Thread: Ranges Driving Me Insane!!!

is there anywhere that documents exactly WHAT is the range on each CM skill. because lordy i cant recall ever being so frustrated in my life as seeing "too far" flash across my screen no matter what i did.

I believe our range is 35m. I've never had a single problem lobbing from that distance... only if there's lag (because the server sees you running up to 35m still).

well i have yet to have a single problem with things like duetronium toss and the neurotoxin. but paralyze and shock its like i need to be within 10 meters or so...at which point i tend to die =P

From what I recall off the top of my head all debuffs are 10 meters, bacta toss, nuerotoxin, infect, and duetrium toss 35 meters.

Doh, yes. Debuffs are somewhere between 7m-10m. I tend to just lob, stopping shot... if they do get close, quick paralize, debuff their movement speed, pistolwhip and run like hell

I prefer to keep them close, lead with paralyze then debuff. If you let the range guys get away from you it's gonna hurt. Against someone I know has a nasty range I may skip the dots, so I can reuse paralyze. A quick paralyze then sit down for a sec will regen your mind bar so you can keep going

Yes, I tested this last night. Heals, poisons, fire, all hit at 35 meters. ALL debuffs, including the snare, and paralyze, are at about 10 meters.


And yes I agree this is nuts.


Last night we had a group of12 (6 Jedi) and we got jumped by a group of 15 (13 Jedi) and I hate to say it, but by the time I get into range for debuffs, I got hammered by all the AOE saber attacks not even targeted toward me. I got triple incapped for it fast.


The Nuerotoxin and duetrium work well, but it seemed strange, I was only ticking on the Jedi for about 240 with fire, and 280 with poison. This was with no enhancements. I ran out. But still, 500 damage every 4 seconds is a nice little tap. Course as a Master Carbine, Master CM, with leg shot, I hit for 800 every3 seconds. *Shrug*. Add it up, and after the initial 3 - 4 seconds to get theDOT off, I can really outdamage even a rifleman.


I still wish disease gave wounds.

yeah the problem with the debuffs being a 10 meter range is that ... in my experience... when im within 10 meters of more than 2 jedi, i'm dead.

im no longer doing solo pvp, im talking about large scale pvp (15+). having to be within 10 meters of those jedi area attacks HURTS.

I brought it up at Fan Fest that 10 meters is too short for debuffs, it seemed rather shrugged off by the Devs. Forgetting Jedi PvP for a minute, it just feels wrong that if a CM is an eliete ranged profession we need to get so close to the enemies.

I feel that the exception to this is paralyze, and that should have a closer range on it.

You're a CM not a front line fighter. Let the meat shields hit in the first wave and you follow up behind. More chances to get lost in the crowd and get your debuffs/DoT's off without being attacked.


Switch targets often to speed the applications. Thyroid one then retarget and hemmorage another. If thyroid hasn't reset by then then toss a DoT or fire your weapon. Reverse, rinse, repeat. This is very MIND intensive so be sure you have all the necessary foods and spices ready to go.


Never stop to debuff. Do drive by debuffs, DoT's, heals, etc. Standing still makes you a target. The human eye notices movement but focuses easier on non-moving objects. Standing still attracts attention which is something you dont want. If the enemies realize you're a prime target they'll have to TAB through everyone else to get your name unless they are quick with mouse targetting which is kinda hard in the middle of a fight. While they TAB to find you they have slowed or stopped their attacks which helps the rest of your team.

yes those ar all good tips and i will keep them in mind.

but also remember: lag.( dont know about other servers, but ahazi is a hell pit of lag ever since patch 18). AREA attack. saber throw range: 35 meters.

when my range is 10 meters, theres not much you can do but be AT the front line. sure you stay slghtly behind the tanks and jedi, but that doesnt mean you dont get it by the aoe's.

but yes i will try to keep moving... my most frustrating moment to date was when i was trying to do exactly that. i got kd'd and was then rewarded with that charming keep running and then sliding 40-50 m bug which slid me directly behind enemy lines...
