Thread: PvP Tactics Advice
I'm a new Master Combat medic and had my first PvP encounter last night. I had made every single poison and disease C pack for allprimary and secondary stats. Very early on in the skirmish I realized that Mind Poison (area/single) are by far the best offense, and the other poisons and diseaseproved to be not much use at all, especially considering how long it takes for disease tokick in.
I'm looking for advice on what PvP tactics other people use.
Thanks in advance.
Beech
I find this tactic underhanded and contributing to the cries of nerf since our poisons can go through walls. Poison should go through walls in my opinion, and I would like to keep it that way.. but it's people like you that exploit this ability by poisoning an incapped body which in turn hits everyone in the base.
Can another other player shoot an incapped player? Could a commando fire a rocket at an incapped player and hope to AoE those around him? No.. and this is exactly what is ruining PvP base wars. It's even worse that you have an ally that will allow you to use this exploit by running in neutral to everyone but you and purposefully incapping at the mouth. Even worse still you are spreading word of your exploits to new MCMs!
And by the way an exploit as defined by a Dev is utilizing a bug in the game to your advantage.. I think it's surely a bug that we are one of the only classes that can target and fire on an incapped person and you are abusing that. This is why professions get nerfed.

LOL I'm not even talking about it going through walls. Incapping a target at the mouth gives my AE a cone which can affect the defenders. Underhanded as it may be it is not an exploit. The devs in their infinite wisdom added in code to not allow you to AFFECT and incapped target long ago in the form of an auto resist.

Having an ally or spy to help me "paint" a target is a sound tactic IMHO. I tend to use the same strategy when TKAs hide inside the AH cantina waiting for me to come to them so they can spam Dizzy/KD on me. I think not. In your opinion this may be an exploit and you are welcome to not use it. Until I am otherwise informed I will continue to use this strategy. As will many CMs from here on out.

No it is not a bug or an exploit. The devs introduced the +1 nerf which helped to birth this tactic. Take away +1 and we will no longer be able to use a "painted" target. You can't throw poison on a corpse you know...
> target and fire on an incapped person
No we are not, everyone can target and attack incapped person, just not going to do much good. Unless you have AOE attack, like CM poison or Carbine AE KD, or Flame Con, or...

My strategy is not to bypass LOS, it is to use a target that is within LOS so your AE can affect other targets in its range. It is no different than firing a rocket or lobbing a grenade at the mouth. Only difference is that CMs are the only ones who can do it in this game.
BTW, even if they removed the ability to toss on an incapped target, you could still get a player to feign death at the mouth and continue to unleash a barrage of death at the mouth. Is that an exploit? No, because FD is coded to still let others fire on you even when feigned. And anyone can do that. Once again sound tactics...

Going through walls is exactly what you are talking about. It goes through walls, it goes through floors, it hits everyone there. I've been in a base when it's happened. Underground or not you're gonna get poisoned. The code they implemented to allow you not to AFFECT a target was put in as a fix to another exploit because CMs like you were taking advantage of downed soldiers by throwing diseases on their incapped bodies and leaving them incapped. (And yes some non-exploiting CMs were hitting the downed soldiers with area attacks accidentally.) They implemented this code completely unrelated to the fix they implemented for the incap dance with the +1 cap.

Of course I wont use such a tactic, nor will I ever fight alongside a CM using such a tactic, but the reason I intervene in this is because its these tactics that are going to get us nerfed. Every time you use this exploit you open the possibility of people reporting you. You spread the reports by suggesting to other people to do it in their battles on their servers. Every report on a CM attacking a base and poisoning a target they cannot otherwise see is another black eye on our profession. (Yea you know "You have been poisoned by Human") You may not think you're effecting anyone but yourself and your enemies, but in reality you're effecting everyone on this forum.

Here you seek to insinuate that your behavoir is justified because the devs made the exploit possible by weakening you. As if it was somehow okay to exploit now because you're not as strong as you once were. The exploit was not given as a consolation prize for applying to us the +1 cap. It was unintential. I seriously doubt the devs said let's cap all the DoT attacks at 1 point, but the CMs should be appeased because they'll be able to unrealistically target enemies that they shouldn't otherwise be able to see.
I see its going to take another nerf before people realize how not to abuse their power. Just because with the code of the game it is possible to do something, doesn't mean it's not an exploit. You are abusing the code, no way of justifying it or talking your way around it.
Lastly..

I've NEVER been able to target an incapped person and fire at them with a weapon, next to Sniper shot. I have never used a carbine or a Flame thrower but I know if I double click an incapped person to attack them, I'll get a "You are too far to Deathblow" message.. no attack..

Going through the walls, floors etc may need to be fixed but there is no reason the area around the target that is not covered by walls should not be affected. That is what I am talking about. Taking advantage of a downed soldier may be underhanded but it is still a viable tactic. This isn't Carebears PVP.

It is the exact same thing as if the target were live and standing. The only difference is the target is incapped. You want to protect yourself from this tactic? You better drag that incapped player out of my line of sight because I will use him.

Therein lies the crux of the issue. Is it an exploit or not? No it is not. You can drag that incapped player or keep your defenders out of my line of sight. Very simple. As far as unrealistically targetting you, tell you what...let's have a target at that position. Setup a 50 pound drum full of raw sewage above that target. You stand at 9 o'clock 4m from that target with nothing in the way.I'll chuck a rock from 6 o'clock at the drum to trigger it's release. What I end up releasing on you at that point is what is known in the Fire Service Community as "Splash Damage".
Now are you going to let me toss that rock? You going to leave that trigger up for me to release? I'd suggest from here on out you drag your buddies clear then. Unrealistically? LOL

Once again that is your opinion and you are entitled to it. I am not abusing the code at all. I am using sound tactics to defeat my enemy. You ever played Quake? You ever catch a guy as he is about to run through a hallway? You see he is about to make it, but you fire a rocket, not at him but at the opening of the hallway. FRAGGED...Is that abusing the game too? Tactics you whiner...

So until you actually have experience with those weapons who are you to shout "exploit"? Like I said before, you could still use a feigned target to achieve the same effect. Double clicking on an incapped target by default willissue aDB command. Same as double clicking on a batch of resources in your inventory defaults to split command. Much in the same way double clicking on most anything else gives you Examine commandby default.

In PVP raids I useAE Mind Disease, AE Action Disease, AE Health Poison, AE Mind Poison, and Mind Poison singles.
Try and wait for one player at the mouth of the base.Once you hit Start off with Action Disease to affect NPCs and everyone else in AE range. Once you hit him he will run back behind the walls trying to get cured or meditate it off. The NPCs will start running out. Use one of them as a target to start lobbing your Health Poison.
Try and get one target (be it a player or NPC pet) incapped at the mouth of the base. Even though they are incapped they can still be used as a target so don'tDB them. Lob your poisons/diseases on this target. The target will automatically resist but the AE will still go off, affecting everyone in range again.
You can also duel a Nuetral player or Imp spy and use them as a target to achieve the same effect.
It is a sad day for the combat medics..
And btw the enemy cant drag the guy if you duel your friend and incap him at the mouth as you posted about in another thread.
No wonder we have sucha bad reputation.
