We have done lot trades with folks on other servers to layout our town and add some nice buildings.I hope to GOD this does not include structures that are still being used and have other admins on them, because i know alot of malls whose original placers have gone the way of ol yeller and that are FULL of vendors. Would hate to see them disappear. If they vanish I can hear another MASSIVE SUCKING sound as even more folks QUIT and leave the game.

This is going to be one of the more touchy patches or publishes rolled out. Are the accounts you have lot traded with still active player accounts? If they are still active and the buildings are being utilized, hopefully you will be ok. Unfortunately the player base will have little to no input as to the parameters used for this purge. I support removing the auto-deduction format and go back to the maintenance expiration mode and let buildings, harvesters and factories go poof like the old days.

I recently lost 20 harvs to a deleted char on another server. I would not be suprised to see the purge do this to all lapsed chars, not just deleted ones.

Then I would make darn sure the players you did a cross server lot trade are either still active and or have not deleted their accounts.

It's never a good idea to use structures that belong to players that have cancelled because you have no guarantee on how long those structures will remain (and no reimbursement for things lost, either, since you do not own the structure).

This is the inherint problem with lot-trades as well, be it same-server or cross-server. Unless you maintain regular contact with the owner, you're opening yourself up to potential problems.

This is one of the major reasons the purge has not happend. They need to figure out all these special cases and determine how to handle them.

If I was to do this. I would do it in a phased manner. For vendors without owners or vendors in a house that has no owner...

1) No new items can be added. (An email to all admins of the vendor)

2) After a week, the vendor becomes unregistered and non searchable. (An email to all admins of the vendor)

3) After a week, no items can be bought from the vendor, admins can still retrieve the items. (An email to all admins of the vendor)

4) After a week (about 4 weeks total ) the vendor goes away. (An email to all admins of the vendor giving 24 hour notice)

if they just removed all the houses with empty maintenance pools and condemned houses....that would bypass this problem.....because any house or harvester you own from a lot trade usually has a bunch of maint from you sitting in it

Bingo. And whining about the fact that you have put any items you want to retain in the hands of people not paying SOE the $14.99 per month anymore is not going to be productive. Why should SOE waste server space and retain it for people that are no longer playing? Especially when this space can be used by people that ARE paying SOE.

Believe me, I am not a defender of SOE in many of their decisions (check my other posts...), but I do agree with their right to cater to their current subscribers, not former ones. I have been part of 2 player cities that ebbed and flowed and collapsed eventually. Just part of the cycle.

Why not have it get rid of inactive player's in game items in to the "bank" but leave anything with maintenace on the landscape. Obviously it's being used and if it ever becomes unused and the maintenance have it go away like a vendor. The inactive players houses alone will clear out TONS of room.

Khristen is so completely right.

Lot-trades are garbage and i've never supported cities that use this to their advantage and never will. Structures wether they be harvestors/factories/houses take up way too much land that eventually are left to sit there and rot. This makes gaming for "active" players a pain since these structures are usually flooding valuable land, good resource spawns, etc.

If I read it right these houses are going to be packed up to that x-players datapad.

It is stated that a house will not be able to be packed if it has a vender. All venders will have to be removed before a house can be packed up.

It is my understanding (though limited at times) that just houses were included in the "purge" using the house pack-up mode.

Please correct me if there is something stated by SOE that says different (not like that really makes a difference at times)

i hope the will just take off the condemmed structure for an brief moment. or pull/delete all condemmed structures.

as stated many of us have lot swaps. proberly with activa and inactive players. active should be safe. inactive depand on how long it been inactive. if i rmeber correctly. they will store data from inactive account for 6months. after that its unsure.

if they pull off all the inactive and condemmed structures many player will get pissed. yes for some may actually use inactive players stuff. but they will just redo the lot trade.

as i can se it soe will announce this(i hope) early enough so that player are able to "store" their stuff or try contact swap guys. lol

One thing that will be tough with the purge for my guild's city is that we have a cantina that we use for all our events. However, it's owned by another guildy who hasn't been on in quite awhile. We're not sure if he's quit or not. A few other guildies have been keeping the maintaince on it for now.
We're not doing it for free space, we're only doing it because we have no idea if he has quit or not. It'll be a rude awakening if it poofs on us.
