Thread: Let us change house wall and carpet colors from the managment terms.

It would be sooo, much cheaper to change the floor coverings instead of having to buy the loot carpets. Kinda hard to decorate a house when it is uber expensive for a carpet.
Also, for houses I think there should be a texture kit for the exterior. Maybe like 2-4 choices, nothing to fancy. But kinda like the droid/vehicle customizations for all the houses except for Tatooine type. Those would have for example ...a "worn exterior", "fresh", "antique", "camo netting". Something along those lines. Cuz you really cant paint sand all that well.
Although now that I think of it. I can get more of a premium on houses I decorate if I have the rugs. And if it gets changed... most people wont notice and I can continue to charge a high rate.. CUZ im evil ![]()
ok...maybe I wouldnt gouge them

That's how Ultima Online does housing...you get a dirt plot and foundation, and you build your own. OR, you can choose a prefab from a number of styles. While a cool idea, implementation is everything. For example, in UO, you need to empty the house before you customize it (or let it be emptied into the "Moving Crate"). If you wanna remove one interior wall, you have to set up your whole house again! Yikes! Also, you get the people thatjust HAVEto use every single tile in the game on their house, resulting in some spectacularly ugly structures that wind up right next door to you. And all the people who paint their name in tiles on the roof. It's a mess.
I really like the idea of the customization kits. Corellia houses are just too much like trailors to me. Leave the outsides alone, though. It's like deed-restricted communities where you are limited to what you can do to the outside. Bad taste comes in many many forms. Let's try and keep it on the INSIDE. ![]()
The loot rugs take up a storage spot in the house. I don't put down rugs because, though I really like them, I've got a BIG storage crunch always.

I have always loved the idea of being able to customize a house, but my thought was a bit different. I would think that players should have a permission they can set, or an acceptance window that would allow an IMAGE designer to alter the colours. As it stands IDs have lost their most profitable aspect to their business (stat migration) and are now few and far between. Giving them the ability to colour houses (think title interior decorator) and possibly even furniture, would make that class more useful a a whole.
There are already players that love to do nothing but set up interiors of other's houses. Image designers have an interface that allows both parties to agree on the changes before they actually take place, I don't think it would be so hard to incorporate that..... would it? (definately NOT a programmer here).
Architecs and Artisans already have well defined roles in the game. I think to incorporate many of the more social skills in more social activities (the colour of your house isn't really anything but social is it?) would only make sense. And I would think that trying to get a crafter to your house to paint your walls might be hard to do. Although craftable kits would work.
