Thread: medium house foot print sickens!

The foot print is just shy of a large, and leaves gaping holes in carefully thought out player cities!

I have a challenging hill that I must work around. It was perfect before the increased foot print increase, but now nothing but smalls can be placed there.

It sickens me to death to see perfect static cities with pavement and decorations abound yet player cities are always getting the shaft! I mean really, isnt it silly we can not alter the terrine? How long has player cities been published and the most we get now is the ability to pack up our homes with decorations in tact, where as we ... the community leaders and "mayors" of our communities must live with unmowed grass, desperatly placed buildings, and an overall less then sensitive SOE DEV team?

I am sick of being a cheer leader for this crap! Cities need attention... imagin how lovely they could look if we can make them look more like static cities?

I challange DEVS to work with what that shovel out to us mayors: From terrine to building placement! Would static cities look as nice as they do if they had to work under these conditions? I think not.

Thank you for my rant.

I just had to rant because I placed 4 medium homes in less then ideal conditions.

Overall, the Naboo medium (5x6)is now 2 sq. ft. smaller than a Naboo large (6x7). By contrast, a medium Tatooine (5x5) is also 2 sq. ft. smaller than a large Tatooine (5x7). It sits slightly different on the footprint, but it is in proportion to other planetary houses.

Just something to keep in mind.

There are so many different posts about this issue. Khristen PLEASE post this in the issues as you said you would. This has been brought up in 3 different forums that I can think of. Maybe is we had it as part of the issues list we could rally support.

BTW. we do not care about the footprint of Tatooine houses, we live on Naboo.

Even if I haven't updated the "issues" list posted in the Politician forumyet, doesn't mean it hasn't been passed on as an issue via the correspondent forum. It should be in one of the posts since the last update as well, along with the other tallys that need to be made.

My point in mentioning the Tatooine housing is that the difference between the medium and large are in proportion with the current Naboo medium and large. At some point in time I remember reading that this was actually the intended size of the Naboo medium all along.

I'll see about getting a more definitive answer on this.

You know, an easy solution to all of this would be to let the mediums stack like they used to, but let players walk through them. Just a thought.

Riventek,

That would be far too easy to implement.
Don't you know every change to the game has to be overly complex and riddled with bugs? ;-)

Player cities have needed attention since the December 2003 nerfs of player cities began to roll in. Many of the city specialties have no real benefit these days. City Militia tends to be a housing placement person in lieu of what it was Designed and Intended for. Since SOE cannot make up their minds for the use of player cities, first they were touted to ease the over crowding of NPC cities and create a launching point for players to adventure from your own towns. Back then the party line SOE gave was player content was player driven.

Almost two years later the only attention play cities have seen is the Medium Naboo footprint nerft, whether designed as intended or a nerf the development team continues to antagonize what remains of a shrinking player base that has been ignored for so long. Unfortunately the more we cry foul on this issue or others the more we get ignored. Unless it directly effects the combat classes we are the red headed stepchildren of SWG.

Trimming from the side and back to allow players to pass-through is really what SHOULD have been done. It would have actually accomplished what they set out to do, remove the ability to make walls!!!

Instead they have basically killed the cities on Naboo, Rori and Dant. This may only be a big deal for us, but just wait till they change the Medium Generic. Just getting ready for them to kill the only thing still working in a Player City.

I think the side footprint is fine, it's the footprint on the back of the med naboo house that is entirly to big.

I would have to agree. The footprint on the back is WAY too big. If you look at what they did it must have been a quick fix as it looks like they took the layout and just did a "duplicate item" command and left it where it generated (yes I have autoCAD experience).

We need to see if they can at least talk to us about setting it back and just trimming the sides and back like the medium Generic (unless this is now what is being used to build walls) If they would have trimmed it a small bit it would have allowed pass-through and solved the problem that was given as the reason.

All this has done is taken an already completely broken item (Player Cities) and made them no longer possible to play on 3 of the planets. Just wait till they use the same reason on the medium Generics

they wont let us change the terrain of the land as it would cause a lot of lag for the ground being all flat and modelled out static cities were already implemented into already placed flat land unfortunatly player cities were not (unless you have a flat area on lok)
