Yay! One of my least favorite structures was condemned today. A structure that is located in an inconvenient spot. A structure that has nothing but about 100 fire crackers in it. Now, all I have to do is wait another six months, and that eye-sore, along with it's fire crackersare history WEEEE!

Think of it. In just six short months, it's gone That's perfect...a perfect rule. yes. gone. six months...gone...

6 months? That's only if they actually do a player wipe.

Yes - If I have understand right condemned houses are NOT deleted. It will stay there forever or until wipe.

When house is condemned it means that owner's bank account is empty. Owner can still enter to house, if she have enough money to pay repair cost. House is not deleted.

Update Notes: January 25, 2005 - Publish 12.1:

All maintenance fees will automatically attempt to deduct from Bank accounts after the maintenance pool has been depleted. Once a structure reaches 0 hitpoints, it will flag itself as condemned instead of deleting itself. Condemned houses are not enterable, and all other structures are not usable. To uncondemn a house, simply enter it with enough money in the bank to pay the repair cost. To uncondemn all other structures, use them with enough money in the bank to pay the costs.

Gratz! You now have own ghost house.

To get rid of that nasty condemned tag, anyone can just click on the building (not housing) and type /paymaintenance 200000 or whatever and wow it springs back to life, no more tiresome houses going bang when a player has not logged on for several months and all their money is gone.

Only someone on the admin list should be able to pay maintenance on a structure. If it's happening otherwise it is most definitely a bug to be reported.

There have been many threads protesting this condemned housing issue, and SOE has addressed not one of them...not a single one.

Today I came across a field of miners, probably 50-60 of them, and guess what...all of them....condemned. Their owner probably left game,no money in bank, mostly likely these are on a lot trade agreement or something. Either way this whole area is unusable by anyone who is still paying to play.

I'dreally like to know what was wrong with the way it was before, and why SOE felt a need to change it. Structures SHOULD poof once they run out of maint, and reach zero decay, for what reason other than to cater to those people who quit the game shouldwe have a "condemned" housing feature??? It does not help anyone, it is cluttering up the servers with abandonedstructures, causing lag, congestion, and hindering the gameplay of those people who are still actually here PAYING to PLAY.

Personally I don't give two hoots about the fella that cancelled his account, or hasn't played in month's, thats his deal. If he/she is gonna leave the game, why should they expect to have all structures there whenever they feel ready to return? SOE needs to stop catering to these people, and start catering to those who actually still PAY TO PLAY.

I see zero reason for this "condemned" feature, and only see negative issues as a result of it. Seriously what is positive about it? If you quit game come back in 6 months, all your money is gone from your bank, you have no money to pay the maint on these things, your lots are tied up until you can drum up the money, so there they sit. Nobody wins, not the owner, and not the people who could have been using the realestate these dead structures are taking up

Devs, CSR's, powers that be, and anyone else, if you wish to see what I'm talking about, take a trip to Chilastra, on Naboo in the vicinity of -3437 -195 . It's a disgrace, and a very very good example why "condemned" structures DOESN'T WORK!

Folks, if you want less clutter on your servers, we have to speak up about this, and not let it be ignored.

Here is another thread about this issue:

They should poof when no money is in the maintenance pool....why did SOE ever change that? It seemed to work great for getting rid of those pesty houses.

They probably did this as an incentive for inactive people to come back to the game. Who wants to to come back to the game and find all their stuff has gone?

However,I agree with many of the posts here, the Devs should be catering for people who are playing/paying NOW, not chasing thepotential income from returnees.

I made a suggestion some time back, that after a certian amount of time an inactive players items and buildings are packed up and placed in a vault, which they can access if they return.

All this stuff is already taking up database space, so does it matter where or what form that database is?

Doing this then free's up dead land, dead city space etc for active players.

I was going to make a post and sugest this very thing. This houseing situation is getting way out of controll. SOE how about it? How about getting all of these dead inactive accounts, with all of there crap littering our landscape, out of the money paying active players way!!!!!

It has also been said OVER & OVER again that they are waiting on the CU and the release of ROTW. As those two items (mainly the CU) are in SOE eye's items that will bring people back to the game. So we all will have to wait a couple of months AFTER the CU for server clean ups to happen until then there is no reason to keep hitting this horse, the noodle is limp enough. Sorry just my 1cent the other 9cents will be waiting till after the CU

It has been my experience that if you "wait" and then speak up, nothing gets done, there is no harm in speaking up NOW, and continue to speak up until changes are made, If everyone is quiet and says nothing, nothing will ever get done.

The whole deal about waiting until after theCU and the next expansion doesn't fly with me, if there are current issues, then speak up about them, if they don't get to it right away because they are working on something else, it doesn't matter. The more you speak up now, and the longer you speak up about it the more priority the issue will get. Once that CU and expansion are released then they will be working on all the bugs that will come with it, do we wait a nother several months while they work out those bugs before this issue is addressed? Come on be realistic, current issues need to be worked on CURRENTLY, not "whenever", cause whenever will always get bumped for something else. If people aren't complaining the issue will not get priority, and other stuff will ALWAYS take precidence.

If it's annoying you because we are speaking up now instead of later, don't read the threads....

Whoever decided this was a good idea obviously didnt consider that most people who might come back already put 3 years maint into their buildings...
