Thread: please fix /cityban and bring back /citywarn

It wasn't as much a issue with POI's as much as it was with people calling a CSR for help, then a group ganking the CSR for the fun of it.
then why not make CSRs invulnerable to attacks? or just give their characters 900k Health?

ever never
everyone who has replied to my intial post only deals with the fact that /citywarn should or shouldn't be in the game, but...
how about FIXING the last remainingfeature of militia defense???
as stated above /cityban is broken. people can, will, and DO use a cheat to get around not being able to shuttle into cities they are banned from simply by opening their inventory windows and double clicking on the ticket. an entire aspect of the /cityban feature is made useless. when someone is BANNED from the city, they should be BANNED from entry.
as it is - you can have an entire pvp group simply raid any city of its chosing by shuttling in...which makes NO sense, especially in light of the fact that THEY AREN'T SUPPOSED TO AND THE ONLY REASON THEY CAN IS BECAUSE THE SOE DEVELOPERS WILL NOT FIX THIS BUG.

I would actually like to see the Militia Tef over ride the BH tef. That way if a BH does attack a Jedi that is in the town militia other members of the militia would be able to aid them. Players should safe in their own town no matter what their profession is.
Jenner, I DO see yor point, but I disagree with it.....
Lets look at it from the opposite point of view..... Say, i attack one of YOUR jedi.... he starts whoopin up on me, so i haul my hiney back home ( a mere 1k away from HIS home) he persues me... enters Avarice, where I have 10 Melitiamen waiting to GANK him.
Ok, that would never happen in MY town, but we all know there are places where it might.
If /cityban worked like the name implies, there would no longer be an issue. Make the banned player slide his hiney right out of my city limits. In my opinion, /citywarn should work as the name implies.... send the targeted player a warning, something like,
"You are no longer welcome in this town, if you do not leave, you might be banned"
Then, that player has the option to applogize, and stop the rude behavior, or, be removed from the city limits. No one would be killed, attacked, or otherwise. And, the attack functions could not be used as a trap for powerful jedi, or others, to run into gank squads.
As a BH, I still don't think it's right to be able to attack jedi in town, but that is also my personal morals. To argue if it is right or not is a whole different arguement. (jedi = PVP template, BH = jedi killer, is it right to limit one classes game abilities, etc) Lets not go there. =) Removal of a person from the area, just as you would remove them from a building causes no harm to any one..... maybe a little inconvience, and still keeps our citizens safe. With city restrictions preventing cities from overlapping, POIs could not be restricted either. You might not be able to take the straight line there, but you COULD get there.
As for shuttling into a town you are city banned from..... would it really be so bad if upon loading, that player simply slides out again? (i see endless humour here). Players would not be restricted from going places (I can still hop a shuttle to the closest POI, just can't stay in town) and yet citizens would not be inconvienced. In most cases players would slide right out of town before they even got past the loading screen.
What do you think?

There was a valid reason. People with cities near POIs were abusing it to attack anyone who wandered through.

/citywarn should be brought back, and there is no real valid reason for getting rid of it in the first place.
well they should've made it so people can't build a city near a POI. don't take away a useful and immersive game system because a few people were being jerks.
I completely agree, but unfortunately it didn't work out. I don't think they can just *move* everyone that builds near a POI away, and I doubt they want to make everyone move (resulting in a lot of pissed off people). it sucks, but that's the way it is.
On Tempest, the Krayt Graveyard was literally controlled by the rebel guild that put a town right next to the spawn. Being an Imperial, I really didn't care. It added a lot of flavor to the game to expect to be dealing with the rebels all of the time. Even covert, they would try to out-damage us and steal the loot. This did nothing more than make those of us interested in getting the loot become better players. Also, their citywarns allowed some PVP from a group that talked alot of stuff, but did little.

As BH's are fond of saying, "This is a game of consequences". You knew what you were doing when you chose the profession and attacked the jedi. Stop using the devs and a skirt to hide behind.
