Thread: Am I Going to Lose My Home?

Sadly, my in-game husband has decided not to renew his account which is due to expire within the next couple of days. He has said his goodbyes and logged off for the last time. Although he left me everything, I fear what could happen to our house should a purge sweep through the system. I cannot declare residency because I'm not the owner. My guildmates are advising me to clear out anything worth of value and move into my own home. As painful as it is to do that at this point, I fear losing my stuff.

Is this the appropriate thing to do?

as long as he dont delete the char from the server, you wont loose anything. SOE do actually guarentee(not sure if its spelled right lol) that char will be safe from the day you cancel you account and 6month ahead, if they were to purge.

after this date you can loose it if they purge.

but to be safe. i would suggest what your guild says, move out

Thanks for the input. I've already begun to move everything out. I know that SOE has been kicking around this "purge" idea for a long time and speculation suggests that it might never happen. Nonetheless, I'd rather not take any chances and protect my assets now, when I have the opportunity.

Well if his account is still active, could he maybe transfer the structure to you before the subcription is gone? That should solve the problem.

I thought of that, too. As it stands, I only have one lot remaining to my character. At the same time, however, he's pretty much stated that he's gone and I don't foresee him logging back in for anything else. He's already tipped me his credits, left his ship and everything else he owned in the game.

Being a master Archi, I can easily build me a new house. I can also clean out a few other shared lots that we had to give me more room for expansion.

Thanks for your ideas.

Have you used the /transferstructure command?

He would need to be in the game though. He targets you and enters the /transferstructure command and you should take ownership of it...

The *only* problem with this is he most likely wouldn't be available to /transferstructure...

Now, once the time comes when all the de-activated accounts that haven't been active for 6 months get purged...I think those on the admin list should get an option to have the house automatically transfered to their lots because the person has been inactive for such a length of time.

It could be like how the guild voting system works, if the owner of a house hasn't logged in for 6 months (or however old an inactive account has to be to get wiped), then the game will put the house's status on hold until a vote is decided amongst the surviving administrators of the house; they'll decide and vote on who gets it.

TH will there be alot of notice for this? Atleast 2 weeks, because I have some stuff stored in my friends house that doesn't play no more and I would reactivate his account to keep it alive longer.

I'm just afraid that one night tiggs or yourself will annouce "Whats on Deck: Character Building Purge!" the night before..

That´s not the problem tho, most ppl use other peoples lots cause they don´t have enough.Like crafters need lots of lots for all their harvesters and factories and stuff. If they could use everything on their account there would be no need for other ppl lots, but since there is need for more lots from other ppl the transfer structure is no real solution to their problems.

Thats an awesome idea, especially its been done for PA halls... and there is a lot of guild or city structures (for pretty much every guild on all servers) that are on lots of people no longer playing which would be very tough to lose.

There is a need in regards to guilds and cities. My city has a cantina which was owned by an entertainer, who we havent seen for months (just dissappeared without warning after her computer got fried)...it would be nice if the decorations or monetary cost of that town structure not be put to waste =/. Or even for that matter, guild storage houses under folks who are long gone. Many times people just leave the game, having something that's like a last will and testament would be nice (where admins would be executors of their estate, or something like that)

A system that could allow admin to save condemned houses or houses that are properlly maintained but will poof because the owner hasn't been seen for months would benefit both sides.
