wait 60 second after Doc rez you before you can enter a fight? And once rezzed you're unbuffed and full stomach. So, if you decide to enter the fight immediately guess what you're dead again. Wow what a time saver. Try to call a target with a chat room of 20 sure they listen to you....ya
I know the dev's don't care what I say, but I know you do because you wouldn't have pay this much attention to details of what I say and come up with all the nice color fonts.
Amerika, you should really chill out. This is just a forums for exchange of ideas. You're so quick to judge on the ramblings of an old fool who just enjoy discussions with people. I never intend to offend any one. I was making a suggestion. Life is too short. You shouldn't hang on every word I say. Go take your girlfriend, wife, or significant other out to dinner and a movie step away from poisoning your enemy for a day or two. You'll feel better..... For me I'l take my wife out to dinner tonight and go see that Hitch movie I know I'll feel better.
Mmmmmm....Donuts, I mean Mmmmm.....color fonts, delicious!

I still think you miss the point about doc's and their role is SWG. We are definitely not comparable to normal earth doc's, even the ones that we see in shows like MASH, which was written by a bunch of self-admitted pacificist. You still haven't acknowledged that the ability of a doc to remove dizzy, stun, intimidate, and blind has any value on the battlefield (something that squad leaders also get), or to cure poison, disease, and fire must be done nearly immediately in situ to ensure that those have only minimal effect on your party.
There are some points from MASH that are pertinent.
1. The MASH hospitals they were in was only partly safe due to proximity and they had to be ready to move at a moments notice.
2. It takes years to train a surgeon IRL making them much more valuable than they are in SWG. I believe that many of the doc's in the military can and would pick up a rifle or handgun in their own defense. Also, most of them take several people (nurses, corpsmen, etc) to support them (I suppose this is the intent of the med droids).
3. We never get to perform surgery, our med's effectiveness takes place immediately, and never has any annoying side effects such as anaphalactic shock or nasty drug interactions, so we don't really have to worry about bad side effects, and busted up soldiers don't have to convalesce for long, hence no need for a hospital with beds.
Not many of the doc's I know that PvP would like to be on the sidelines, in a ranger camp nearby, or elsewhere. (I know that therangers I know don't want to be restricted to camp in those instances either). I think this is why they gave us the title Field Surgeon as an option.
Many people that PvPand have taken up doc, did itin response to dot weapons, flamethrowers, and CMs. Heck, I don't see much large scale PvP on Shadowfire anymore, which I think is mainly due to a lack of balance in the GCWand people on the FS or jedigrind, with the latter being the larger issue.
Also, Amerika I think you need to remember that Canada has gone to war recently, as the USA's ally in Afghanistan. You guys have some pretty darned good snipers up there.

Your right, we do go to war... When it comes to help supporting out "big brother." Just come up north and take us over. Our snipers can sit up in the mountains, and within igloos and we will pwn u all.
Homer, I am not quick to judge, I am only pointing out the several way you are contradicting yourself. Personally, how you play this game is upto you, it just bugs me when I see someone pointing out something that contradicts what they just said.

If your refering to healing (headless chicken statement); thats only with an in-experienced crew. And every healer regardless of the range on their stims have witnessed. I constantly have to tell me guild run **TOO** the healers, not away.

Yup, money doesn't make the player. Skills makes the player. I mean even Napoleon Dynamite had some crazy bowstaff skills....but yeah he couldn't get a date to save his life.(Awesome Movie; haha)

TV is often a make-believe world, or a view-point of the creator. Yes M.A.S.H. was based off the military, but I would hardly call that a prime example. When I was in Iraq we have a ton of Coreman running around. And guess what, they all carried 9mm's or M16's.
Plus in SWG, I like to get shot at when I tring to do my job. Makes me go faster.

No, I don't think anyone is saying that at all. To be effective in any type of combat, you have to have support. In this case, a combat toon would support the fact a CM can dish out Pois/Dis for 5000000 uber points a tick. Being master at any profession doesn't make you uber against anything. Knowledge will always win over brute force.

I have a TS server, and we deal with it very simply. 1 leader, 2 guides (people to direct traffic of the group) and the other 17 shut up unless something important is needed. TS / PVP is the same as real world. Keep the comm clean so you can hear important facts about the situation. The problem with most people is they like to run their mouth about white rice and cheese in the middle of a 20v20 fight. Un-called for, un-needed.
PVP with TS is very easy to coordinate attacks, movement, and pretty much everything else. As long as people understand how it needs to work. I'm lucky, all my friends are military or prior, so we know better then to flood the comm.
The few times I have PVP'ed it seems we were up and down Dantooine, then Naboo, then Corellia hmm dunno how far from shuttle I'm most of the time. You have 60 down time after a res, before you can do anything.
And umm...attacking after you died....thats called Zerging. Bad, and no one likes it. General rule of thumb for any serious PVPers. If you die, you die. You either re-buff go overt again (no TEFing) then re-join, or you don't join at all. Zerging is a way to really pis$ people off.

Marines make warriors not doctors. They always came from the squi...err Navy ranks. Corpsmen usually dont have M.D attached to their name unless they picked it up afterwards. Military surgeons are too rare and expensive to have in combat (its hard to make them stay and earn chump change when they can get tons more in private practice :smileysad
. Temporary surgeries like M.A.S.H. units are close to the front lines and dangerous and the doctors and nurses (just as important) will fight if necessary but its a rarity.
However,...this isn't real life. This is SWG. So the roles of different professions are going to be different from the similar roles in real life. I dont see too many Fencers in military services now nor many overly fat wookies in dainty bathrobes and boots carrying overpriced flashlights. Well maybe if I go to enough "-Cons". /shudder

Why would we want to take over? We just want your girls and beer. So give us what we want and nobody gets hurt. Hello, hello...something something Vertigo.
Wait...hmm. Sleep deprevation is baaaad. j/k aMeRiKa

Don't worry about the "crap" part. Just remember thatanytime you call for drastic changes to be made to one class, you must expect opposition. I think it would be fine to change CM's abilities, even expand them. It wouldn't even be so bad if both classes could res patients IMHO, but doctors have, from the beginning and by design, had an important role in the field. It seems like you failed to acknowledge that from the start.
There is predence for that in other MMORPG's (healers and mages in UO for example).
