I completely agree with you... 
What I try to pass on to our citizens (especially when they are new to the game) is to not become one of those l33t win-at-all-cost types - and thankfully it works nicely for most of them...

lol - I had a whole hunting group on board of my yacht on the weekend - it was so nice to hear all the "oohs" and "aahs" when they kept running up and down the stair...
And yes, I do enjoy too to show them that SWG does not have to be a "race" - show them how even the little quests can give them very cool things - like for example the loudspeakers - boy, was I chuffed when I got those way back then...

Yes, it is a huge loudspeaker that can be placed as a decoration in your house - the quest is given by "a criminal" at the Mining Outpost on Dantooine... I have two of them and they are standing left and right on the stage of our cantina...

Sweet! I may have to obtain a couple for my 'stage' on my yacht. I still havent found where to get a nalaghorn yet either.

Hurrah! Thanks for that! Now I've nearly completed the yacht. I just have to get that rare gong I've seen...and maybe a rug
I am anRPer you see, and my smuggler is posing as a rich Merchant - hence the luxury yacht. I plan to have parties!
