It was not offical but hey ok lets forget that the CU may bring back some people to the game, Im at work and I forgot to add the word may to that. Everyone is on a kick of that city has no one in it I want that rank. Instead of flooding this forum with kill the ghost towns why not wait till the CU hits then see if they will do server clean up.
So with that lets get rid of anybody's house who "we" have not seen on. Infact I think that maybe they should up root all houses and at server restart may 1,2005 there shall be a race to place our houses and cities.

The system I suggested above would work by checking when the account was cancelled, and pack the stuff away no matter how much maintenance they had placed into their buildings.

If someone is quitting, and purposely puts lots of maintence into their buildings, then they are in effect 'griefing'the active player base.

I like your 'Vault' idea. Seems like a win-win for all.

Griefing the whole player base? You sound like a poster awhile back who complained that people were griefing him by not leaving enough room to place his harvesters when he got to spawn late for real life reasons.

I understand what was meant by "griefing" it was not meant literally, griefing is deliberate acts against people to cause them grief or harass them. However, in a round about way, a field of 50-60 condemned miners does cause grief to players who are still here in game paying to play. Let's say those comdemned miners were sitting on a 90% spawn of the best steel ever spawned to date. That would rather suck wouldn't it? Or how about if that field of condemmed miners was sitting on the boundaries of a class 3 city and they got their rank 4 update, now they can't spread out with their own housing ect, because said field of miners is taking up a ton of space, and not even contributing via taxes, cause they are comdemned. Grifing players? yes, they ceratinly are, even if it's unintentional...

You know, if I don't pay the rent, I get booted right away. Not next month or year, but that week.

That's all.

That field is not griefing. You have no rights to any piece of land. It's always first come, first serve.Again the same thing with the level 3 city. You don't own the land you're on and you don't own the land around you.

If this your view then people whoare still playing andset up structures before you are griefing as well. Consider the same scenario with an active field of 50 static florals on a 90% spawn of the best steel. Or a pre-existing factory farm and a someone starts a city nearby who cries foul when they realize that they didn't plan their city well and the factories now block their development.

Your stance is ridiculous.

Oh please, don't be so silly, everyone knows what I meant, a field of condemmed miners is causeing paying players grief. I never claimed to own the land, or have any personla claim to it, that's hilarious. The point is the CONDEMNED structures aren't doing anyone any good, and those people who are still here paying to play this game shouldn't have to deal with them.

If the structures are owned by a paying player base and their maint is being payed this isn't even and issue, so your example is seriously flawed. If you can't understand the need to have all these comdemmed structrues removed for the betterment of the game, then you have your head in the sand.

Don;t take the word "griefing" so literally and maybe you will understand what we are trying to do here in getting SOE to get rid of all these condemmed structures.

I think we can all agree that condemned structures shouldn't 'float' for as long as they do. A structure should only be allowed to exist in condemned status for so long, then "POOF!", gone. I say two weeks in condemened status (maybe as short as one) and get rid of it.

Right now, these structures are expected to be around for up to six months, or until a purge is done. Lame.

Where is that 6 month coming from?

Condemned houses are not delete after 6 month. Only purge will delete them if there is going to be another purge someday....

It comes from CSRs who don't know better and say stuff to get me off their backs

They say, "Wait 6 months...", then hope that I quit in 2 months. heehee
