Thread: CM+Rifleman vs. Krayt, what disease/poison to use?

I've been a rifleman for quite some time now, (was lucky enough to end with it after my 31 profession holo grind) and i've been trying to hunt for pearls to support my jedi with no luck. Headshot3 is a beautiful attack, but not once have I had the chance to loot due to CM's throwing powerful diseases/poisons down.

So I decided if I can't be em, join em! I'm now 4/4/4/4 CM and master rifleman (will master after the downtime if I can find the app exp) but i'm new to the profession and there is no FAQ in this forum. What do I need to get started? I assume you can use one poison and one disease per enemy? When buying or making poisons or disease, what attributes should I look for?

Look for all of them. I won't use a poison under 270 effectiveness(540 ticks) 100 potency(always sticks), and 35 range(65+ meters). Make sure your duration is atleast a couple min for use in pvp, for diseases about 15-20 min are average for diseases. Main thing i look for is range. I don't like being 5 m from someone to throw a poison. On aoe stuff make sure it's atelast 25-30 aoe for poisons/diseases.

Well bro i have made some pretty nice poisens and disease in my short time of being MCM i find i really like the crafting thing and might start to sell my own.I finally got my +25 cm exparmintaion sea's so my meds are pretty good, what i did was i found good venom from the fire spider in the geo cave on Yavin4 it spawns every hour and loot is very rare myself i have about 100+ venoms camping it with my loot char unbeffed with pixie.2nd i cruxed the forums for good OQ reasources needed to make my poisens and disease.4th i found good (exceptional bile) from rancors in rancor valley on DATH,well thats it im ready top craft.

My out come was 1000+ tick mind poisen (single)

700 area tick poisen

700 tick disease

i have not made area disease yet

For a newb at crafting i didnt do half bad but my resourses are only enough for myself i would hope to get more reasouces so i could try making the stuff in mass in my factories/all in time i guess.

If you were on Chimaera, you could buy some of my PvE Kits for Combat Medics.

As a rifleman, you will want to use strafe shot on Krayts, for maximum damage, not headshot. Strafe shot hits health more often than not, so the PvE kits I make contain:

-Health single poison A
-Health single poison B
-Health single poison C
-Health area poison A
-Health area poison B
-Health area poison C
-Health single disease C
-Health area disease C

These are all stackable on a single target, for a total of 2500 damage per tick or so. You can stack all kinds of poison, but only one area and one single disease. So get the resources and start crafting. Or get someone to make them for you. Good luck!

It actually depends on the composition of your group and whether you have any further speed mods.

With 7.5 speed t21, at master rifleman with no further speed mods, your headshot dps is actually better than strafeshot. If your group is all riflemen, best to shoot for the head and use mind poison.

But also, consider this note on the mathematicsandtactics:

For everypoison you apply to the Krayt, you have to decide if the 5 seconds of not shooting is worth the damage it will do. This also depends on the size and composition of your group.

If we're talking about 5 master riflemen with no extra speed, assuming for a moment that they never die or get incapped, they could bring a 350K giant canyon Krayt down in about 140 seconds using headshots, faster if any of them have speed tapes or master marksman.

So if you apply a 650 tick mind poison at the start, it will tick 14 times for a total of 9100 points of damage during the course of the fight, vs. maybe 2500 you could have done during those 5 seconds. Obviously worth it. The next thing you apply, a 450 tick b single, will tick about 13 times for 5800, again, still worth it. Same goes for the 450 tick area C.

But every subsequent poison you apply will be weaker, and will tick fewer times, so eventually, you'll reach the point of diminishing returns. Area Bs are of marginal value under thisscenario, and A packs and diseases are not worth the lost trigger time. The larger and faster your group is, the less valuable these are. The slower and smaller, the more valuable they are.

On the other hand, if you arealone, competing with a group for looting rights, you'll never win. If it is a bunch of ungrouped individuals, I have heard that damage to any pool counts towards looting rights, so you'll want to poison all three pools with you're most powerful stuff and then start blasting away with your highest DPS rifle attack, regardless of the pool it hits, and still keeping in mind the considerations I mentioned above regarding the cost/benefit of throwing the lower powered poisons and diseases.

You on Ahazi, Base? Check out the CM vendor on Rori, city of Atar-(something), 5km NW of Rebel Outpost. They're stocked with some great CM meds right now...

You do have a point. For a non-speed capped rifleman, mind poison may be better.

I do think you underestimate the time poisons last though. My C poisons last for 5 minutes, for a total of 37 ticks (around 24000 damage), the A poisons last around 2 minutes (I think, may have to get back to you on that one) for roughly 3500 damage.

Also, when combined with disease, poisons do more damage over time, because of the battle fatigue it causes (I haven't tested this myself though). Let's just say the poison doesn't hurt the effort.
