NOTE - HEALS CHANGED SIGNIFICANTLY IN PUBLISH 19.

THE BASICS OF HEALING STAYED THE SAME, BUT THE ACTUAL AMOUNT OF HEALING INCREASED.

PLEASE REMEMBER THAT THE HEAL STRENGTHS ARE NO LONGER REPRESENTATIVE.

Reposted from the Doctor forums....

This guide contains descriptions and data of how Medic and Doctor heals are working as of 5/22/05. Part I discusses how Healing Efficiency and modifiers affect the most fundamental medical heal, Bacta Shot. Part II discusses how Doctor and CombatMedic healswork with and without modifiers. Themodifiers examined include enhancers, droids, medical clothes and food.

Conclusions/Summary:

(1) The amount of a heal is greatly influenced by the individual's Healing Efficiency. The Healing Efficiency for some standard templates are:

TemplateBaseHealing Efficiency

0000 Medic 5

0040 Medic25

4040 Medic/Master Doc 105

0400 Medic/Master CM 80

4440 Medic/Master Doc/MCM 180

Theimpact of Healing Efficiency on the amount of a heal is non-linear, with diminishing returns at higher levels. Thus modifiers like Healing Efficiency clothes and food have a great impact for low level medics, but very little effect onMDs or MCMs.

(2) Enhancers provide up to a 50% healing increase for MDs using Bacta Jabor for MCMs usingBacta Toss and Bacta Spray. Only a 14% increase was observed for an MD using a BactaInfusion Enhancer.

(3) Droids provide huge increases in healing - up to 30% for MDs or MCMs and potentially over 100% for low level Medics. It is believed that the droids are currently working by increasing the healing efficiency by 150% (2.5x multiplier).

(4) Bioenhanced clothes for Healing Efficiency are working. The effecitve cap is +25, even thought the stats in the window may say higher.

(5) Chef foodis effectivein increasing Healing Efficiency.

PART I - Bacta Shot

Bacta Shot is the most basic of medic heals, available at novice medic. In the tests summarized below, Bacta Shot was used with various modifiers and at different skill levels. Each data point is the summary of 25 heals (except for food tests which used +50 Thakilto andincluded 10-12 heals). The droid used contained a +110 medical module. The numbers in parenthesis are the percent increase of the base case (no modifications).Doctor was not included in these tests, since they use a different version of Bacta Shot (Improved or Advanced Bacta Shot); those results will be discussed in Part II.

Skill level Modifiers Heal Eff Average Heal Average Heal
no droidwith 110 droid
0000 Medic none +5141 272 (+93%)
0000 Medic +17 clothes+22284(+101%) 402(+185%)
0000 Medic +34 clothes +30***332(+135%)---
0000 Medic +50 food +55 421(+199%) ---

0040 Medic none +25 305 438(+44%)
0040 Medic +17 clothes +22 383(+26%)513 (+68%)
0040 Medic +50 clothes+75 531(+74%)---

0040 Medic/Nov CM none +15 240 368 (+53%)

0400 Medic/MCM none +80 472 609 (+29%)
0400 Medic/MCM +17 clothes +97 496(+5%)632 (+34%)
0400 Medic/MCM+50 food +130531(+12%) ---

4430 Medic/MCM none+95 496 626 (+26%)
4430 Medic/MCM +17 clothes+112 517(+4%) 648(+31%)

***The cap on bioclothing mods is +25,asdiscussed by the devs and supported by this data.

As shown above, the increase in Healing Efficiency through clothes and food makes a HUGE impact for low level medics, but has barely any effect for the MCM. In all cases though the droids significantly increase the heals (25-100%). The practicality of using droids in a real setting is questionable though, because of the fragileness of droids on the battlefield.

For those interested in mathematical formulas, it was found that the above data had an excellent fit (R2=0.998) to the equation,

Heal = 140.85*ln(HE) - 146.88,

if the +5 heal efficiency point is left out (it seems artificially high?). When this formula was applied to solve for the effective HE of the droid data, it was found that in almost all cases (the +5 data being an exception) that theapparent Healing Effectiveness was 2.5x that of actual. Consequently, I believe that is how droids are functioning, by increasing the Healing Effectiveness by 150% (2.5x multiplier).

PART II - DoctorHeals

All healing tests performed here used a Master Doctor with 4040 Medic (105 healing efficiency). Each data point represents an average of 25 heals. The medical droid was +110 rated. Numbers in paranthesis are the percent improvement over the base, unmodified heal.

