Nope, they are maintained up until an account purge takes place. This has yet to happen

Ithink its easily solvable.

Give the mayor of the cityan option within the city terminal that after 180 days "6months" of no login by a player, the mayor has the option to pack up that players house which will then automatically be stored in the said players datapad until their acct. is forever gone or they come back to play...Also that playercannot unpack thier house if they have back fees, until they are paid off.

Sounds simple to me!

just add one little simple mayoroption - since we have house pack-up now, it seems this would be easy and fair...

Call me evil...

6 months is WAY too long.

1 week of a building/harvester being condemed... it is packed up.

Canceled account? 7 days and then packed up, to give the city Mayor notice to they can make plans.

The packed up buildings can stay as long as SOE wants in order to entice people to come back.

I endorse the other ideas such as a pop-up window like the respecwindow.

If a city does not have enough players to keep a shuttleport, then that cityshould no longer have one. The fairness factor should be towards the active and paying customers, not the other way around.

A mayor should also be able to 'evict' if a person has a home in the town and is no longer a resident. (Left up the the discretion of the mayor.) They should be given 7 days notice for the eviction (pop-up window nagging them constantly), and if they do not become a resident (and stay one) then their building is packed up.

How to determine if they are active? If they have voted once in the past election cycle, they are active.

The city I currently live in is quickly becoming a ghost town. Poor planning by the first (and now inactive) Mayormeans we are unable to expand. We have far too many inactive players, and if their multiple and large houses were packed up, our city might stand a chance. But alas...

Some have contemplated starting a new city. Unfortunately the 'perfect' sites we found have ghost towns too close so we cannot drop a City Hall.

i would say that auto pack in to the datapad should be after max 3 month, if the player havent loged on it that time.

Harvesters should be destroyed when it ran out of money... like in the old days

For canceled accounts the house should be auto packed in to the datapad with in a month

Wellcome to NGE!! The game you can play with no brain at all

This would be the one upgrade that would positivly affect EVERY player in the game. Dont hold your breath - theyre busy with the new red bug mount.

First they came for the Jedi and I did not speak out because I was not a Jedi.
Then they came for the Bounty Hunters and I did not speak out because I was not a Bounty Hunter.
Then they came for the crafters and I did not speak out because I was not a crafter.
Then they came for me and there was no one left to speak out for me.

That's not evil. It's logical. It makes sense. Why cater to the non-paying customers THAT WILL NEVER COME BACK.

What are you doing bringing logic in here!

When I started the game about 20 months ago, the game system made you well aware of the fact that if you dont pay your maintenance for your house/structure your outta luck and your stuff and your house would eventually decay into nothingness. I lost a small house as a noob, but at the same time I knew that would happen because it was part of the game. What has happend is that SOE wants to baby everyone and treat us all like children who cant figure out what structure maintenance is for.....its so this problem were having dosent happen.....If they had not dumbed down the game for /cryers then all these flaming harvestors and condemed factories/houses would have disapeared long ago. Your job as a player, is structure maint upkeep, if you cant do that you dont deserve any structures and should keep your stuff in the bank.

every couple weeks the game getts a little more wattered down so all the 8 year olds dont leave.

im not flaming, this is just the way it is

I agree with you on that MayorCozmic, but SOE clearly broke a good part of the game here, and I think they should fix it. And at the moment I think it is better to fix it like the startpost of this threat suggested, rather then turning the old system of structural decay on.

I think the biggest issue with the mayoral power over housing is that we can "revoke citizenship" but not have anyway to remove that person from the city, and make room for a new citizen to take their place...giving mayors the ability to declare a house to be autpacked...or seize condemed assets...(for deletedaccount characters housesthat cannot be packed)..that is real politics, just take a drive through the city's in real life, you see it everywhere. and as for grounds for corruption or greifing.....well, that's all BS...think about it, the mayor is probably the guildleader or a guildleader in that city.....if say, I kicked you from guild, andrevoked your citizenship......i should damn well be able to make you pack your s*** and leave!

Turn decay back on.

Turn maintenance back on.

Remove cancelled structures after 30 days.

Problem solved.

This is the one change that the devs could do that would positively affect every player in the game.

I can't understand why it isn't a priority.
