Hi Guys,

I can't seem to find anything about it anywhere, but I'd like to know whether Mayors, can lay down paving stones between structures to create roads/paths.

Thanks

No, I dont believe they can at the moment, but hey, how many times have we read politician is not a finished profession? There may very well be a patch in the future that allows for roads.

Well NPC cities dont have roads either. What looks like a road is really a planet specific texture under the built up radius/area of a npc city. At best id imagine we get a similiar texture. What cheeses me is i choose out city spot in part due to the creative possibbilities....bhut it appears i cant add bridges between the plateus or staircases =( hehe

I just realised this. Planets like Corellia are heavily built up. Yet there are no (or rather, few) roads.

Where are the roads? Where's the costal road from Coronet to Tyrenia?

I get that there are shuttles and stuff, but it would make sense, surely, for some roads to still be around, even if they're just little tracks. Maybe there could be roads devoid of big critters, but that have stuff like "highwaymen" on them? Maybe the odd "cantina" in the middle of nowhere, as a kinda diner sort of thing?

Just a thought.

My understanding is that roads would put unneccessary burdens on loading the servers. Roads could cover way more land than current structures do. The NPC cities are hard coded into the game, where as player cities and player structures are loaded from memory.

I would've thought that a few hard-coded roads between the NPC cities wouldn't be too much. There's a random road near Wayfar, and theres the odd bridge here and there in random places...but they don't seem to lead anywhere.

I'm not talking about roads to player cities...just between the NPC ones.

There actually are remnants of roads near Keren. At least I think they're roads. They're brick.

There have been several threads on roads in the past. Take a lookat them for some of the pros and cons.

I personally think "hard-coded" roads on all civilized worlds between NPC cities is a great idea. But if I hear one more "but our vehicles don't have wheels!" arguments against roads, I'll send over an enraged Wookiee to pull someones arm out of their sockets...

...that is if he can get there on time in his speeder because of all the ravines, rocks, and trees he has to smash into to get there....

There's an old road leading out of Deeja Peak. I've followed it before and it wound up ending in the middle of the forest.

There should be hard coded roads between the major cities. People could follow these when not using the shuttles. Player cities could build up next to them, and maybe the occasional npc could stroll down them and give missions.

How many vehicles have you seen in this game? Other than shuttles, starships and our speeders, there are no vehicles. What's the point of roads if no one uses them?
