Thread: Nerf CM's? AKA To the whiners:

All right. I have read a lot of "Nerf CM posts" Even those in my guild want it nerfed. Why? Simply because they can't own. Now that said, there are two things that have been said on the boards from the higher ups that will be implemented at some point.


1. Healable mind pool.


2. Poison mitigation by a smuggling spice that will be introduced.


I think this should be enough to quiet the nerfing squad. Another thing that people are asking for is a 75% damage reduction for CM's in PVP. I ask why? If that is the case, PVP will become a whole lot easier. Again, those that feel they should own will then own. People only want to have the best profession for PVP.CM's are easily beaten. I can attest to that from sampling some PVP as a master CM. If no one protects you, or you are not a CM/Doc, you die. Simply stated.


Diseases tick too little to be really useful in PVP as one of my guildies stated. CM's are targeted right away in PVP. They can be easily dealt with. We have to dedicate many skill points to get to MCM, andwe are defenseless when going Doc. What are we supposed to do? Kick you in PVP for damage? CM is the only thing that really makes PVP interesting. It is usually a fricken free for all anyway. I think thathaving tactics is a veryvalid point. There are a few templates that are FOTM. I personally feel that balanced teams will do some damage in PVP. Of course that takes planning and tactics. If you can get a balanced squad then you should have some good tactics, otherwise it is a free for all.


The other big thing I see that folks want implemented is armor resists. Well, if they are implemented they should be capped. Are you saying that only this would only make Poison/Disease C's worthwhile?If so you nerf the profession overall. If anything these components for armor resists should be loot drop only. If you want it go and get it!


We can really only wait until the combat balance is complete. Maybe then there won't be so many rifleman/docs rifleman/cms fencer/docs cm/docs or whatever else. I would hate to think that all the resources I gathered, time experimenting and gathering tapes would go to waste.


Granted there are some things for this profession that need to be fixed, IE poisoning through wall holes, the dueling exploit, and of course the distance bug. Other than that I think this is a good prof and until the combat balance is settled and other bug issues are fixed, I think the nerf criers should just wait it out and see what is coming. It is certainly beating a dead horse to complain as often as has been on this profession forum. Sheesh most posts are nerf related!

I have an area poison which ticks for860 which can be stacked with a single-target poison that tics for 1060. I have an area disease which tics for 538 wounds which can be stacked with a single-target disease that tics for 560 wounds. If I eat Havla I can chuck the stuff at an insane rate. There are alot of people who have better "stuff" than me.


If I throw the stuff at someone who doesn't have a doctor nearby, they are DEAD. I have assisted in the deaths of at least three Dark JediGuardians (players).


As far as I know, combat medicswere not in any "Star Wars" movies, literature or games - until now- yet they are the most dominant force in this game.


I have played otherprofessions which have been nerfed to the dust and this is the first profession in which I support nerfing.

well lets look at the facts. People (non CMs who PVP)have complained about this profession for months and months now. It took a long time to even get LoS fixed, and all the other game breaking stuff is still about (triple incaps, poison through walls, insane range, 75% reduction). People return from fan fest and the general consensus is no nerf for CM.


Looks like CM is staying as is.

What I don't understand is how is it. That a healing class ie, Combat Medic has a more effective offense than most of the so called fighting class's?


Admittedly I have just come back (2 months) beta tested. But wow... someone that can throw poison farther than a Rifleman can shoot?

Combat Medic is a misnamed class just like Heavy Swordsman and Fencer, We should be called combat chemists or something similar. Just as Fencer should be rusty stick handler and Swordsman should have somthing about hammers and scythes in its name. Now I know it doesn't suite everyone the same and some do use the heals alot. Don't bring the whole, "it says medic in your title so you shouldn't do alot of damage," argument in here because it isn't the only misnamed profesion.

Oh and the whole range thing is a bug... if you didn't read any other posts yet.

well the devs said CM won't get nerfedat Fanfest, and told anyone who asked to go learn some tactics... so everyone coming here saying to nerf it is just wasting his and our time.


I think the only thing we can do is wait for the combat revamp and hope for the best.

Ok I will address this. 1st thing. Tactics? In a 1 vs 1 pvp you are doomed against a MCM. Period end of story. Mind you most CM's are also riflemen. So don't sit here and tell me how defenseless you are cause its a load of hoowie and you know it. I got my behind handed to me by a wookie in that silly armor who was a rifleman/cm. I don't like being killed when my attacker is INSIDE a building and I am outside it, esp when they were over 80m away. Why is it a rifleman (who should have the longest range in the game) can't shoot a T21 as far as a CM can hurl a dose of poisen? Makes no logical sense at all. Yes this game is not based on reality, I get this, but come on people lets try to make it a bit more fair.


Now I remmeber at the beginning of this game. People ran around with 3 ATST's and 3 Graul Maulers. People whined and complained until the bracksets came home. Now it is almost impossible to find a creature handler and ATST's can be taken down by one buffed fencer. I don't understand why the devolpers feel it is ok to leave one completely overpowered profession, and nerf another to all get out.


Point blank: I played a CM. It is way overpowered. Not alone but they are never just MCM's they are always MCM's and ranged something or other. Yes You will all hate me but I speak the truth and all of you who play them or get killed by them, at some level, will agree with me. Combat Medics are not what they were designed to be. Players are exploiting the heck of this profession and I really feel it must be dealt with.


Devolpers of SWG. I know you were quoted that it won't be changed until after the combat changes are done. I must say, facing a MCM in PVP is the worst thing one can see in 1vs1 pvp. I was buffed by a master dancer, on muon gold, and 2 doses of 410 brandy, as well as my TKM buff of 500. My mind pool was almost 3800 and he dispatched me before I could land one hit on him (he was dosing me through a wall). This needs to be addressed asap. Don't tell me to learn tactics, as I love tactical games and excell at them. Yes I am asking that the exploits of being hit through walls be addressed as well as the range.


The only tactic to beat this combination is to become one. I have noticed a lot of players doing that exact same thing. So now instead of millions of MCH's running around we have millions of MCM's. I ask you, what is the difference?

lol you say ppl only want cm nerfed cos they cant own, you dont want combat medic nerfed because then YOU CANT OWN, why the hell are they using poison anyway, they should have a bloody rifle so they can "hold their own in a fight" not, slaughter excessive amounts of enemy troops from 98m away and not even have to get dirty. combat medic is overpowered, their poisons are overpowered their disease is overpowered, everything about them is OvErPoWeReD, if you dont think that, then your a deluded prat who cant get over not playing in god mode


can you tell i really like combat medics ?

There is one tactic that CM's cannot counter, stop PvPing. That is what I did, been alot happier since I got out of the "I hit my macro and have less lag that you" game.

Oh yeah, hurling poison 80 meters thru walls into buildings that ticks twice and you die with all possible buffs/food for the mind and no PvP 75% dmg reduction seems right, keep that in PvP....go Devs!

Lets have a stat sheet for what professions the Devs/CSR's play as? How about Jeassa ? She closes threads like this one ? Don't comment on our bad decisions! Yeah, sorry..don't think so.

I have been considering becoming a Combat Medic. After reading these posts, I am definitely going to become a Combat Medic.
