Thread: MY LAST METHOD OF BALANCE FOR CM AND IM GOING TO GIVE UP..

Anyone here ever play UO?

I sure hope so as you will understand, what happened when you got hit with a deadly poison or lethal poison (geno venom), and you didnt have a greater cure pot handy? Holy crap im going down! MEdiC! [Off topic a sec: you didnt see everyone screaming nerf in the UO world whenever a thief hit you with a DP dagger while your heal was low.... This has to be the Eq genre ] Yes that was the general idea. Now i dont like the fact that were all dependant on food so much, but here is a good one for the devs to make. Cure potions.. plain and simple, the more experimentation put in to cure the ugly poisons the more filling it takes. Disease should not be healable by a potion, thats ludicrous. But poisons should. Make these only require novice medic to use! (This could go under the doc or the chef skill tree but id rather have Doc, cause chefs imo have enough kool-aid) But this seriously would balance it without killing class.And if you cant kill a CM by the time hes hit you with 3-5 poisons which youve cured and now have no more room for more cure pots, well your suck anyways and should die a miserable death. This wont nerf the docs cause they can keep on curing all they want, and can now focus on rezzing / healing and heal state, to keep their squad moving than just playing medicine man healing posions, till he goes down with them.

Also as a bonus to us CM if we make something that is actually worthy doing 1k a tic, it should take multiple cure pots to lower the eff and eventually cure it. Please post feedback here, this could definately be the easiest thing to code, and would appease everyone. I know for a fact that if i could at least ensure that the enemies team wasnt so stuffed with brandy that they shouldnt be doing anything but hitting on twileks in the cantina, that i did my part as a CM. And anyone that thinks they should be able to walk around sh1t faced on brandy and still kick a$$ in pvp, well thats silly too, this would enforce moderation, and more strategy to your foods.

Oh man cm has gotten even more broken they can now through out of servers into my room, I can't see anythng right blotches of white text have turn different colors....no no that is just your annoying typing.

Hon, you might want to rewrite that, I made very little sense out of it, let along post constructively. Prehaps try restating your idea.... and leave out the twi'lek in cantina part, I have one of those

Hi(I'm new here plannin to join the ranks of CM), I think I made sense of his post and I'll try to re-explain.


  1. What he proposed is that Docs, or someone, should craft some kind of drink/potion w/e you wanna call it and that when under the effects of a poison or disease it would weaken it and eventually cure it.

  2. Another point in the post is that players wouldn't be able to run around drunk on brandy if they wanted the chance to heal their poison/disease.

  3. But this wouldn't get rid of hte docs ability to heal it, just enable them to focus on other things.

If they ever did implement this (which personaly I hope they don't) I would say that the max should be a200 effectiveness on the "potions." This is less than half that of a good cure pack. My reason is that docs should still be able to heal better than any potion that you take yourself. It cost me a fair amount of creds to make up some killer 500+ effectiveness cures and they cure up to about an 1100+ tick in one shot every time. But I don't want a novice medic to be doing the same thing. Maybe let them cure some but not as well as I can.

do i understand you correctly? you want an elite profession crafted poison which takes multiple rare specific resources to be countered by a novice medic?

I am all for innoculations or some sort of preventative medicine, but it should still be a doc only skill. The emphasis in game is on "group" play. Yeah you cannot always group with a doc for poison and disease cures, but EVERYONE hits up a doc of some sort before PvP for buffs. Justs adds another item to the menu.

One thing that does trouble me though is that in the latest "state of the game" letter on the main page "balancing DoTs" is mentioned in the combat balance. Not sure what this means for us.

Like the other guy said..make a master crafted poison curable at NOVICE level? Be sure and read my post about raising the medical level requirement of stimB's to pharmacology 4 instead of novice. Novice medic has almost the same benefits as a master medic. Wanna nerf something, try nerfing the incredible healing ability a NOVICE medic has with doctor crafted stimB's.


Unless we're in a group we're usually dead anyway. We get no defense or offensive skills (other than poisons) at master level. No ranged mitigation or melee defense at all. I got the burst run chef food hotkeyed.


Doctors job in pvp or pve is simple. Heal themselves, heal someone else, rez, and beat the crap out of something with their l337 TKM skills. Just about all of our poisons are cured by a cureA pack and the rest can be taken down with a cureC pack.


Innoculations already exist. Its called chef foods. They have food that up your resists to poison and disease and its a food not a drink so they dont have to take up brandy space.


About the only thing I can think of that I'd even remotely agree with nerf wise would to put a "to hit" modifier on our throws. Do that and I want some defense though.

I give up on you people, the ones complaining about it taking away from the doctors.The serverwouldnt be calling for nerf if you could already handle the job . So now that we all know its way out of your control to heal an entire 20 person group that gets aoe diseased, or poisoned, you would rather them not be able to cure themselves and all die because you think its taking away from your profession..... IGNORANT. scroll up and see that you would hopefully be the ones crafting these not the chefs. When was the last time a tka fencer ran up and paid you in the middle of a siege for curing him?! No it doent freaking happen, at least this way you could sell them to the populace and not have to worry about having to cure them, you already got the money. And if you guys want to be able to cure with a low filling pot, (RAISE MED USE mod) thus, docs or at least dabbler docs can do this better. Dont be so closed minded.

No one knows what balancing DoTs means to us. That is one of the things that we CMs have been screaming about for months with all the nerf cries. You cannot nerf any class at this point until you know what the combat restructure will do to the professions.

Area Cures m8ey crafted by Docs used by CMs or vice versa thats the way to go.
