Thread: Am I Going to Lose My Home?

"That´s not the problem tho, most ppl use other peoples lots cause they don´t have enough. Like crafters need lots of lots for all their harvesters and factories and stuff. If they could use everything on their account there would be no need for other ppl lots, but since there is need for more lots from other ppl the transfer structure is no real solution to their problems."
There is a need in regards to guilds and cities. My city has a cantina which was owned by an entertainer, who we havent seen for months (just dissappeared without warning after her computer got fried)...it would be nice if the decorations or monetary cost of that town structure not be put to waste =/. Or even for that matter, guild storage houses under folks who are long gone. Many times people just leave the game, having something that's like a last will and testament would be nice (where admins would be executors of their estate, or something like that)
A system that could allow admin to save condemned houses or houses that are properlly maintained but will poof because the owner hasn't been seen for months would benefit both sides.
I never said there is no need for it, for guild/cities houses there is indeed a big need for it, i agree. But i still think the biggest issue is that crafters are using other ppls lots cause they don´t have enough, and looking at your marked statement i guess you will agree with me there. To run a proper business as a crafter you simply need more then 10 lots. How about adding additional lots to crafter skill boxes? Like another 5-10 lots for each mastered crafter profession. Or even put them into the crafter trees, and not only limit them to master boxes. 1 or 2 lots per tree and another 2-3 for master.
It would be nice to design cities as intended and get rid of so much that will never be returned to.

I thought of that, too. As it stands, I only have one lot remaining to my character. At the same time, however, he's pretty much stated that he's gone and I don't foresee him logging back in for anything else. He's already tipped me his credits, left his ship and everything else he owned in the game.
Being a master Archi, I can easily build me a new house. I can also clean out a few other shared lots that we had to give me more room for expansion.
Thanks for your ideas.
Have you used the /transferstructure command?
He would need to be in the game though. He targets you and enters the /transferstructure command and you should take ownership of it...
Make *sure* that you add the new owner's name to the admin list *before* you /transferstructure. There's a nasty bug out that will make the new owner unable to add new names to the list if the new owner was not on admin before the transfer.

I had always thought, that if someone had canceled their subscription but didn't delete the character, their harvesters/houses etc would vanish once they ran out of maintance and decayed. Was I wrong about this?
A few publishes ago they made it so once a structure runs out of its maintanence pool, it will auto-drain from the bank of the owner.
Once the bank is empty the building is condemned and no one may enter it until the owner enters the structure and pays the fees on it.
Hopefully the advanced notice will be more than currently given for vanishing vendors. (ie. none)

TH will there be alot of notice for this? Atleast 2 weeks, because I have some stuff stored in my friends house that doesn't play no more and I would reactivate his account to keep it alive longer.
I'm just afraid that one night tiggs or yourself will annouce "Whats on Deck: Character Building Purge!" the night before..
Yes, we will give you advanced notice

When the actual purge does happen, can you ask the devs to code in some party music as the buildings vanish?

This is a little misleading.
Whom are you going to give the notice to? The actualowner of the house or anyone that has Admin rights?
Because if the noticifcation is to the "owner" then he will not be getting notification. Aslo, if the "notification" is via these fourms (that few visit) then a good percentage of players will also not be getting noticifed.
So, can you explain what "noticifcation"means and how it will be done?

Just to be clear, the purge affects people whose billing accounts (not characters) are inactive for 6 months or longer. This has been defined by the Devs in the past as meaning players whose accounts have not been paid on in the previous 6 months. It has nothing to do with whether you have played, only whether you have paid. If this criteria has changed, I would hope TH would chime in on this thread (again) and let us know.
I would think that a notice for the purge would be best accomplished this way:
1) Send an email to every Station account email.
2) Post the notice in the Forums under "Announcements"
3) Post the notice in the Launchpad.
4) Post the notice in the "loading screen" where we usually see some RP story or message regarding upcoming changes.
The notice should be posted a minimum of 2 weeks in advance, and should remain posted until the daythe purge is complete. This should be plenty of time (and notice) for friends and neighbors to get ahold of former players.
Remember, the onus is on us (the players) to keep our accounts up-to-date. Sony is under no obligation to continue providing service to players who have not paid. It is also not up to Sony to track down every player who has not paid in 6 months (or longer) to see if they might want to come back and play someday. Sony provides a pay-for-play service. Simply put, the purge is intended to free the system of data which is not being paid for. If your game experience is somehow tied to this data (your stuff is stored in someone else's house, the guild cantina is owned by someone else, etc.) then you are taking a huge risk and it is YOUR responsibility (not Sony's) to try and resolve the situation.
If you are relying on a player who has not paid in 6+ months (or even a player you haven't seen in 6+ months) I would strongly recommend that you either get ahold of them or make other arrangements for your stuff NOW rather than waiting for the purge announcements. You will be saving yourself a lot of heartache later.
And yes, I was military too. I understand about 6+ month deployments. Military members have many options (including paying in advance, using monthly billing on a credit card, etc.) if the game is THAT important to them. That said, their military obligationshould not be anyone else's excuse. Ifa military member has control/influence over your game, make absolutely sure that their account is paid up for the duration of their deployment or makearrangements to transfer ownership/admin/etc. ahead of time.
On a related note, if you have a friend in the military, send them an email orsnail-mail NOW to see ifthere account is being paid while they are deployed or to see if you can help them keep their billing up-to-date. Given the limited access to regular mail and email that many deployed troops have, it is better to have this stuff worked out BEFORE a purge announcement is made.
Personally, I don't need a purge announcement to figure out that keeping my stuff in a house owned by a player I haven't seen or heard from in 6+ months is a bad idea. When it comes right down to it, if the game is THAT important to you , why would you entrust your stuff to someone you have had absolutely zero contact with? If you, your city, or your guild has items with are controlled, held, and/or owned by a player who has been absent and incommunicado for 6+ months, err on the side of caution. Assume that their account is not paid up and that they will not be coming back. Start working NOW to reclaim your property and move it to a safer location. Start working NOW to transfer ownership and admin rights. Contact Sony NOW to see if they can assist you. Why wait until thelast minute to try and put youraffairs in order? Usually, the last minute ends up being too late...
