Thread: PvP Vs Riflemen Mind Heal is Mandatory

I assume I'm not the only Combat Medic out there who likes to PvP with some friends. Things go well until we encounter a rifleman... then Bam suddenly I'm useless and people are incapping everywhere. I don't get it... riflemen can do the most damage in one shot and well, lookee there... I can't heal any of it. This is getting rather frustrating. If mind damage can't be healed then riflemen need a damage reduction... Otherwise PvP is going to get really lame.

wait till you meet someone who knows how to use a carbine before you complain about a rifleman picking single targets with one shot.

DarkStalker means that you can always replenish an action bar... Mind is not the case.

Problem is not imho that there is no 'mind cure', it's just that there is no counterpart : many things do max damagesto your mind and there is nothing that can heals it (except time...)

carbine AOE knockdown is gay..esp when spammed...

actually ne knockdown is gay...since u can spam it over and over...

actually mind damage is becoming less of an issue now in PvP, because PvP is basically becoming a twitch -fest first shot wins...

just about every elite combat class has a spam for a cheezy win special move...

i guess thats how the devs wanted it...

Mind heals strictly for the incapped would be an excellent solution. A nice middle ground.

yeah, theres an interesting twist to the situation. mind heals for incapped... no abusing this one for healing yourself. keeps medics in a truly supportive role. and if it only heals damage to get someone back in a fight for a few seconds (Lord knows the pace of combat is too fast anyway as it is) then entertainers are not taken away from. great idea

still need to figure out

what the mind cost to use a stim like that would be...

how much would a mind heal like that heal for?

in a way i almost see this as a stop gap, since once this was installed people would be saying...ok no u need to get rid of the 3 incap= death rule...

i still see rifleman 1 shotting people..now they just do it 3 times...

will this stim be ranged or normal? if its normal, how will u prevent riflemen from just waiting until the med stick his little head out before blowing it off...

for PvE, i think the mind heal would have to be significant to really be effective like 50% mind heals. otherwise the danger that the newly woken upguy would take another head shot and incap again is high and the 3 incap = death rule becomes very very annoying...

If a riflemen is that alert in pvp they deserve to shoot your newly woken up comrade. However as most things they are either a) running up to get db or b) have switched targets. And if they shot your friend chances are your in range of getting shot yourself. Probably put this as a master medic ability for normal ones then add b's c's and d's along the combat medic and doctor lines - doctor would be point blank while combat medics would be ranged. Mind cost would be the same as stims of comparable ranks so a ranged mind heal c would cost the same and heal the same as a ranged action/health heal stim c.

I'm a novice CM and a novice Rifleman, so I fall on either side of this question. Overall, though I think the advantage of being able to hit an unhealable pool, hard, at distance is more than counter-balanced by the fact that in close quarters, rifles miss...A LOT and the fire rate for the ones that do the serious damage is so slow, they get one shot at best. Knockdowns are far more in need of a nerf or at least a fix so they don't freeze the combat queue.

As a CM, though, i think a LIMITED ability to heal mind damage wouldn't be too bad. There should be a comensurate penalty, either in time or our own mind pool drain, but it'd be okay if the damage healed were not too drastic, because the ability to attack the mind is the only thing that keeps some riflemen alive. Maybe we could have valium mind packs, that don't heal much damage...but you don't care so much...

I was thinking a better way to solve the issue would be to put in a heal that would only heal the mind bar if the target was incapacitated. I know its frustrating to not be able to "heal" the mind bar but its even more frustrating to have a teamate go incaped from mind and they just have to sit and wait until somone runs up and deathblows them. They could have variuos lvls like all meds - some healing a little and higher tiers healing a lot. That way the abiliity can't be overlly abused and would still allow us atleast some form to revive mind wounded players.

It bugs me everytime something smells of nerf. Some one trashed your gimp group and you lost so he has to be nerfed? How did you miss that red dot approaching? I'm a master combat medic and a novice cabinier. I killed a creature handler and novice medic today at the same time (CH even had a rancor). Do I now need to be nerfed?

PvPing isn't for gimps who lack skill and alertness. If you cannot deal with it don't PvP. Resign from your faction and never go back to it. If you want to PvP and think rifleman is so uber then get the skills for it (they are available to you!) and go PvP. The rifle is the SLOWEST weapon in the game it should thus be the most powerful against the most impacting pool. Even in real life if you get shot in the chest or leg you might live. If you get shot in the head with a powerful rifle you don't stand too much of a chance. Rifles suck up close. If the rifleman doesn't one shot you he's dead. I think you're a big fat liar to say the lone rifleman shot your entire group. He probably shot just you and you came here and complained before you had time to clone. I'm quite happy to meet a rifleman in PvP or a smuggler or a TKA or anything else that comes.

Quit calling for nerfs against every class.
