If it really bothers you, can restart your town elsewhere.

I have found that the best thing is to not let it bother you (or at least, dont let that person know it bothers you). If you get rude and start demanding them to leave, that will make them want to stay even longer.

I had a simliar issue with 2 harvesters that were placed right outside our city shortly after we formed. It took us about 4 months to get to "city" status. It also took that person 4 months to move the harvesters. They "claimed" they were sitting on an awesome spawn. A spawn that lasted 4+ months... haha

In the end,he wasa member of a guild that we used to co-exist with in another city. Apparently he still had some hard feelings towards us leaving that city :/

you say your city is out in the middle of nowhere?
Just /cityban the guy and he'll never be able to use your city's resources to his advantage.

Your city is imperial and you think he's rebel?
If he refuses to leave and negotiations have failed, just place covert faction scanners and minefields and/or turrets around his house.
Be careful not to physically prevent him from entering the house, just make it a pain to enter or leave his house alive.

Don't forget to register your city as Imperial

Dont judge the other guy, even if in an enemy faction. i had a friend in another game in a faction. We deceided to go hunt in an area that I have never been to before and in truth would never have seen if not for him. Anyway another player in the other faction came along. my friend attempted to avoid a fight with the guy. But im sure he, just as you, didnt trust anyone. After this guys death, my friend handed me the guys armor and weapons. he then res'd the guy and healed him.

Needless to say the guy was surprised to see this enemy doing what he did, for it never happened to him before. After a short chat, my friend indicated for me to return the guys property. My friend had explained that he was taking me hunting and was not trying to fight or wanting to fight at that moment, atleast not with another player. Before we left, the guy gave me a weapon that we was going to get from the mob that we was going to visit. Not high quality but decent. Everyone went on their way happy.

So never think, even if the person is on wrong side, that all they want to do is to kill you. Heck, even if he is a rebel, he may be without a guild and may even switch sides, and may even consider going jedi. If not right away maybe at a later time.

Mayors should have to invite players to be citizens, rather than people just being able to reside where they want. Then at least unwanted people like this could be citybanned, and wont get voting rights.

The same thing happened to my city but it was a case of 30 or so houses put on border intentionally...I didnt let the city expand as they were a griefing guild, and city died.

If the City expands to include that house, and they declare residence there, you cannot City Ban them... it is impossible to City Ban a resident. I'm not sure how it would work if you City Banned them BEFORE they became a resident and then the City expands to include them as a resident...

Lots of things to do, must wont work though. Talk to him, hope the city grows and you could tax him into seing that its not worth it (least likely to have an impact on most folks) you could use constructive grief by placing special town goodies *BY* his door, not trying to lock him out. Name the items something like "please move your home, your blocking our cantina" or what not.

But to be honest here, this is something you can either roll with and get used to as mayor, or you can let ruin you time. Most of the things youre going to want to do will fail from you plan and have to be adjusted. Sad but true. So if you cant work something out with the homes, youll need to roll out plan b, and prep plan c and d as well.

Well since you banned him for just entering your city. I sense hard times ahead for you.
Next time dont react so aggressive.

hes reb right?

Drop a large sf outpost with large tower turrets in front of his door, that should keep the rats away for a while.

and if hes a paddy, add a bh terminal in the cityand recruitt some to build right next to him. Eventually he will reconsider messing with you.

It's situations like this that make me think that it would be simpler if city placement required a metropolis-sized clear zone rather than just an outpost-sized one. That way it would also be impossible for "outsiders" to place structures within the metropolis radius of the city, allowing it to grow without worrying about unwelcome obstacles.

I do think that SOE should respond to issues like this. This is just one reason why mayors should have the right to condem structures in their cities. I know lots of people cry foul. It will be abused. But how about having the process to condem a structure last like 2 or 3 months.

Try this on

A mayor can condem any structure in the city.

When this happens the structure is marked somehow as "Condemed by Mayor".

The owner will get an email on a regular basis telling them it is condemed by the Mayor.

Nomore maintaince can be added to the structure.

The structure will not take credits from the players bank account to keep standing.

If the structure has more credits in it then a 3 month supply then the rest of the credits will be transfered to the players bank account.

If the tax rate changes the building is immune to pay higher taxes as a way to make the 3 months shorter.

A Mayor can remove the "condemed" status from a structure.

This should give the person ample time to move the structure and sufficent notice to do so. Also it provides the owner the oppertunity to vote against the mayor a few timesand maybe get a mayor in that will remove the condemed status.

This way Mayor has some power to control their town and to clean up old structures as well so they can do some city planning.
