I'm thrilled for the Rangers that they are getting some new content and function, its about time...

BUT

Forage eliminated because it isnt useful or used? Bad Bad for any of us who love to decorate! I use the foraged foods as table centerpieces and 'bowls of fruit' but most importantly foraged bait is your only way to start-up fishing from scratch! An I usually have an unlucky night and run out of chum bait too, and need to forage again! I make one or two fishtanks for people every single week, everyone loves them, and everyone should be able to get one in the future if they want one!

What about fishmeat for petstims too, I know thats got to be another concern (on another forum), but Please Please don't let us lose out ability to fish!!!

I'm worried the Devs working on Ranger may not even realize that fishing is vital to a petstim maker, but also a VERY desirable addition to our home decorating efforts!!

Help us please!

Forage is a scout skill, comes from survival 1 if I remember right.

Edit: Ignore me, I read it that forage was being removed from Ranger, rather than from the game. Good thing I double checked!

It'll probably become a random loot or something. Plus don't forget you can fillet fish to get chum bait, so once one bit of bait is in the game, it can beget countless more.

Helios gave an answer on the In Dev thread:

But...further points are :

I personally have never found any 'bait' in a lair, bugs yes but not 'bait'. I tried it last night, did find 'bugs' and it wouldnt let me bait a pole with them. I also ran out of chum before catching my first fish, and I started with 2 jars of 3 and 1 jar of 5 (bad night).

Right now, forage isnt dependent on a combat skill. 'Random loot' would be dependent on a combat skill, if even a low one. One more 'lessening' of the non-combatant's variety and usefulness.

If there will be a 'replacement' for bait for non-combatants (ie a 'craftable bait') this still doesn't address the loss of all the cool fruit and veggie loots that not only look great for house decoration, they are handy for CH to feed pets.

Storage is already an issue, I never 'stockpile' bait because its something I can readily replenish with /forage. Now I will feel forced to save ever jar of chum bait I get.

This neither applies to cities nor housing... but like the post above me says, after the changes are made, fishing bait will be found from searching lairs.

In case you have not noticed, this forum is where the Home Show is located. The potential loss of fish DIRECTLY effects the creation of aquariums, a feature of many homes decor throughout all the galaxies. If you had read my post, you would have seen that making aquariums was the focus of my concern. But, they have assured us that we will still get fish, and the DECORATIVE vegetables lost in forage removal can be bought from combatants who randomly loot them, if they bother to save and not delete them. So I guess this problem has been adequately addressed.

People tell me I'm overreacting and seeing conspiracies in shadows when I say that SOE is trying to squeeze all the noncombatants out of the game. And garbage like this keeps on happening.

I love how SWG is the peaceful community that the evil "SOE" government is trying to unfairly control and twist to it's own desires.... As if it wasn't it's own property to begin with!

Have no fear! Fishing isn't lost!

Instead of using the foraging skill, you will be able to find bait by searching lairs!
