Thread: Should Bounty Hunters get free Medic skills?
That was one proposal floated by the new Bounty Hunter correspondent. The idea was to get Novice Medic and First Aid 1 thrown into one of the first boxes of their skilltree(and FYI,it really seemed like many people wanted First Aid 2 so they could stop bleeding):

The forum was divided on the issue, and many people predicted that Medics would be up in arms if Bounty Hunters got these types of skills added to their skilltree at no cost.
So, Medics -what do you think of that idea?

Since the Medic forum is dead, and since you are all Medics -what do you think of that idea?
I think Medic skills should stay in the medic tree and right where they are.
I also think that Stim Bs should have thier med use increased.
stupid solution to the issue. If they absolutely MUST have a way to stop bleeding, let Docs manufacture "anti-bleed stims" with med use of 5, and hell, theres another way for me to make money. not like the BH ever pays you when you heal him in battle, but if we sell him a **edit** stim, then i can go buy that new harvestor I've been saving for . ..
Seems a completely different issue from frixing Medforage (i.e. the /medicalsurvey issue, as I don't like calling it he Survey issue). In our case we are talking about a basic skill required to even think about progressing in the profession, just as a Novice Medic, with a skill that would, if properly implimented, be non-competetive or at least have minimal impact on the Artisan surveyors. And I say that from the mindset of our getting resources for us to sell being the concern because surveyors are rarely getting resources that Docs use anyways. It's not like we are a decent market for surveyors. As in that we are talking about no extra schematics and only one, possibly 2, commands similar (not identical, IMHO) to those found in Artisan, but not the whole shebang. A proposal like this sounds like /tendamge, /tendwound, /headdamage, /healwound and/medicalforage all being added to the BH slate.
At any rate, taking Healing skills off into BH would really be pushing things, IMHO. FA2 should downright be out of the question. That's asking for all the cake and eating it too. Huge balance issue there.
That being said it's no secret that I personally favor making Stim As usuable by everyone (not giving them the /healdamage command, mind you). That could satisfy at least part of that issue and give even lower level medics an income source where Docs and higher level medics at least have a market for Stim Bs as a partial income source.
Admittedly the VH investigation line appears to hve some problems, but there really is a great deal of ability inherent in that class, especially when subsidized with the Pistoleer line. Allowing a 15 (or more) point freedom into that particular profession would no doubt be used to fill out further with Pistoller skills further degrading Pistoleers while greatly boosting BH ability not just from the healing ability, but from the massive ability to increase combat ability beyond just what can be gained from healing your won bars.
The boost and balance impact there would be phenominally huge. Folks think there are balance problems now? If something like that is implimented BHs would be flat unstoppable.
I guess if I can ask for free survey skill, they can ask for free medical skill.
I personally don't seeBH getting it regardless of how I feel about it, but I guess they can ask all they want.
Oh yeah, I guess I should add for the bleeding problem, BEs already have the ability to make coagulant components taht can be used in clothing and armor to act as a bleed defense. (Not sure if they are working right now, but they are there, at least.). So it could also have impact to BEs and Tailors as well.
If Bounty Hunters then why not everyone else? And if everyone gets medic skills then why bother having a whole seperate healing profession.
Everymmorpg involves making choices when you develop your character. In our case if we want to be master doctors we're making the choice to not be big damage dealers. Bounty Hunters have made their choice to bemajor damage dealers, and if they want medic skills they even still have enough points left over to buy them like everyone else. There's absolutely no reason or justification to let them have it for free, except to satisify the very vocal minority of players who worship Boba Fett and just think that BHs should be able to everything better than everyone.

That reminded me. They recently taken out the +med use mod skill completely from the game so only way to get the med use is by putting points into it. Sorta tell me Dev really don't want anyone who aren't serious about healing getting the ability so it look bit bleak for BH.
They(Holo I think) said they are discussing everyong being able to use Stimp-A. Having never used one I don't really know how good they are but I am betting only thing it is good for is cutting down dowtime at camp when no healer is around (which in my opinion should be never, you should always take a healer with you when you gobut thats just me) which is fine by me. Has anyone made Advanced Stimp-A?
While you're at it, I think they should also get doctor enhancements automatically applied to them, and automatic wound healing. Plus, they should heal mind damage faster. And they should have have the ability to use Commando weapons.
This is easily the most baseless, illogical, and blatant grab for power I've yet seen. Perhaps instead they should be given the ability to take any starting medic and kick them squarely in the junk. Yeah, that'd be good as well.
I understand that this is in the brainstorming session, so there is no reason to comment on the thread. Their correspondent has also acknowledged the flaws in this idea. However, should they actually float the ability to a developer, I would think we were in our right to publicly oppose such a change.
My favorite excerpts from their thread:
"If we had Self-only First Aid I skills, would that change your votes? This way we cannot heal others, but only ourselves, not effecting Medics themselves to any degree."
"Perhaps rangers get animal tracking and BH's get humanoid tracking? I mean, not to take away from Rangers, but doesn't that just make sense?"
"I think if it only gave us the /firstaid command and allow us to use Stim-B's would be good ....just not the wound packs that should keep the doctors happy and would be great to free up them points."
"I don't inherently have a problem with adding healing abilities to BH's so we could heal up to say half or 2/3rds as well as a master medic."
What color is the sky in their world?