AdvancedBacta Shot

Modifications Average Heal

none 798

droid1023 (+28%)

+17 Heal Eff clothes 829(+4%)

+17 clothes, droid1047 (+31%)

none 283

droid 354 (+25%)

+17 Heal Eff clothes279 (-1%)

+1296power enhancer 419 (+48%)

enhancer, droid &clothes 502 (+78%)

There are some odd results here. While the droid's improvement to Bacta Jab and Adv. Bacta Shot heals are similar to that seen for Bacta Shot for MCM (around 25%), the impact on Bacta Infusion is much lower (about 7%). The effect of the enhancer on Bacta Infusion (14%) is also much lower than for Bacta Jab and the CM heals.Furthermore,it is appears that the heal efficiency clothes are not working on Bacta Infusion and Bacta Jab, although it might be that the difference was too small to reliably see.

**************************************************************

Part III - CM Heals

In this section, CM Heals are examined for a few different templates. It is somewhat easier to stufy the effect of Healing Efficiency on CM than doctor since CM grants skills early in medic boxes, but doesnt improve heal efficiency until the CM trees.

Bacta Toss

Modifiers 0400 Medic/Novice CM 0400 Medic/MCM 4430 Medic/MCM

+1302 enhancer205 (+63%) 699 (+49%) ---

droid, clothes and enhancer 856 (+82%) ---

Nothing really different here for MCM, you see the same sort of mods for droids as seen in the Bacta Shot case, and the same level of enhancement as seen for Bacta Jab.As expected, for the Novice CM case, the droid and clothes percentmodifiers are higher than the MCM cases. What is perhaps surprising though is that the enhancer modifiers are also increased from around 50% with MCM to 60-80% with Novice CM. It is possible that the enhancers are working in effect to modify the Healing Effeciency level, which is why you see a greater effect at low med levels.

The question that remains for all of these results, is "Is this working as intended?" Many of the results seem odd here - the high droid heals, the higher than expected enhancer boosts, and the low impact of bioclothes on the MCM or MD. Now that the data is on the table, I'm hoping we can have some constructive debate on how things are working and how they could be improved.

Fantastic work Matta! The community really appreciates all the testing you do. Lets try to keep this on the front page as many new CM's ask questions about how to be an effective CM and this will do much to help answer their concerns.

It is curious how much a droid helps and I doubt that is working as intended. Though I guess because it's so difficult to use one in the wild, the reward for doing so should be greater. Also, I wonder if the dev's look at the bio-modded clothing as something for non-masters (since they can't wear fully mitigated armor) and that is why there is such a huge decrease on returns. If that is they're reasoning, I would say it is faulty because the price makes it more something masters can afford than someone still doing their grind. I don't know.

Great info, though. Keep up the good work! Now to just find some BE that make the stupid enhancers!

Outstanding Information

From a MCM point of view who has access to a MDE what type of medical droid do you think would be good for combat. Meaning what modules do you feel are most important. I am trying to get a feel for this becuase its so new and even though i am throwing what i believe to be weak area sprays (750 power/effect) I could use a helping hand from a good 110medical rated droid. But the next question is with an advanced droid i have access to several modules and none of them have to be crafting anymore. So what's the real need of the MCM. Maybe a combat droid that can harvest fire off a ranged attack? Let me know what you think.

As an MDE with zero access to the servers and nothing but time to wander into the CM forums, this info is AWESOME.

A couple of things with droids that I've noticed after the CU.

1: They actually regenerate pretty fast. (plus supposedly the autorepair modules are working again)

2: It looks as if the bacta "spells" work on them.

So you could go with an R3 with room for six modules.

one 110% medical module

two auto repair modules

three combat modules.

Not only does your healing get better but you can actually heal your droid better as well.

Or any other type of option. Add storage for the storage impaired, or play with the auto repair/combat ratio for greater tanking or greater DOT.

Excellent and professional as always Matta. It's Johb' an old customer from aught three -- -Since Pub 18 as a MBH/MR 4000 CM my Bacta Sprays and Tosses (with Enhancers ~1000+ eff) have dropped from 900s - high 800s to 600s - high 500s during pvp, gah! -- anyone else observing this? Stealth nerf? Comments?

Anyone else noticing this? Well if I call a med droid I enjoynearly the same level of heals 800-900+ toss 700ish for spray I did prior to pub 18 without a droid.
