Thread: TKA vs CM issue
Guys,
Ran into this problem last weekend. A few overt rebels came into Theed. I, being a loyal citizen of the empire, declared and proceeded to go 1v1 on a TKA/rifleman. Bad idea, I know..... but I was cloned and insured and didn't really care..... to be honest I was bored. So I throw out a sniper pack (80m) to lay down a little CM loving on him. I back off and kept out of LOS to keep from being mind wiped. As I watch his bar, his mind is decreasing.... then regenning, then decreasing again with the next tick. Except the kicker is that the tick is decreasing because he is meditating.
He totally dropped the poison and kept over 300 mind. I threw a280ish per tick poison on him. So I said screw it and closed to throw a 490 per tick on him, gotkilled (didnt know he was TKA, got too close) and didnt clone to watch the poison tick. Same thing...... I didnt even get him below 200 mind.
I talked with him afterwards and he said he was meditating to clear the poison. I looked at the skill tree and figured out that TKAs get this skill with novice TKA. Ok...... novice brawler + 1 line of unarmed + novice TKA and they invalidate poison/disease and can heal wounds with no doctor. WTFO.
Its not just a Novice TK skill, there is a whole tree for meditation. The low-end meditation skill is pretty weak, and doesnt really start to become usefull until thesecond skill box. At Meditation II, you get power boost, which is probably what the TK youfought did. Powerboost will add a 50% boost to the mind pool that lasts for a few minutes. And the wound/poison healing doesnt really become usefull until higher up in the meditation tree.
To say that this person is getting a full powered skill at novice is incorrect.
Calling for a nerfin another proffession that you know little about is not a thing you should get in the habit of doiing.
Other people started whining about the Combat Med poisons and looked what happened. Poisons no longer incap.
Actually Meditate 1 in the tka tree clears poison, 2 is desease, or 3, cant remember.
bleeding is at novice i think.
There is no issue here concerning TKA.
They are one class that earns the skill to clear those things, some poisons can wipe out a tka, its been seen and known.
if he was just sitting there meditating and youwerent attacking him then its perfectly fine that he would be clearing his poison.
You could of attacked him with a weapon even a cdef pistol while he was medding, while a tka meditates they cant move.
Tactics are something to think about, as far as I see there is no problem concerning tka with cm issues.
Ahhh, I didn't know there was modifiers on top of the novice skill. I guess I didn't ask him the right questions when I was asking how he cleared himself of the poison. If it takes multiple squares of the profession to get the full use of this skill, then I think it is fine as is. I was concerned that it only took novice.
I posted this here to get some education on the subject. I am a little dismayed to see myself one starred. Thanks guys =)
there, i gave you 5 to cancel out whoever it was that gave you one

TKs cure bleed at meditate 1, poison at 2, disease at 3, wounds at 4. To do what you describe, the tk had to be a master TK, be out of combat, and a be bit lucky about the timing of the ticks.
You cannot meditate while in combat.. and meditate will not cure a decent CM poison before the first tick even at master. The only thing you can't do with a TKM is "fire and forget." As long as you stay in combat with them they cannot meditate the poison away. Since a TKM/Rifleman has very heavy mind costs for specials you should be able to put on a good helmet and win every time.
Just some things to consider before being too concerned about TKAs on the battlefield.
You must not have very effective poison. At master level, my single poison ticks for well over 620 damage per. I woul really love to see any TKM meditate out of that before I incap him with a mind disease or a headshot.
Assuming every server has the same ingredients as you is nice and all but that just isn't the case. Stock up on whatever it is that you used to make that poison/disease =)
Regardless, it's taking great effort to avoid pointing out that having one profession whom you cannot beat in PvP every time with no risk is not the biggest problem to come down the line.

However if you want to talk about CM weaknesses in PvE I'll be right there supporting you :-)
