Ok... think of it this way:
Commandos all were sports jocks in High School
All artisans were nerds
Now, combat medics are the guys smart enough to make their own weapons instead of buying them from they guys whose heads they swirled in the toilets on a daily basis.
"Hell, of course it's safe to use... do I have any reason to cause you grievious bodily harm?"

sorry but I'll have to disagree with you about the weapon designs... when I hear commando.. I think of a football player type build... big arms from carrying heavy weapons and yada yada... grenades are meant to be thrown and are not huge heavy things5 to32 ounces... some grenades even have a bottled neck to aid throwing for non baseball/football types... (sorry I'm an un-official military historian and EX Military) When I think of a Combat medic... I think of my ex-husband... scrawny 140 lb guy that spends alot of type in the lab.. andCombat medswould not beany smaller than grenades or even lighter... here's a nice test for you based off your theory.... take a baseball and a test tube... try tossing each across a football field and tell me which has better accuracy and distance... regardless of how athletic you are.
Good point.
SWG != Real.
Grenades are heavy. Fact.
They are exposives wrapped in a solid metal shell. A 5 ounce grenade would MAYBE be a stun or flash bang. No damage there. I have read numerous times about people trying to baseball throw a grenade and tearing their rotator cuff, due to the weight. This is why they invented Grenade Launchers... Which commandos should fully have.

Grenade: Big metal ball thingamajig that goes boom due to large amounts of explosives. Should only belobbed from a covered position to do area damage to the enemy. May also be thrown into a closed room/building to turn human beings into pretty red wall mosiacs.
Ranged stimpacks (aka happy blue balls of luv): Bacta (or noxious poison) filled water ballonsincluding some equipted with asmall explosive for the area effect.
