Thread: A BH just trying to float an idea (very simple medic)

I typically don't read this forum unless it were to pop up in the Dev Tracker. I'm just trying to collect some opinions.

Would you really be upset if BH were changed to the following:

  • add asimple medic skill to Investigation 2/3/4

  • make the medic skill so the BH could only heal themselves

  • change the BH so they would not be able to participate in the GCW unless they were being paid to

  • GCW participation would obviously have to be somewhat limited, definitely from its current level

  • take steps to decrease the overall number of BHs

  • make BH primarily PVE (except for circumstances outline above) unless PC bounties are implemented

  • no medical crafting ability

Honestly, I don't see the damage of such an action. If BH numbers become lower, they begin to serve their real purpose. If the heal skill is very limited, then adding this feature would notcut into your business. Right now, a medic can't even help a BH withtaking out their target so you won't lose that experience/gameplay. Furthermore, if these ideas were added, would you be more inclined to think that BH medic skills are an okay idea?

  • Move the medic skill to master BH thus "rewarding" someone for becoming a MBH by letting them surrender novice medic

If this isn't good enough, what types of changes with the BH profession do you think would be okay without stepping on your toes? I believe that the medic professions don't like the idea of BH medic because it replaces them in PVP. So, if BH PVP is decreased significantly this won't be an issue. Thanks for the input.

I typically don't read this forum unless it were to pop up in the Dev Tracker. I'm just trying to collect some opinions. Also, I am not a typical BH. I do not do PVP and right now the only skill points I have are in scout, marksman, BH, and ranger. The fact is that I do PVE mainly and I understand that the numbers of BHs in PVP is a real problem. I made a commando to participate in the GCW for this very reason. A BH has no place fighting somewhere unless it is a job. Anyway, onto themain point of this thread.

If this isn't good enough, what types of changes with the BH profession do you think would be okay without stepping on your toes? The BH is an independent player and thus really shouldn't need a medic's help if played properly. I believe that the medic professions don't like the idea of BH medic because it replaces them in PVP. Yes you can, I've done it before.

Medics are already not very useful in groups due to everyone with novice being over powered with stim b's usable at novice.

At master , you get 33 pts.... just buy novice.

hmm, im a doc/CM, i dont see it bad as long as, and this is THE most important, they cannot craft anything on their own.

Problem is, it replaces medics in PvE too. Why is it that BHs get to solo and heal themselves without novice medic skills? What next? Commandos? Fencers? This definitely has implications to grouping.

Doctors probably won't be quite as annoyed with this as combat medics, although the outcry here to this exact BH proposal was pretty strong. I had heard that your correspondent had retracted the request after reading through the responses in the medic and doctor forums.

I Don't see why you guys don't just buy novice medic? Its not like you have to master BH to be effective even. Why not just take the 14 points you would spend on the investigation line and use them toawrds novice medic, then you can also use the remaining 30'something points in CH like alot of BH's do

Even at master BH you can still easily get novice and First Aid 1. And all it meant is if you guys want to heal you have to decide what is more important to you....Medical skills, Creature handler Skills, Ranger Stuff (Not exactly sure what BH's want from ranger now?), Squad leader StuffOr Additional Combat Skills? Just like everyone else has to decide.

Interesting you put forth these ideas that already got tremendous negative feedback in the BH forum.

Myself and quite a few other BHs would be upset with removal from the GCW and PvP.

Also, it would be interesting how you'd reduce the number of BHs. Nerf it even more?

If you are trying to save 20 skill points, so you won't have to spend it on Novice Medic + FA II, this would imbalance the game even more.

This is a BAD idea overall.

If I want to play a combat character with healing capabilities, I'll pick combat medic, not BH.

It has to do with the fact that right now, being a BH is a complete waste of skill points unless you decide to abuse BH for the PVP ultra template. I outlined this problem in this thread six months ago. It's stillcorrect (except for LLC effectiveness) much to the displeasure of people who want to play real BHing characters. Unless you are a BH, it's hard to understand our situtation because you see how things work in GCW PVP.

If you want the heals just take up novice medic like everyone else. You don't see us whining that we want scattershot certification put in the wound treatment line.

i wouldnt have a problem with them having a last ditch heal that used 400 mind, rather than giving them novice medic abilities. but it would still be used in pvp so....

all i can reccommend to you is to find a doc, make nice with them and have them buff you before you do your missions. and keep novice medic as long as you can

A resounding NO!

Medics and doctors worth is already trivialized by the fact that a good stim B and wound B is all you need, ever.

This is just wrong. You can have it, but id like to be able to use a LLC please.

Give BH's first aid, and give medics, doctors, and combat medics a way to damage mindpool for 300+ points of damage every second.

I'd call that even.
