I'm surprised that the Naboo footprint was increased while the Corellian and Generic footprints were not. I believe all these types were on a 4x3 footprint, the same as a small house, while the Tatooine medium was on a 5x4 footprint, as stated above. I know from personal experience that medium Corellian and Generic houses were usedintentionally as walls as well.
I don't think it was possible to easily change the house graphics to allow an alley between houses. It seems a bit unfair to make the Naboo housefootprint larger than the Tatooine medium. I don't like the way the changes were made without discussion with and preparationof the affected player community, if that is really the way it happened.
A convention is unlikely to restore the prior state of affairs, but may be effective in prompting some compensatory changes. Perhaps its immediate effect will bemaking medium house footprints the same across the board. Perhaps there is a possibility of transferring structure deeds in affected cities to a "city housing stock" to avoid some disruption with houses that are already placed.
Maybe this is the right time to bring up some ideas for new house styles, possibly a set of compact-footprint 2-story mediums thatare intended as row-style town-houses. Such structuresshould only be placeable in player city limits. Will this address the wall-exploit issue, or will it also be necessary to add alleys between the structures?
Perhaps footprints for houses should be variable; mayors would be able to zone dense placement regionsin planned city blocks, but all other locales would require full footprint usage. City blocks would be limited in size, perhaps to 25x25. This would require an in-game city planning tool, and a city plan as part of the city accessible through the city terminal.
