Think simple.

Remove housing maintenence altogether. If your toon doesn't log into the game within 30 days, the house is packed up and put into your bank.

This could solve lingering houses and possibly even cross-server house trades. Property might need a little adjustment...maybe set a flat rate per structure type.

Hasn't it been long enough? This issue concerning condemmed housing has been going on for many months, and still not one CSR or developer has addressed the issue, or even responded to the many threads on this issue. It's a valid issue, and an important one, yet it keeps getting ignored, why?

I'm tired of dodging hundreds of factories sitting in a field burning up, tired of dodging many many condemmed houses, sick of the lag, and the eyesore of it all. Go out of theed just a short distance and it's horrible, the landscape is littered with burning miners, and condemmed structures. Would Lucas be impressed? I think not

This "pack up feature" does NOT address the issue of all the condemmed housing, however it does address the issue that condemmed housing was trying to address. The reason this whole condemmed housing feature was implimented was to try an lure old customers back to the game, with promises that your goods would still be here. Now with this new feature when people leave they can pack up. Ok, good deal, good idea sony. NOW, stop catering to the non paying player base, and start thinking about those who are playing to play, and start thinking about the quality of the game you charge us for. Having all these comdemmed structures is the stupidest idea you ever came up with. Get rid of them, PLEASE!!!!

Take us back to the days where if the maint ran out, it went into decay, and once it reached zero..POOF, it's GONE. Why should we care if the owner comes back in a year? They certainly didn't care about their stuff when they cancelled their accounts did they?

We don;t need a charcater purge to get rid of this stuff, what we need is to go back to the days when stuff poofed after the decay process!!!!!! If someone loses stuff, TOO FREAKING BAD, they now have teh option to "pack up" when they leave, so there is no esxcuse, and NO NEEDE for condemmed structures anymore!

Please, for the love of god, get rid of them, and do it SOON, no more procrastinating! It was a stupid idea to begin with, and there is no shame in saying ooops, we shouldnt have done that, we are gonna go back to the old way. Infact admitting that mistake would bring ya's up a notch in my eyes

Cheers, let's return to the old way, no maintenance, home, guild hall, structures decay then go poof. If you are leaving the game or taking a break from the game and do not have the courtesy or common sense to pack up your stuff and store it, then it is your loss.

Unfortunately since this is a non-combat issue it will get relegated to the back burned until the Jedi start tohitch and moan about it.

Maybe we should surround the village with burning harvesters.....

I knew when they changed that to the "new" way it would come back and bite us all in the proverbial <you know the word>.

Well they finally ran off this paying customer...I am now in the progress of selling off stuff, then I will be packing up and will cancel my nine accounts. I have tried everything to get a response or to get the problem fixed including picking up my beloved city and moving to another planet.

They won't listen on the dancers problems....or anything or any suggestions we make. Every stinking patch is more like another death chop to the game. Now dancers can no longer buff themselves...well, that got me into thinking it was time to quit. I used to enjoy all aspects of the game till they managed to nerf the fun right out it with each patch and neglect. So will spend today putting up my unique items on my vendors then when sold I am so out of here.

I think they're hurting for subscriptions and don't want to chase off anyone that might possibly come back to the game after being away for any extended period of time no matter how long that might be.

If you knew all your junk was gone, would you be as likely to come back to a game that you had left in the first place?

But we need to look at this reasonably:

Are you really going to grasp at fringe players who have left the game and ignore your current players who have stayed with the game?

Are you willing to lose more players over stupidity?

Or just let go of what you no longer really have, and try to hold on to what you still have before it's gone???

"When Sony and Lucas set out, we said, How can we do this and not make another EQ? We didn't want it to be all about Luke, or combat, or lock our players into a class. So we created a system that would allow players to switch professions during the game, and there would be a lot of gameplay around making that change. If you want to go from architect to scout we've created a system to make that happen."

generous quiters liquidate their holdings and give those creds back to their guild, not that there are many of them...., but we've had a few do that.

Having a structure purge would be great. This game already sucks up WAY too much memory as it is. And abandoned structures all over the place dont help matters any.

With the new "pack up" feature, why not go one step further to help clean up the landscape/open space for those ACTUALLY playing the game. After say a month (?), the condemed structure is automatically "packed up" and placed in the players' (and I use that term very loosely -seeing ashow they AREN'T playing) safe deposit box. This action automatically opens the lot on which the structure was placed. This keep the owner (if they ever do start to play again) happy as they haven't lost thier stuff AND it makes real, day to day players happy because valuable real estate is again open up for use.

It's a win-win situation. (Granted the original owner loses his space, but them's the breaks for being away for months on end - if they ever return at all!)

A fine solution for all:

Houses, Harvesters etc will be automatically stuffed by the House Packup feature into your Datapad after 3 Month of non Paid account!

Planets would be finally more empty again and you dont hit a house and a house and a house when driving.

Houses in Player Citys will be packed too! 3 Month not paid gives a hint, that this Char wont return too fast.
