Combat Medic Archive
Thread: How many of you plan to drop Combat Medic if 1hp poison goes live?
Except for the fact that a CM is NOT the best healer in PvP. Neither is a Doctor.
No, the best healer in PvP is the person that put 15 points into Novice Medic so that they could heal themselves.
Anytime i've been involved in group PvP or PvE my stims work about like this:
"Oh, that guys hurting, couple hundred points gone on his health and action, I better throw a stim on him"
You have healed Joe Snuffy for 15 points of Health and 43 points of Action
"What? Oh, he healed himself right before my stim hit. *Sigh* another waste of a high level unnecessary stim."
You know where my ranged stims mostly get used? In the cantina healing up entertainers while I'm sitting. My Doctor stims? "Can you heal my pet?", "Sorry, I don't have any pet stims", "Please?!?"
*bah* best healer my ass

please read any of my other posts on these boards, and ill think you see where im coming from. a person shouldnt be able to be the best healer and attacker in pvp just because in order to get the best weapon for their class they have to spend more money than others (run on sentence but ya get the point). you also have to realise that you have crafting skills to SELL things, and MAKE MONEY (unlike every other "combat" profession). if youre really that strapped for cash then sell components/poison to lesser cms.
Money is not the issue, sorry if I implied that.
Eriki, that may be so to some degree, though I'm very certain my guildmates trust me ![]()
More often than not though, it's just more efficient for someone to heal themselves, particularly during combat. They know exactly when they are in need of a heal and can apply it that very instant.I may be trying to heal someone else when they desperately need it. Or the battle may have taken them out of range. Or if things are truly hectic there may be just enough lag that even if I see they need it, am in range and try to apply, by the time it gets off they are already incapped.
When you consider the amount of damage a Commando or BH can dish out in just one shot, if I'm not healing the moment they take the damage then it'll probably be too late. It's just far far better to be able to hit that hotkey yourself when you KNOW you need it, rather than hoping someone else is being able to keep up with not just yourself but everybody else.
Now, after the battle sure my heals are useful. But in that case I may have just as well been a Doctor. And the Doctor half of me can also cure their wounds fast, buff them up, rez downed players and get us ready for the next fight. Far more useful than my measly ranged stims.
Summary: If you want a HEALER then a group is far better off with a Doctor. Heck, if you want to heal yourself, you're far better off being a Doctor. CM's are a second rate healer and fairly redundant in any group. We CAN heal, but it's not really needed since most players can heal themselves well enough.
This frustrated seasoned MCM has just adapted to the game. How u ask?
By retiring my MCM and starting a CH / BE on another server. Learn, adapt, or die.
Besides, TOA just came out. I'll be on my way. Thanks ![]()

What's TOA?
to Bender:
as more people realise just how good buffs are and actually utilize them in pvp, ranged and area stims will become more powerful. the fact that somebody doesnt drop after being in range for 5 seconds will actually give the cm time to throw a stim on them ![]()
as far as the novice med heals, you have to realise that healing goes into the combat queue; and if im only healing myself for 300 damage everytime, my time would be better off shooting somebody.
Yea after consideration I will be done if this change goes out.
No real reason to continue playing when my character effectively has his hands tied behind his back.
People using bleeds and commandos using flame throwers can change to a different weapon but CMs will be stuck in eternal hell, and I don't like hell much.
or i should just stopi drinking whatever, youre not that bad ofa guy but just look at it from our perpective, look at the people who dedicated almost everything to helping people with master doc/cm... how can we defend ourselfs...
blah too tired right now

No one should own in PVP just because they spent more points in their class. Skill not Skillpoints own all in PVP. BHs and Commandos are damage dealers not PVP masters. You can own the best weapons and do the most damage but if I get the drop on you I am going to win. If you can't learn how to get the drop on someone by kiting, combining special moves, distraction etc then maybe you should go play Sims.

Most CMs, unlike other professions do not dabble. They may buy their components or stims, but only until the day they can make their own. While we are on the subject of components, at this time a Master of the Doctor Crafting tree (Doctor 0004) can craft better advanced CM components than a Master CM.
Master CMs get fewer points than Doctors do for experimentation of Advanced healing components.ie 5 points vs 10 to craft an Advanced BEC that we would like to use in a Ranged Stim or AE Stim. So to have the best CM Heals available we would need to spend points in Doctor or buy advanced components from a Doctor.
Last thing I want to touch on, Commandos and BHs are damage dealers. A Commando spends 169 points to Master. 169 points will get him the best the Commando class has to offer.
A BH spends 217 points to Master. Those extra 33 points can be spent to Master an Elite Combat Tree for instance leaving them with 13 points which can further be invested in some skills. So for a base cost of 249pointsa BH can be a well rounded and accurate damage dealer with some added special moves.
A Combat Medic spends 169 points to Master. But in order to fully support a group and be the most well rounded healer possible they would need to pick up some Doctor as well. Mastering Doctor would leave them with 18 points. Still hasn't spent as much as a BH to be well rounded in their class (5 points shy) but that's still alot of points spent.
You can own the best weapons and do the most damage but if I get the drop on you I am going to win. If you can't learn how to get the drop on someone by kiting, combining special moves, distraction etc then maybe you should go play Sims.
for the 100th time,
YOURE GETTING THE "DROP" ON PEOPLE FROM 80M, COMMANDOS DO IT AT 16M, AND IT DOESNT EVEN EFFECT THE MIND POOL. now of course i didnt even mention the fact that its aoe and its impossible to cure (mind dmg) unless a doc is standing right next to you -- oh wait, i just did.
now, saying that - you are not a combat class in the sense of commandos or bhs, why you would compare yourself to that i have no idea. you are a combat support class (look at marksmen tree - ranged support) who can heal (medic is your prerequisite, and last time i checked medics dont do damage). if you want to do damage pick brawler or marksmen, if you want to heal people pick medic, if you want to heal people in hospitals pick doctor, if you want to heal people in combat pick cm.
(and read my other posts before you post something directly at me, chances are ive already stated all this)
