PlayerStructures

  • All maintenance fees will automatically attempt to deduct from Bank accounts after the maintenance pool has been depleted. Once a structure reaches 0 hitpoints, it will flag itself as condemned instead of deleting itself. Condemned houses are not enterable, and all other structures are not usable. To uncondemn a house, simply enter it with enough money in the bank to pay the repair cost. To uncondemn all other structures, use them with enough money in the bank to pay the costs.

Houses will no longer decay and leave the city so we will not be able to strive and keep active cities

We won't lose citizens, but a player city with no active people does not help up, it kills us

not only that, the 'maitanance' cycle is lowered from 30 to two minutes, making structres cost even more...if i remember..i palced a small naboo house: 240 creds/houri understand people make alot of money in game, but for a small HOUSE thats outrageous..(unless the changed it back that is)

That is an excellent idea, allowing the mayor to "demolish" houses that are no longer in use.
Do note, though, that to make this fair for all (so a mayor doesn't abuse power comptetely), when a house with items inside is demolished, a crate will spawn in front of the house-zone until the house's owner will come by and pick up ALL his items - within a month's time.
The crate will automatically move aside for any new buildings placed (ie, a PA hall is placed, and the crate will move to the edge of the building).

Excellent idea - I hope it will be seen and considered!

My whole point is this: This change to maintenance really shouldn't affect your city if your run it properly. As mayor you have a responsibility to know your citizens. If you just let any old person come in and set their roots you will have to live with the consequences.

Not true. You never know what RL is going to throw at one of your residents. For example. In the early stages of my town we had a pretty basic layout. as the town began to grow, due to the hills around my town we felt that a layout change was needed. As we were moving houses two of our residents gave me admin and left the game. One gouy didn't have time for SWG anymore and the other one went to WoW. There was NO WAY for me as a mayor to have predicted that. Both people are long time SWG players and had every intention on staying.

So now I am left with two houses that throw off the entire layout of the town. A layout that was drawn up to both organize and maximize the use of our limited space. Now it seems we are stuck with both houses.

Now let's say we have residents who have homes in the perfect locations but decide to leave the game or have to leave the game for whatever reason. And let's say that person wasn't able to redeed their house. Now I have a house, although neatly tucked into my layout, that will never go away, thus taking up space for new residents. Sure it's nice to have that person declared forever, but nobody wants to be the mayor of a ghost town.

This change, which went live today, will GREATLY affect cities.

Mayors need a "bulldoze" button. At the very least be able to redeed the house and have all of the items and the deed go into the residents saftey deposit box.

We recnetly had a guildy completely leave the game because of a silly mixup about not paying maintanence and his whole inventory of metals was gone. We lost a great crafter, SOE lost a paying customer.

I hope that after a building is condemned it would later disappear or the mayor could demolish it. Seems like a good idea to give the mayor the power to demolish condemed buildings.

You can't just remove people's houses thats just unfair. Sorry if someone's house is in the way - I have that problem too - but you can't just destroy/redeed their house even if none of their stuff gets lost.

I'm a little upset that this maintenance system went live today - I think it's complete rubbish. However I don't agree with any of the "don't like where that house is... I'm gonna blow it up" ideas.

Nobody is talking about blowing up houses on a whim or just because you don't like where it is. What I personally am talking about is when one of my residents comes up to me and says "I'm leaving the game for good. I put you on admin, I'm never coming back, do what you want with the house." It's not like I'm dislocating people who are actually living and playing in my city.

And if that house is in the way of my city growing, and the owner hasn't played for 3 months or has said he or she is quiting, you better believe I am going to blow it up or re-deed it or something. Or as per the old system, at least wait around for it to go poof on it's own.

Err, um... Pappi. Can we panic now? The patch notes for In Live list the housing change. Is this just a problem with the patch notes or is it really going to happen.

Question...: Why can't mayors have the right to remove credits from the struture like guild admin's can do on guild halls?
Mayors could "withdrawl maintenance fees" from a structure of players who left the gameand the credits would be deposited into the owners bank who has claimed residence. Does anyone think this would be a valid idea?

If someone has the time to tell you they are leaving the game and goes through the effort of putting you on the house admin they can just as easily take the house down. Which comes back to what I was saying earlier... Control who lives in your city and you should be fine. In our city, everyone knows at least one other resident IRL. And that is the way it will continue to go. This way if there is ever a problem someone can get a hold of them no matter what. About the only thing that would mess up my system is RL death, and how often does that actually happen?

As an aside, I remember reading (somewhere around here) that this whole Maintenance Upgrade was the initial step in character purging. Can anyone confirm that? And if so, how will it all work? I, for one, am really looking forward to this purge. I am very curious to see how many of the metropolises and cities are still at that level when the deadwood is yanked.

Does anyone know if everyone on admin cand repair a condemned house, or is it limited to the owner?

I posted this in the bug thread but I thought here would do also...what about city structures?

A mayor leaves the game and abandons the city..the sturcutures don't "poof" and we're left with a City Hall no one can enter to run against to take over.

You now have a dead city applying towards the planetary cap?

Thoughts?

Actually, the City Hall is open to any Citizen. Citizens can not be banned. There is no admin list for the City Hall either.

I was meaning if the maintanace went to 0 on a City Hall-no one could enter it because it would be condemned and only the owner can pay maintanace on it-correct or would the new patch give someone the chance to make a treasury deposit for a city structure?
